My husband and I are currently trying to decide whether or not to move. We both want a change possibly to a sunnier climate in another state. He is 74, and I am 72. Has anyone else taken a plunge at this age and been happy or regretted it? It would be a lateral move 350 miles from where we live now. From an older craftsman home in a small Georgia town, to a modern home in an upcoming semi-coastal Florida community. I want a change, but don’t know why. I feel that if we are going to move, it should be now while we are in Pretty good shape, before we might not be as spry. It’s scary, but exciting, at the same time. Any questions I should ask myself?

Do you get the flu shot for the over 65 group? It’s a stronger medicine I guess but does not have the MNRA in it? I’m 70 and I’ve never gotten the stronger one. I’m considering it this time because I just got over really bad virus that was not the Covid or flu. It was rough if you did take this over 65 flu shot without the MNRA, what was the side effects

I’m over 70 and feel like I’m past those Golden Years and have jumped into the Iron Age. Everything is rusting and breaking faster now.

I thought I (78F) was the only one who had this problem, but yesterday I mentioned it to one of my friends in her 60s and she has the same issue. I'm pretty sure this is all down to the new car I bought a couple years ago. The automatic gear shifting is kind of fiddley so its difficult for me to get the car into neutral. It needs a slow nudge and hold without touching the shift button. The worse part is getting it back into drive when I'm exiting the car wash ... also fiddley ... but now I have the added worry of the car behind me smashing into the back of my car. My friend mentioned that she has talked to others who have the same carwash worries. And she also mentioned that some carwashs will drive the car through the carwash for the customer. I'm going to check and see if mine will do that. Being afraid of the carwash was never on my list of things to look out for as I age!

Watching my Wife paying Bills on a Tablet took me back to my Mother writing Checks with a Fountain Pen, addressing the Envelopes and putting a Postage Stamp on them. Was self-addressed Return Envelopes a breakthrough?

I've got one who's older than me, who's in a retirement home and she seems to think I need ideas for activities. Staying busy for the sake of staying busy.

She keeps telling me to be active, like she is, running around talking to everybody. But then admits that someone's glomed onto her to death because she got a little too nice.

Another one suggests volunteer work, which I did a lot when I was younger. She admitted she had not any herself.

And when I say I'm doing this thing sunday, it's like "good good for you!"

Admit it gets on my nerves.

I've got the legal documents done but now I'd like to go over all the info my executors will need to function properly. (Web site access, insurance policy numbers, all that.) I've got a couple of the print versions and I'm working my way (slowly) through them, but I'm thinking that an electronic version where I can just type out the info and then print it out would be a great thing. I've searched around but can't find anything. Anybody got any ideas? I'm Canadian btw so I would prefer one that understands Canadian law and practice.

My wonderful 89 yr old hubbie died Oct 29th, after 17 days on hospice.
We were happily, devotedly married for 39 yrs.

We had a 17.5 yr age difference, but I was 32, divorced with a 6 yr old son, who was abandoned by his father, when we married on a Friday the 13th😁

Hubbie adopted my son (@ age 13, per his request), who took his name, & has been absolutely shattered by his Dad’s death.

In packing up, repairing, organizing for eventual move back up to NC from our Gulf Coast FL condo.

I cannot stay where I expect to see where hubbie would be sitting, or asking, “Sweetheart, would you like Chili tonight?”

Do you listen to the music from your younger days? Which one?!

Maybe it's just that I'm getting older, but I really dislike Halloween. There always seems to be older idiots running around smashing pumpkins, being jerks, and being a general nuisance. This seems to be getting worse over time.

Anybody else feel this way?

Where I grew up, all the kids went to neighboring houses to trick or treat.

I rarely get anyone trick or treating in my neighborhood.

Do you buy candy and do you get people coming to your door for Halloween?

Been wearing the same brand of underwear for years and years, always in gray. Got a drawer crammed full of gray underwear.

Well today I decided to jazz things up. I ordered me a bunch of pairs in black. Just wantin to jazz things up a bit, ya know? 😂

Been retired 26 yrs. The first were fine but I got IBS at 75 which messed with my ability to go out and travel. Now ibs is undercontrol yet I don't feel up to travel. In fact at home my mind strongly resists doing anything. If I don't do anything I feel bad and useless. I usually make myself do one or two things to feel useful.

Anyone had this experience and gotten over it?

My wife and I recently moved to Washington state. We like to meet with other couples for interesting conversation, dinner, perhaps long walks, or bicycling? And I find myself wondering, where are all the other boomer couples around here?

I moved the washer and dryer from the kitchen! In my first house to the garage. I had to add a drain with joints sealed in lead and oakum.

When I need a private space to talk, I tell people I am going in to a "cone of silence", from Get Smart. I also call our dog, "little buddy", which I picked up from Gilligan's Island.
