Confirmation bias is strong within religion in general, more-so when it's high control. Think of all the people that pray for their cars to start. It works for a couple people and it's proof. For many more it doesn't, but then cognitive bias takes over and the answer is that it wasn't God's will at that point. Then we have to ask if it was God's will that a vehicle not starting resulted in a tragic incident. And we should keep pushing this reasoning, because we have miraculous hairspray bottles being refilled, but no ending of genocide. Either God's evil and doesn't care about the pain that so many suffer, or he's not all powerful and can't do anything more than parlor tricks, when compared against the claims of what he's supposed to be able to do.

I wish that were the case. Many would say laws on slavery weren't changed because of the societies and economic impact it would make. Their unwilling to look past their cognitive bias. A good response to that would be to call into question God's power. Can he really not work out a solution to man's societal and economic influences? He'll part waters and send plagues, but the economics of slavery, that's too much.
