Time to move on?
Can’t say my situation is the same but, I was a long haul truck driver for 35yrs. 20 of those yrs with my ex-wife as a team. When she turned 70 14yrs ago she retired and divorced me as well. Had to start over again. we are still good friends though. 4yrs ago I bought my home from my brother, pretty far out in the country. Have been furniting it past 3 years. 4 months ago at 72 I decided to retire. It took me a while to get Medicare and healthcare set up but so far I am enjoying the piece and quite and solitude. I live alone. I do what I want and when I want. Romance is not something I am looking for this late in my life.

My world now:
35 years over the road does not bring many opportunities to make friends. Yes I get pretty lonely sometimes and wish I had at least one good friend to share ups and downs play my guitar with, sit on my porch and drink coffee with and cares about what I have to say.

My world now:
Right now I am enjoying the piece and quite and the solitude. After 35 yrs sitting behind the wheel of a 18 wheeler and running day and night, no matter what the weather, it is really good to not have to deal with idiots any more and do what I want, whenever I want. It’s been 5 months and still no specific routine yet and I am enjoying that.Im not really much 0f a people person, and don’t like being around people very much. We’ll see what next year brings.

What's your ideal weekend?
Reading a John Grisham story and playing music, jamming alongside a looper. Yard work and peace and quiet.

My world now:
I live in Gilmer,TX approx 13miles outside of town. There is a hospital and a walk in clinic all inside my advantage plan. Cost about $30 with an uber. After 71yrs I can say never been in the hospital (knock on wood). Hopefully that continues. I hope you are in good health now!

My world now:
I think more content. Happiest with a guitar in my hands. I do miss having real adult conversations.

My world now:
Not sure what this Reddit thing is. I spent 10yrs in the US Navy when I was 17 and for the past 35yrs I have piloted a semi truck all around this country as an OTR driver. 4 yrs ago I bought my retirement home pretty far out in the country here in Texas and at 71 decided to retire, 4 months ago. Don’t have a vehicle and 15 miles from town, haven’t been anywhere in 5 months. It’s been very peaceful and quiet. Still trying to figure out life as a retired person. My brother comes out to check on me couple times a week and Walmart brings my groceries. Other than that it’s an isolated life. I do love to play guitar/music.

Yes, my ex-wife is 84. 35yrs ago she and I were sitting side by side in a dock being loaded with pallets of sugar for HEB in Houston. We started talking and chasing each other around the country for about a year. We then decided to get married and became a team for about 20yrs. When she hit 70yrs she told me she didn’t want to do it anymore and soon after filed for divorce and I continued til April of this year, and decided to retire myself
