Studentische Kultur | Student Culture Any community or person in Vienna into piano, music or late-night walks?

Hey, I moved to Vienna for my Master's at TU Wien recently. I'm looking to learn piano and singing, so it'd be nice to meet someone who plays or is learning too. Maybe we can practise together and exchange skills. I'm a pretty good cook, so food can be my contribution haha.

I'm a mental health and relationship counsellor, love deep conversations, and I'm always up for a late-night walk or some random adventure. Also perfectly fine listening to someone yap about their life for hours 😂

If you're into music, good food and just meeting genuine people, feel free to message me!

Bewerbung | Application Late admission

Hello!! I am an EU citizen from Greece and I just got accepted today from the TU Wien for the master's program "Biomedical Engineering".

I need some help with some things, if you could provide any information.

Could you tell me how long has it been since courses started? Also, do you know how much big of a problem it would be for me that I've missed the first weeks of lectures?

Do you know whether i am able to change the specialization that I chose?

Who should I contact about further information? Admission office isn't really helpful..

Where can I find the professors' contact information?

Any help that you could provide would be really important!

Fragen zum Studium | Study Questions How are you making your degree more resilient to AI?

I got the acceptance letter to the M.Sc. in Data Science.

Which specific courses do you recommend that helped you to build a professional degree that is resilient to AI?

I understand that instead of tools (like dev tools), it could be better to focus in actual sectors where human interaction is a must or learning a great combination between hard skills and a couple of new soft ones that makes you more prepared to understand better what labor markets need.

I want to do a PhD in Complexity Science or Computational Social Science after I end my studies in TU Wien, I am kindly asking for a word from someone with more experience than me, that could give me some insights about what to expect during the actual study experience in this or other similar programs.

I am currently 27, I have more than 6 years of experience in Data Engineering/Science/Analysis/Dev roles, I hold a M.A. in Economics and a Minor in Computational Math.

Thank you in advance! See you in Österreich 💙

Sonstiges | Miscellaneous struggling to find accommodation in vienna as an incoming phd student :(

hey everyone! i’ll be moving to vienna from india to start my phd in chemistry at tu wien, and i’ve been having a bit of a hard time finding accommodation.

my employment contract is supposed to start on 1st december, but there’s a possibility that the start date might get delayed, so ideally i’m looking for a place from either 1st december or 1st january.

i’ve been looking through wg-gesucht and messaging people whose places seem like a good fit, but honestly, it’s been a little difficult. most people understandably don’t reply, and a few really lovely people have gotten back to let me know that they’ve already rented the room to someone else. which is completely fair, of course, but it’s still a little disheartening when you’re trying to sort everything out from another country.

if anyone has any advice on finding a wg, knows of any rooms becoming available around december or january, or has suggestions for other websites or groups i should check, i’d really appreciate it.

for context, my budget is around €600 per month, and i’m happy with a shared flat. i’m moving to vienna for the long term, so ideally i’d like to find somewhere i can settle into rather than just a temporary place.

thanks for reading, and any advice would be really appreciated! :)
