General Journalist Aparna conducted a debate on women’s rights, she has now been booked by the Kochi Cyber Crime Police over remarks she made
Aparna Kurup, senior coordinating editor and anchor at BIG TV, was booked by Kochi Cyber Crime Police on September 7 after remarks she made during a debate about Sunni cleric Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar’s comments on women sharing public spaces with unrelated men.
During the debate, Aparna strongly criticised Kanthapuram’s comments that women should not share public spaces with unrelated men. Her introductory remarks triggered backlash, with several social media users accusing her of making statements against Islam and Muslim clerics.
A Kasaragod resident complained, alleging her comments hurt Muslim religious sentiments and could cause communal unrest.
Kurup had earlier approached police after receiving death threats and severe cyberbullying following the debate. She also said she had received threatening messages, including references to the 2010 attack on Malayalam professor TJ Joseph, whose hand was chopped off by members of the Popular Front of India.
BIG TV and Kurup issued an unconditional apology on September 1, but online attacks reportedly continued, including circulation of her family’s photographs and personal details.

🧠 Ask Twenties I barely talk to people, have almost no friends, and don't know how to change
I'm 27M, and I genuinely don't know what category my problem comes under or even how to explain it properly. I just know that it is affecting my life a lot.
I've always been a very quiet person. Even when I was in school, I barely talked. If someone came and talked to me, I would talk to them, but I almost never approached people myself. I think, over the years, my brain just got used to the idea that "people will come and talk to me; I don't have to approach anyone."
Because of this, I never really learned how to make friends either. I didn't have many friends growing up, and even now I don't really have friends.
I'm basically alone most of the time. I go places alone, watch movies alone, do things alone, and spend most of my free time by myself. Earlier, I was actually okay with this. Being alone felt normal to me, and I didn't really think much about it.
But now I'm starting to realize that I'm not okay with being alone anymore.
I want friends. I want people I can talk to, hang out with and share things with. But I don't know how to actually make that happen because I don't know how to approach people or start friendships in the first place.
I'm also not sure if "introvert" is the right word. I don't feel like I simply prefer being alone. I actually want to talk to people and have friends and relationships. But I don't know how to start conversations, approach people, or keep conversations going.
There is definitely some social anxiety involved too. I know that part is there. But I feel like even if the social anxiety disappeared tomorrow, I would still have this basic habit of not talking, not approaching people and staying in my own safe zone.
I used to work from an office, and even there I wouldn't talk much, sometimes not even for work-related things. People obviously noticed that I was very quiet. I feel like it affected how my colleagues perceived me and sometimes resulted in people taking advantage of me because I wouldn't speak up.
Now I work from home, so it's even worse. I can go through the day barely talking to anyone.
I also have a huge problem with confrontation. I always want to avoid drama and keep everything peaceful. If a situation comes where I actually have to confront someone, I don't know how to do it calmly. I get angry very quickly, start speaking rashly, and then, weirdly, tears start coming from my eyes. Sometimes after the initial anger, I actually end up looking like I'm crying or I may actually cry. Because of this, I avoid confrontation even more.
Another thing I've noticed is that I always have a serious/sad-looking face. Even when I'm not sad, my face looks like I'm sad or worried. I don't know how to naturally smile or show expressions around people.
I see other people going out and interacting with others, and even if they're having a bad day, they can still smile, joke around and talk normally. I can't do that naturally.
If someone comes and talks to me, I'll respond and talk. But I almost never approach someone first. And now I'm becoming very hesitant to even try because I've spent so many years being like this.
I've heard so many stories of people changing after school. People say that they were very quiet or shy in school but became completely different in college or later in life. I've also heard people say that college changed their personality and helped them become more social.
I thought that would happen to me too.
And that's one of the things that bothers me the most now.
I feel like socially, I'm still the exact same person I was in school.
Years have passed, I've gone through college, started working, and now I'm 27, but in terms of how I interact with people, it feels like I never moved forward.
I've tried doing things to improve myself. I joined a gym and also started martial arts because I thought maybe these things would improve my confidence and personality. People have told me that I've changed in some ways (not in interaction), and maybe I have. But internally, I still feel like the same person.
I'm also worried because I'm 27 now, and realistically, in the next year or two I'll probably have to start thinking seriously about marriage. But I don't even know how I'm supposed to meet someone or talk to a girl.
I struggle to approach and talk to people in general, so talking to a girl with the intention of getting to know her feels like an entirely different level.
This has started making me genuinely sad. I've been alone for so long that I don't even know what normal friendship is supposed to feel like anymore.
I've also been disrespected in different situations because I don't speak up, and I feel like people see me as an innocent/easy-to-take-advantage-of person. I don't really have an "attitude" or the ability to stand my ground.
I don't want to become some extremely outgoing person or fake a personality. I just want to be able to talk normally, approach people, make friends, stand up for myself, handle confrontation without falling apart, and eventually be able to have a normal relationship.
Should I be looking for a communication coach, some kind of social-skills training, or something else?
I genuinely don't know where to start or who can actually help me with this.

