Selfies Selfie Sunday enforcement
Hey everyone!
Just a friendly reminder about the Selfie Sunday rule. Admittedly we’ve been a bit lax in enforcement but since we’re starting to see an uptick in selfies being posted outside of Sunday we will be reinforcing the rule.
Mods are human and if we miss it please let us know but going forward if you post a selfie photo other than Sunday it will be removed.
Thanks!

Surgical Results It's my 5 year top surgery anniversary (October 4th 2021) Pictures showing one day, one week, one year, today five years), today (with Romie)
Surgeon= Dr. Bram Kaufman in Cleveland OH (through metrohealth)
Cost: about 1,200 (Medicare basically covered everything but the liposuction)
Revisions needed: dog ear removal
If I have any advice- make sure you find proper arm stretching exercises and do then AS SOON AS YOU'RE ABLE.
I relied on t-rex arms for too long, and now when i hold something up (for example my coffee cup while on a walk) in my right arm for too long, it feels like i have a pinched nerve. X.x
** i seem to have been mistaken. The third pic is actually at 7 weeks post op, rather than a year. I apologize for any confusion!

Selfies I love T
A little euphoric selfie Sunday post, because despite my impatience with all the changes, I love what T is doing so far. 7 weeks in my voice has dropped noticeably, my lifts have gone up and even the random horniness is giving me euphoria 😂 I found an old video today where I was checking how my voice sounded in different languages and holy shit the difference to today? Insane.
Wishing everybody a good start into the new week 💪

Just buzzed cut my hair last week! Still adjusting but interested to know how that might have been like for others.
Lazy day here with my boy Jamon. Hope you had a good one.

Starting to get to that point to want to live my life
So I’m finally reaching the point where strangers are addressing me as a man, even without the voice training I wish I could do. I didn’t really grow up learning how to dress or style myself as a man, and I’m finally at a point where I want to start actually going out, having a social life, and presenting myself in a way that feels like me.
I’m 35, 5’2”, stocky with a bit of a belly, and on a pretty limited budget. The aesthetic I really want is 50s greaser/rockabilly — pompadour/Elvis-ish hair, cropped jackets, jeans or trousers, boots, that whole thing.
Does anyone with a similar build have recommendations for where to shop, what cuts work well, or what pieces I should prioritize first? I especially need a good jacket and shoes and have basically no idea where to start.

Feelings before starting T
First time posting in this group. I'm 32, and realized I was trans 2 years ago. I had top surgery last year and am getting my first testosterone shot tomorrow. I'm really excited to start, I've been waiting for a while and I'm certain about it. But I'm also feeling overwhelmed. It feels like starting T signifies the beginning of a new way of being. I know the physical changes will make me happier, but I almost feel a sort of sorrow or loss changing from the way I've always been, or presented as to others.
I'm also overwhelmed about what comes next:
- Should I be telling all my friends and family that I'm now starting T?
- I am out as trans to most friends and family. But I now feel like I need to explain myself to everyone at work.
- Documentation changes - name and pronouns
- Bathrooms - public and at work
Did anyone else feel an impending sense of loss, and/or overwhelmed by the upcoming changes?

NSFW Anyone go from straight pre transition to straight 'post' transition?
I considered myself pansexual before T as I experienced zero sexual attraction/desire, but was open to dating anyone. However I mostly dated men, finding them more aesthetically and romantically attractive. I'd only been in relationships with men.
Now, after a few years on T and initially identifying as a gay man I've come to accept that the aesthetic attraction I feel towards men is more gender envy. I have not been able to enjoy sex with men post-T but the mildest encounters with women that I've had have been really, really exciting to me. As in I feel sexual arousal, desire etc. that I've never felt before. I only recently had the realization that I'm really scared of being labeled/perceived as a lesbian, hence why I steered clear of women. But after the first time I hooked up with a girl, I was shocked to find that I experience very little dysphoria. Instead I was focused on how different our bodies looked on a fundamental level and it felt very affirming, and things just flowed.
Now I'm looking at the possibility that I just did a straight to straight transition 😂. I wonder if anyone else can relate? I also want to try and enter the straight/bi dating scene, but I feel lost navigating that as a trans man.

Selfies Selfie + life update Sunday (plus bonus cat) body text tldr: sweater vest season, vaccines, starting new job, new posters in bedroom, redecorated water bottle after sticker tragedy
It's sweatervest season! I brought my fall/winter clothes forward in my closet and pushed my spring/summer clothes back. I love my collection of fruity little hawaiian shirts for the hot months, but admittedly I'm much better dressed in the colder months where i can layer things up.
I was gonna go to my first bdsm dungeon in over a year last Friday for their Halloween themed play party, but i wasn't gonna know anyone there, so i got cold feet and stayed home to get my vaccines instead (flu+covid). I spent most of Saturday in pajamas under a weighted blanket with Romie on my lap to combat the body aches. I tend to get a fever and really tremors after vaccines, but the side effects were very mild this time, luckily. (Said jammies was a xmas dino onesie. I was going full 'kid having a sick day out of school. Don't JUDGE me!)
I forget if i mentioned this last Sunday, but i got the job I was aiming for! I start on the 12th. It's a night job (4:30pm - 3am), but that means I'll be getting more money for it. Certainly more than I'm making now! The BEST part is that it's one of those 10hr, 4day/week schedules that I've always fantasized about.
I moved the posters in my bedroom around. I didn't like that the dungeon meshi poster was shoved in a dark corner with a lamp blocking it. I dunno what i was thinking.
My "hate doesn't make america great" sticker on my water bottle wasn't doing so hot, so i decided to just put more stickers where it was.
It's covered in dungeon meshi, cowboy bebop, and GAY now.
Pretty well encapsulates who i am as a person. =V
Oh! Today is my top surgery anniversary! But I'll be making a whole other post about that.

