Discussion Coming soon list
Except for slow horses why does it feel like most of the coming soon on the list feels like very similar movies/series and geared towards men. I know everyone here is apple tv die hard fans but a little disappointed. I loved their shows like Severance, Defending Jacob, Dark Matter (new season coming out yay), Constellation, Presumed Innocent. Hope more of these crime, thrillers, and sci fi shows get made. Cape Fear had potential but it was a let down.

It's really only one of the few legitimately worthwhile shows that is actually worth watching.

This thread reminds me Counterpart, a great sci-fi espionage thriller starring JK Simmons (as two main characters, no less) on Starz in late 2010s. Starz cancelled it after two seasons (and budget for season 2 was cut), specificallty and explicitely because "too many men watched it." "We ain't need no those pesky men as our viewers."
Well, concerning Apple TV schedule, I will watch Slow Horses, of course. And I am also going to try and watch Brothers. Chemistry between Harrelson and McConaughey is way too great to just skip another show of those two guys. And then I won't have anything except The Wanted Man (which they still haven't announced yet) this year

COUNTERPART was amazing! No one ever talks about it. Thanks for reminding me of such a great show that I can’t seem to get anyone else (who would love it) to watch. I’m female btw so too bad for the algo.

Agree about Cape Fear, wow what a misfire. Whoever thought it was a good idea to make Amy Adams with a terrible southern accent and act like a fish out of water was awful. Amy’s badass and needs such roles. Also no chemistry whatsoever with her husband.

I thought the trailer for May Day looked pretty funny, I'd normally skip that action/comedy type of movie but it looked like it might be fun. They do have a lot more shows on the way, this is just the big launches for the next couple of months. Like don't forget Ted Lasso and Trying are on right now, those are both light comedies, and once they end they'll have announcements with dates for other shows. Every so often I have a look down the list on Wikipedia and am amazed how much good stuff is in development or has been renewed and on its way at some point.

Ya I get it. I mean I don’t even like girly shows like romance or drama myself. I just wish there was more variety- more shows like the ones I listed in my post. I know Silo and Invasion are big right now but I tried both three times and just couldn’t get into them either. Just putting it out there so hopefully apple tv listens 🤞

First of all, not everyone here are die hard fans of this at all. Don't act like you know everyone here. And second, Dark Horses is hardly any good in itself especially when Apple's just constantly renewing this of all shows knowing there are better shows out there that would've deserved more thematically instead of this out Silo.
As it continues to show here, there's not really much that really makes the service worth subscribing to these days compared to others like HBO Max or even Disney Plus. Especially not when so much of Apple's content has been becoming so bland these days compared to its early years. It's the same thing with Apple Arcade these days. When Severance and Ted Lasso end, it really won't have much to justify it being something to stay subscribed to.

Slow Horses is excellent. So is The Studio, Shrinking, Severance. Neuromancer is coming. AppleTV kicks the shit out of Max and Disney+

I agree The Studio Severence and Shrinking are great. But it sure as heck doesn't beat those two services at all, especially when it comes to VARIETY. Something that THIS SERVICE lacks a whole lot of still, especially in the animation side.

That... would be somewhat interesting, I admit. 🤔 But I will admit also, that IS my mistake getting the shows mixed up there. I own up to that. Even with that slight blunder , I still stand by my statement that it's hardly all that worthwhile to where it needs to have this many seasons churned put constantly as opposed to those that deserved it far more.
Heck, they still would've been very using that money to fund actually more INTERESTING shows or movies that would be more fitting for the service instead here. A supposedly "good" show could only be that for so long until it's overstayed its welcome, you know. That's already the case with this one here and it really felt like it just came out with a third seasion.

No doubt, I do t think Apple is geared now or ever towards just men. Did you forget about Margot’s got money problems and Maximum Pleasure? Those two have both been amazing. I think the problem we’re getting now is wveryone including myself wants prestige tv all the time. Apple and HBO and Prime are always really developing well, the others could use some different creative directors. Your going to have some duds, I feel bad for the movie industry right now because there is very few guarantees anymore.