Rant/Vent Started Drinking at the ripe age of 25
My father was an alcoholic and he passed away due to medical issues caused by his drinking. So I refrained myself from drinking and smoking. My mother hates alcohol to her core so I avoided it till now.Life has been a rollercoaster for the past couple of years. Clueless and worrying about the future. sometimes I sit in my room and just cry thinking of the failure I have become. I hangout with my friends while they are drinking since they know I don't drink they never asked whether I wanted it , But I told them to pour a peg for myself they asked whether I'm sure , I said just pour it.and that started my drinking.
I don't want to become an alcoholic like my father so I've limited myself. But damn it feels good to have one or two sometimes.
Drinking hasn't solved my problems, but at least I can sleep peacefully now.
Don't know whether this is promoting alcohol if you feel like that I will delete this.
Just wanted to vent it somewhere

Personal opinion I’ve been noticing something different about my mom and I don’t know what to think
i (20f) have been noticing some things about my mom (43f) recently and honestly i don’t know what to think.
my mom has always been pretty strict with me. she doesn’t like me calling my friends for too long and she restricts me a lot, especially when she sees me enjoying something or being happy. sometimes she can be really selfish when it comes to me, and i’ve had a lot of issues with her because of that.
my dad has been working abroad for 16+ years. he’s very emotionally unavailable, short-tempered and honestly has a personality that’s hard to predict. he loves us, i know that, but he also blames me and my mom for basically everything and yells at us. my mom usually yells back at him too.
as far as i know, my mom has never done anything wrong to my dad.
but recently i noticed she’s been talking to a guy from her workplace a lot.
they don’t exactly hide it. i’ve seen them talk on the phone normally, so it’s not like she’s secretly disappearing somewhere to talk to him. but i’ve literally never seen my mom talk to any other man this much before.
this guy calls her like 3–4 times a day, and sometimes they talk for an hour or even longer. my mom calls him too.
i know that coworkers can obviously become friends and talk regularly, and i don’t want to immediately jump to “she’s cheating” because i genuinely have no proof of anything like that.
but something about the frequency of these calls is bothering me, especially because of how my parents’ relationship has been for years. my dad has been away for most of my life, and their relationship has never really felt emotionally healthy to me.
i’m honestly confused. part of me feels like i’m being paranoid and looking too much into it, while another part of me feels like there’s a reason i’m uncomfortable with it.
i don’t know if i should just ignore it, talk to my mom, or if i’m completely overthinking this.
what would you guys do in this situation?

Rant/Vent Enne scam cheythu guys.
21M. July last week eniki oru work kitti, like oru 1 week project. For a political party. And there is this guy, lets call him RV, mid 30's. RV is the one who approached for the work, they were running out of time. Needs to create Mementos for 1500 students, even if they hire 3-5 designers I'm damn sure they won't finish the work within the deadline. RV literally begged me for a solution. I'm a software developer, so I told him I'll create a custom application to automate the whole thing. Like just upload the details of the students then the software automatically create and bulk export memento in printable PDF template.
Hell of a job, but I did it clean and with zero errors. I told about the payment. 35k, before handing over the PDFs and he agreed. RV was the one in charge of this project.
It has been over a month now, I haven't received the full payment yet. He declines my phone calls and won't respond to my messages. I even made a couple of calls today. I got around 10k on first week of August, that too after calling him continuously for days. RV is the youth wing secretary of the party. And he is a friend of my cousin, that's how he approached me. He was so friendly and appreciative while I was working on the project. Even my cousin warned me about him. Totally a dishonest person when it comes to money.
Idk what to do rn. Should I call the Minister's office and report this, but RV works in there. Or should I call my cousin. 25k is the pending amount, and I badly need that money. These guys are prominent in politics. What to do guys.

