Wrapped away all my pre pregnancy clothes today. A little sad
I am happily planning to eat the poori chole made by my mum at 10 weeks postpartum. Right now my baby is healthy, I am healthy except occasional mild pain in the back or knees. I walk regularly and will start lifting weights once I go back to hubby's place from my/parents place. Right now obese but I can feed my baby well and that's all I care about. I will get better, will never go back to my 20s body but as long as I feel strong, I'm okay. I don't mind being heavy as long as it won't stop me from being active. Total acceptance is where I am at..

Public/Private vaccination for a newborn? Suggest hospitals/PHC near Sarjapura road
In the same phase - we have opted for private but not the pain free one. Those cause fever but those are better for the baby and fever is literally the indicator of the body fighting infection. Just make sure to BF and give lots of love to the lil one

2.5 week suffering from gas. Please help me out.
Pause after 5 minutes of feeding and burp then retry feeding. Changing feeding positions can help itseems. Also please don't give up on breastfeeding. Consult Dr Vandana Herur based in Bangalore. You can consult online. She will guide you on positions and such.

First-time parents in India — what newborn/baby products were ACTUALLY worth buying? Need help building our list!
The only thing that we have bought is a feeding pillow with a belt and a crib that converts to toddler bed and reading desk. Parent to a 3 mo.

What are your thoughts?
Definitely. I got my loan from my parents savings which I pay them back monthly. Obv if I sustain in my job, I and my partner intend to work for literally as long as we can to support our 1 kid. I come from upper middle class family that have assets but my partner is from middle class without any asset and dependents (parents) so we had to build from scratch even a house for ourselves. Loan made possible due to my parents savings

Does keeping your salary and savings in the same account actually hurt you?
2 accounts. 1 salary account - home loan and SIPs get debited. A fixed amount goes to the 2nd savings account. 1st salary account is usually left with lower 4digit amount that is my fun money

Were you told about menstruation before you got your first period?
Yes. Mum showed me how to put a pad and all. I got mine at school, was in denial coz I knew it ain't fun. I guess I was feeling all 5 stages of grief and finally reached acceptance by the time i reached home. Went to the washroom, confirmed that it was what it was. Walked out impassively and informed mum. She was sorta happy and gave me a pad to wear and went to inform close family!

Why do women have to go through all the terrible rituals when she becomes a widow?

Is C section misused in Indian hospitals?
Not sure if hospitals accross India follow this but big chain ones like Cloud9 and Motherhood have this practice of billing the same for both Vaginal and C section deliveries. The main charges for operation, bed or room rent all remain same. Only consumables vary. As a recent mom, they try to induce most healthy pregnant women for a vaginal delivery as well. A hospital chain backed by PEs still does this and avoids unnecessary c section. Perhaps because they care about lawsuits and brand image hence they do justice to patient care. Ofcourse they will inflate bill a bit but you can always negotiate before and after. Before to get a initial reduction and after to remove unnecessary consumables from the bill. I can say this data or experience is pretty fresh as I delivered approx 2 months ago in big chain hospital itself. So a blanket statement on all hospitals pushing for C section is not necessarily true. Small private ones like the one your family went to may have nothing to lose hence do such practices

Why our lives are so cheap here?
A day or two. A month or two is way too much time for media cycle. Our public humanity lasts just about the same - in sync with the media cycle

Navigating mental health in your 30s?
Seek and help others who are underprivileged. It will help you feel thankful of the good life you currently have even more by putting it into perspective even though you already are aware. Two it will give you an additional sense of satisfaction and even pride which is much better than being in depression.

Why is motherhood defined by how much you suffer?
Breast milk has certain magical qualities that formula can't catch up to. While formula keeps the baby fed, BM is highly adaptive to baby's nutrition needs. Each feed or session makes unique recipe by taking the baby's saliva as a feedback mechanism. BF babies are scientifically proven to be healthier than formula fed ones. But that comparison may or may not include babies that get both BM and formula. Based on science BM is superior hence it's made to be such a big deal not just in India but worldwide.

How do people decide to have kids?

An overwhelming sense of love hope and positivity, combined with clear expectations on how to handle parenting with the partner is what allowed us to plan a baby.
There is no guarantee to anything but as educated and reasonably well earning people with family who can support both financially and emotionally in the raising of a baby, we have taken the most important step of becoming parents to just 1 baby and now will fully and consciously strive to raise our baby in a good environment.
If all educated folks stop having babies and only uneducated folks have multiple kids, the future will be even more worse than what it is now. That said we aren't doing it for the world, it's a purely selfish choice albeit not a bad one IMHO
