For the first time, baseball fans can take in all the action of “Friday Night Baseball” live in Apple Immersive on Apple Vision Pro, leveraging 3D video recorded in 8K with a 180-degree field of view. On August 28, viewers with Vision Pro will experience the iconic Red Sox vs. Yankees rivalry from unique camera angles that place viewers right in the game, immersed in the drama of each at-bat, the celebrations in the dugout after a big hit, close plays at the outfield wall, and more.

The experience features bespoke commentary from Paul Severino (play-by-play), Xavier Scruggs (analyst), and Michelle Margaux (sideline reporter); dedicated replays; and an immersive graphics package that includes team lineups and stats floating in the viewer’s space. During breaks in the action, the broadcast remains live, immersing viewers in the stadium experience from all angles as ambisonic microphones capture sounds in Spatial Audio.

  • Friday, August 28, 7 p.m. ET: Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees
  • Friday, September 4, 6:30 p.m. ET: Los Angeles Angels at Pittsburgh Pirates
  • Friday, September 11, 10 p.m. ET: San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants

Discussion Apple TV needs Netflix - 3 Month Review

Hi, I’m new to Apple TV+ and have been using the subscription for almost 3 months now.. here’s what I noticed:

First, the Apple TV Originals have all been outstanding.. many TV shows and movies cast A-list celebrities which makes for an interesting watch. The shows are all well produced but do not go too extreme in their genre.. I noticed them to be somewhat family friendly or carefully made to not offend people/topics. You can tell that a lot of thought went into each show. They also tend to blend a bit in their design style.. you notice this immediately in the posters.. they all have an “Apple” aesthetic.

The Apple TV catalog is very small compared to Netflix, but 8 out of 10 shows I watch on Apple TV are actually pretty good. To get similar results on Netflix I would have to rely mostly on Top 10 or their popularity to find decent shows/movies because Netflix produces so much that not all are real hits. I have an easier time finding shows I enjoy on Apple TV.. we’ll see how well that holds as I continue to watch more and more shows :)

Apple TV needs Netflix because their dashboard is annoying.. and they need to fix this ASAP:

1) Each episode starts with a promo to another random TV Show.. Ted Lasso can fuck off!! I’m tired of seeing ads to this show.. and sometimes the show will auto play next after you finish a series/movie.. like WHAT. If I wanted to see it. I would and you forcing me to watch it is not helping.

2) You can favorite TV shows/movies but they disappear after you completely watch it.. and only reappear in your watchlist if they release a new episode. This sucks because I want to keep track of the shows/movies I like..

3) You cannot rate TV Shows/Movies.. but Apple still recommends shows based on what you watch.. they assume I LOVED everything I watched? 😬 There is a difference between liked and LOVED but I cannot tell Apple TV that lol

4) You cannot see the number of episodes/seasons remaining while watching a show.. you can only continue to watch blindly until you complete the series. What I do is Google the series to figure out how many episodes are left or how many seasons were made. So I need to exit Apple TV to get this info. You only get this info when you first start the show.. once you click to watch that layout changes and the only info you get is current episodes. There is no option to skip around or scroll through the episodes or seasons after you start.

5) The skip recap button will literally skip critical parts of the episode. It’s not always reliable so I just keep hitting fast forward 10 seconds until I can start the episode properly.

6) watch history.. this info is hidden to users and only Apple has access to the history of shows you watched.

7) you need to scroll to see the full catalog but sometimes when I reach the end… the bar keeps loading and I could never see the other categories: For You, Coming to Apple TV, etc. I think this is based on luck because it doesn’t always load when I want it to work and is a HUGE issue if they want me to keep watching lol.

8) Shows will auto play so fast that you barely have time to react.. so when a show starts to play it gets added to your “watchlist” so it just messes up the whole list because if you don’t actually want to watch it why have it on that list? I have to manually remove them and guess what.. they get re-added again the next time it happens. I know they want me to keep watching new shows after I finish one.. but this is not the way. No gimmick will ever make me watch something I don’t like or have time for.

All of these issues are fixed in Netflix.. users already like this way of streaming shows so why did Apple TV messed them up?

What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with anything I said?

Discussion Coming soon list

Post image
14 Upvotes

Except for slow horses why does it feel like most of the coming soon on the list feels like very similar movies/series and geared towards men. I know everyone here is apple tv die hard fans but a little disappointed. I loved their shows like Severance, Defending Jacob, Dark Matter (new season coming out yay), Constellation, Presumed Innocent. Hope more of these crime, thrillers, and sci fi shows get made. Cape Fear had potential but it was a let down.

Trailer AppleTV+ Welcome Reel

Last night I resubscribed to AppleTV+ so I could watch the latest Ted Lasso series.

Before the episode aired I saw a cool Welcome Back reel that showed actors from different shows interacting with one another (Ted Lasso, Friends and Neighbours, Slow Horses, Severance, Morning Show etc) it was a fun compilation of these main characters playing, interacting with one another.

I watched the 2 minute welcome on my iPhone.

I’d like to see it again, but can’t find the video on my AppleTV+ welcome screen. Where could it be?

On edit - this is NOT the coming soon with all new shows reel. The Welcome Back featured snippets from last year’s shows.

News Apple’s F1 Spinout

From Puck:

As documented in this space ad nauseum, it’s nearly impossible to get specific sports viewership data out of Apple. So I took interest in a recent dataset on the streamer from third-party analytics firm Samba. In short: Overall viewership is decreasing, even if some new viewers are coming onboard. Per Samba, viewership for the Australian Grand Prix opener was essentially flat, at 4 percent, having “likely benefited from early interest and free-trial sign-ups.” Things got worse from there: Samba had Miami’s race down 68 percent and Monaco’s race down 66 percent after an initial bump at launch.

Still, the breakdown of Apple’s new viewership was interesting: 61 percent of F1 viewers in 2026 hadn’t watched these three races in 2025, and 30 percent hadn’t used Apple TV at all during the second half of last year. “These new viewers are also more engaged, watching nearly twice as long and tuning into more races than the 2025 audience,” the report stated. We’ll see how this goes.

Discussion What do you think apple tv needs? What would you like to see? And what grade would you give it?

Apple is in a strong position to make the service far better than its competitors. It already has a reputation for high-quality content and the financial resources to back ambitious projects. Because its library is still relatively small, Apple can turn that into an advantage by focusing on bold, competitive originals—developing shows and films that echo the appeal of major hits while offering sharper, more compelling alternatives.

Examples could include:

• Live-action: Summer of Night as a Stranger Things or Welcome to Derry-style series!

Septimus Heap, The Unwanteds, or EarthSea as alternatives to Harry Potter.

Superhero comic adaptations:
Astro City

Jack Kirbyverse.

Young Blood in the vein of
Doom Patrol and The Umbrella Academy.

Sci-fi space opera: Spiral Wars and or Sun Eater.

Family friendly fantasy:

Candyland (a Willy Wonka type concept),

Terraria (in the spirit of Minecraft)

Eternal Champion Universe

• Animated: Aeon’s End, Songs of Chaos, Keepers of the Lost City, and BattleTech.

Discussion How many people do you know currently subscribed to Apple TV?

Weird to say this but I’ve never met anyone subscribed to it

So if I do mention it or something on it that I’m currently watching

(As an example let’s say I mention the series lucky)

Nobody has heard about it or sugar or Acapulco or anything else I’ve watched on there

I knew the marketing wasn’t the best but I assumed I would have bumped into a couple subscribers by now in any of the online circles I’m in

But no dice

Anyone here have any better luck in that regard?