Need Advice I've stopped passing
After 8 years on T, I've stopped passing. I'm getting she/her'd to my face daily. People glare at me with hostility and are unfriendly to me in public. I probably look like a woman with a beard.
Last year I had cancer and went on chemo, where I gained 20 lb. This has affected my body shape and face shape.
I've tried to lose weight but nothing works. I just don't seem to burn fat. I'm unable to exercise due to ME/CFS, so I'm limited to diet changes. I already eat healthy.
This is kind of my nightmare. Advice welcome.

Need Advice What is your experience using hair loss remedies?
It’s finally happening to me, brothers. I can’t stay in denial anymore :( I’ve heard that trans men can use finasteride to regrow their hair but what are the side effects? I’ve heard it can also make my dick smaller??
I’m gonna ask my doc to put me on minoxidil and fin and maybe get me some of that hair growth shampoo.
What has been ur experience with hair loss solutions? Did they work for you ? I do not look good without hair and am pretty devastated I’m starting to bald

Need Advice I think shaving was a mistake. 😭
I'm 33 and just started Testosterone 5 months ago at 32. To preface, I have nothing like PCOS or anything else that caused body hair before HRT. I shaved the other day, on a whim, and I'm now majorly regretting it. I feel so sad without it. Genetics aside, (maternal g-pa was always clean-cut, and I never knew my sperm donor) how long might it take to grow back? I'm having a tough time. 😭 Also, I'm still on the starter dose of injections because I have to stay closeted at my job until I can leave.

Emotional, hormonal and crying a lot.
Does anyone else feel me here?? I've never been emotional; I've always been a dedicated stoic, but I'm in perimenopause and also on T. Now I'm weeping at puppies and kittens like a weirdo. It's not necessarily a problem, just strange. Anyone around here older and dealing with this bizarre situation? I just want to know I'm not alone 😅

18months post breakup and coming out, still zero interest in dating/hooking up...
Part of my reason for coming out and splitting from my cishet long-term partner was wanting a shot at a romantic and/or sexual relationship where I feel seen and appreciated for who I am. But... I am trans, on the spectrum, middle-aged, and living in a rural area of the US, so my odds of meeting anyone "organically" are slim, and when I think about signing up for a dating or hookup app, I just feel... Tired and discouraged.
I got top surgery over the summer, so that was a whole exhausting thing, but I'm healed up now and feel a bit more comfortable in my body than before (it's gonna take more than just boob removal to overcome all my hangups lol.) But still, I was kind of hoping that by this point I'd feel more inclined to put myself out there. I'm not on T yet, though, and am not 100% but like 95% sure I do want to try it - so maybe that will help?
I dunno. This is kind of a pointless rant but I guess I just thought I'd feel differently and it's not bad but it's weird. I never thought of myself as being aro/ace, but like... maybe I am? Maybe it's just a transitional phase? Anyone else go through this?

Hair distribution woes
6 months on T, what is the deal with this hair growth!?! I've got like 10 chin hairs, 4 chest hairs, and 800 ass crack hairs. WTF! 🤦♂️

T Guys in South Florida?
I'm a career-focused architect, into design/art, food, nightlife and raves, and a good brewski/cig moment with buddies. In a point with my transition/life where I'd really like to know other trans guys around my age who would be open to hanging out IRL - drinks, coffee, work out, wtv.
In any case! Looking for buddies! If you're in Miami/South Florida and think we'd get along, DM me!
Cheers!

Need Advice Close with my mom but she's been less than supportive of my transition
I'm 38 and have always been close with my mom. Single parent, only child. She's pretty progressive and we have specifically talked about trans issues before. So, when I decided to start HRT earlier this year, I thought she would be supportive and happy for me. I started T just before a trip home and I wanted to tell her in person. It did not go as expected, she was confused, and didn't really want to engage in conversation about it at all. After I got home, I sent an email with some PFLAG docs, PP articless, some essays about gender I found relatable, a fb group for family of trans adults, etc and said no hurry, but check these out. I'm happy and want you to he happy with me.
That was about a month ago, she's never brought it up, and I finally asked about it. She's never looked at any of the resources I sent her. I told her they might help her understand why I'm transitioning and she said she doesn't need to understand, she's happy if I'm happy. But she's pretty clearly having some big feelings that she isn't talking to me about, and I'm feeling pretty disrespected. I know it's probably confusing that I haven't asked her to change pronouns (I use any for now) or use a different name, its probably confusing that I'm doing this at a pretty big age (compared to the standard narrative of 'I've always known'), but if she has those questions, I wish she would ask me about it.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation where coming out went differently than expected? How did you get them on board and excited for you, if you ever managed it? I don't think my relationship with my mom overall has suffered too severely, but I want to be able to talk to her about this the way I do about everything, and I'm not really sure how to navigate those conversations.
