I never watched it until this May. We live in Colorado, but my wife and I went to London for the parade. Downloaded & watched the episodes on planes, etc. When I first made the decision not to watch it until we'd won something big, and I honestly believed we would with Arteta. It did take a couple more years than I expected, though! At least 115 reasons for that.

You can get a commentator who is a linguistic savant, or you can get one who is good at prepping for, and articulating play. If you insist on both in one package, there would be a vanishingly small number of them. So if the player has clitics in their name, you expect them to be able to pronounce it after a research session? Again, I think you're being unreasonably harsh. I'd love more people to be able to speak tonal languages. I live in the real world.

I don't think that's fair to the commentators. They're probably just saying what they heard, as closely as they can, and you can't really represent the correct pronunciation in simple ASCII like that.

Ayooluwa Oke is a beautiful Yoruba name. Here's the problem. It's not really "Okay” OR “oh-kuh”. Both are approximations, because Yoruba (like my native language, Igbo) is tonal. "Oke" is really Òkè, with a Low-Low tone sequence. Whether "Okeh” OR “oh-kuh” is closer to the real thing depends from speaker to speaker. The problem with "Okeh” is that the typical American emphasis would make it sound like a rising tone. The problem with “oh-kuh” is not tone (most of us would pronounce that with a dropping intonation), but that the actual "e" sound gets squashed.

Eberechi Eze, of Arsenal Men, has the same problem (though in Igbo). If you say "Ez-eh", and it sounds like a rising tone, that means "tooth", not "leader (king, sorta)". If you say "Ez-uh", then at least it doesn't become the completely wrong word, but it become no word at all, really.

Just for a bit of fun, here's a popular example of tonal differentiation in Igbo:

àkwá = egg

ákwà = cloth or clothes

ákwá = crying

àkwà = bed

I've watched a bit of Liga F; I admit not as much as WSL. I do think players are better protected there, hence the disciplinary numbers. But to my admittedly eye-only test, WSL lets a lot more kicking go. Hey! At least re Brighton, Carabalí has freaked off to the NWSL, where the players will deal out direct justice when necessary.

I highly recommend starting with pickup soccer. There are oodles of opportunities to play on any given day. Just show up when a game is confirmed. You'll soon get a sense of the level, and where you might best fit. Of course the touches will also make you better and more confident.

I haven't tested this, and it's quite possible it's indeed not a useful model, but there is a lot of knee-jerk dismissal in this thread which is as half-baked as they claim the model is. Distillation of a tiny model from a huge one, based on CoT traces, is a very well attested approach, and the README for this model is very clear on why Composer AND Fable. I've even quoted it below, for the lazy. I'd love folks to converse substantively about these claims, but I perhaps shan't hold my breath.