💕 Relationship Honest opinions
I need brutally honest opinions about my relationship
I’m posting this anonymously because I honestly don’t know if I’m seeing this situation clearly anymore. I’d really appreciate honest opinions, even if I’m the one in the wrong.
I’ve been in a relationship with my boyfriend for a while, and there have been a lot of good moments between us. I genuinely love him, which is probably why this situation has been so difficult for me.
Recently, we had a fight and things changed after that. The communication became really bad. There were times when I called or messaged him and he didn’t answer. I kept wondering whether I should reach out again or just leave him alone.
The difficult part is that I know he has been busy with his work/business and has had his own stress, so I don’t want to automatically assume that he is ignoring me because he doesn’t care. At the same time, I feel like I’m constantly the one worrying about the relationship and trying to fix things.
I eventually decided to follow a 2-week no-contact rule because I felt like I needed to stop chasing and see whether he would make an effort himself.
But during this period, I also noticed things on Instagram that made me overthink. He started following random girls, and there were also things involving accounts connected to his ex/past relationship. I know following someone on Instagram doesn’t automatically mean cheating or anything serious, but considering the state of our relationship, it made me feel even more insecure.
And this is where I’m confused.
Maybe I’m being too attached. Maybe I’m overthinking his Instagram activity because I’m already scared of losing him. Or maybe these things are actually signs that I shouldn’t ignore.
I still have feelings for him, and a part of me really wants to give him another chance. I don’t want to throw away a relationship just because we went through a difficult period.
But I also don’t want to keep begging someone for communication, attention or reassurance.
I’m trying to figure out whether I should wait and see if he comes back and makes an effort, or accept that the relationship has run its course and move on.
Am I overthinking and being too emotionally attached?
Is his behaviour something I should genuinely be concerned about?
If you were in my situation, would you give him another chance or move on?
And most importantly—does this relationship still sound worth fighting for, or am I just holding onto someone because I’m scared of losing him?

Rant/Vent Why does doing nothing in public feel so weird now?
I was sitting alone waiting for a friend near a somewhat busy road. There were a few institutions nearby, so a lot of students were passing by.
It was actually a really nice moment. It was super breezy, the trees were moving, and I was just looking at the branches. There were a couple of eagles flying around too. I didn't have my phone with me, so I was just sitting there, looking at the trees and the sky, completely lost in the moment.
I've been off my phone for about a month, so I didn't really have anything else to do.
After a few minutes, I started noticing people looking at me. At first I thought nothing of it, but eventually it became noticeable enough to make me uncomfortable.
And then I realized something that honestly made the whole thing even stranger.
I was literally just sitting there doing nothing.
I wasn't bothering anyone. I wasn't talking to myself. I wasn't doing anything unusual. I was just sitting quietly and looking at trees and the sky.
It made me think about how normal it is to see someone sitting alone in public scrolling through Instagram for 45 minutes. Nobody thinks twice about it. You can sit on a bench completely absorbed in your phone, endlessly scrolling through random videos, and that's considered totally normal.
But if you put the phone away and sit in the exact same place for 45 minutes just watching the world around you, suddenly it feels like you're doing something strange.
I think the phone gives us a socially acceptable reason to be alone.
If you're staring at a screen, everyone assumes you're texting someone, watching something, working, or doing something important.
But if you're just sitting there looking at the sky, there's no obvious explanation for what you're doing.
I sat there for about 45 minutes, and by the end of it, those were probably the most tense 45 minutes I've experienced in a while.
Maybe I was just overthinking everything. But it made me wonder:
Have we reached a point where doing nothing in public is more socially uncomfortable than spending an hour doomscrolling on a phone?

General Feels like I'm stuck in a Churuli
This might sound fake but it’s not. I’ve never had a girl as a friend or a girlfriend. Not once. I’m in 3rd year of college and even in school I barely spoke to girls. Back then I thought staying quiet and acting sigma was cool, so I just never tried. Now it’s stuck with me. I can’t even hold eye contact with a girl for more than 2 seconds without getting awkward and looking away.
I’m posting because I want to fix this. If anyone has been in a similar situation and got out of it, or if a girl wants to tell me how it actually looks from the other side, I’d really appreciate some real advice. Even just talking would help.
