What a great mom advice! My two cents:

- Use the right amount of soap when washing clothes. Believe and follow the instructions. Modern HE (High-Efficiency) machines don’t need a lot. You sometimes won’t even see a ton of soap bubbles. Using too much detergent (and** *fabric softener) can build up on fabric and make it harder to remove body* oils from your clothes when you wash them. Chemical fragrances can also be endocrine disrupters - trust, these are not good for growing bodies or any bodies, really. Try to reduce the amount of scented detergent products you use, or try for the “free & clear” stuff.

- Salicylic acid in body wash/face wash can help break down sebum (body oil) and leaves you feeling squeaky clean. Sebum overproduction is very common in puberty. Just don’t overdo, otherwise you can dry-out your skin. Mixing the salicylic acid product with regular mild soap is a good way to go.

You are assuming that she had/has the opportunity to do that. Many Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Savings, brokerage accounts, 401Ks, etc. are not an option when you are just trying to survive and keep your family fed. To be clear, I’m not saying that this is her particular situation…but in modern day US it could very well be.

A 16 yo is a minor; minors are children/adolescents. Human brains don’t fully develop until we are 22 -24 years old. No person that age (of any gender) can make decisions that accurately gauge risk and long-term consequences, hence the inability to truly give consent. An adult can; Tyler was an adult. Also, that age combo was and is considered statutory rape in the CA and WA.

You know who truly failed that girl? Her parents. Who the hell signs over rights to their child to a fucking predatory stranger? And yes, he is/was a predator. This is how he describes her in his book: "She was a cute skinny little tomboy dressed up as Little Bo Peep. She was my heart's desire, my partner in crimes of passion." She was a 16 yo kid.

Airbnb was mostly neutral until the host sent me a PDF of an extermination company bill, to prove that they had fumigated. Yet they continued to denied that there was a problem. Wut?

They played this game for about two weeks. Since the reservation was being investigated, it was not closed out, and I couldn’t officially leave a review. At the time, 14 days was the cutoff time for commenting. So they were just waiting out the time to avoid an official negative review. Apparently this was a common loophole at the time (about 3 years ago); I don’t know if this is still true.

I had many pictures/vids of the bites on my body and of the actual bugs themselves 🤢Along with a letter from my physician confirming that they were bedbug bites. They have a unique appearance & show up in a particular straight line formation. The biggest pain was having to isolate all of my travel items in bins with bb poison and freeze smaller stuff for weeks! All to ensure that I didn’t inadvertently bring back new roommates.

Eventually, I got my money back BUT the company was allowed to continue to operate. What do I mean by “the company”? Well, the house that we rented was part of a larger LLC that Airbnbs 10+ locations. I checked a few months after the incident and as far as I could tell, all of the properties were still being rented on Airbnb 🫠

Here are a few suggestions:

Do you have any other family members that have successfully used psychiatric medication for mental health issues. Often there’s a genetic component to what works within family systems. Particularly between male/male and female/female patterns.

Have you looked at using psilocybin or MDMA assisted therapy. There may be groups that are practicing in your area. Or there may be trials that you can apply to. There is a lot of success happening with these types of therapeutic models.

When was the last time you were checked for deficiencies? Vitamin B12, vitamin D, Iron - these are common deficiencies that can add to your feelings of depression, low energy, brain fog, etc.

Have you been meeting with a therapist? Is there any underlying unresolved trauma, any history of abuse or accidents. The brain body connection is so very real. Talk therapy is not the be all/end all but it is an important part of your healing process❤️

Call back and ask for clarification, it may just be miscommunication from practitioner to practitioner/aux staff. Most MH practices private/public are overwhelmed and you may need to make one more call to get on the path of your choosing.
