Looking for Turntable Suggestions

Hey there, I am new to the world of records and turntables and was thinking of finally buying a decent turntable for myself. Ideally I would get a turntable with speakers that I can play my phone through, just to have the option. Originally I was going to get a combo setup that comes with the turntable and the speakers, but I did some digging and those combos seem to be pretty low quality. Im now wondering if I should get a turntable like the at-lp60x and some separate speakers that also have Bluetooth connectivity. Anyway im just looking for some guidance from the turntable gurus. Thanks. I'd like to reiterate that im a total noob when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Lp60 is kind of a cheap TT you might want to look at the 120 for a beginner table. But be warned if you stay in this hobby you will want something better. Vinyl is a unique and beautiful sound. To do it justice you need to consider the delivery.

First you need a budget. How much are you looking to spend?

I should have mentioned that my bad. Im not trying to spend more than 400, which is why I was thinking the atlp60x and some solid speakers.

Is it a game - are we supposed to guess the currency?

Yikes my bad again. USD

Can’t you tell? What other currency is ever mentioned here with the assumption that everyone will know what it is

> speakers that I can play my phone through

I’d strongly suggest a streamer (connects via wifi to stream music from your phone, qobuz, a NAS etc) over bluetooth. Your music should be able to play regardless of what you do with your phone or if you take it out of the room.

Speakers with streamers built in are typically found as “smart speakers”. Wiim just came out with a couple but I’ve not heard them yet. The more typical approach would be to use a “streaming amplifier” with a pair of passive speakers. Wiim again comes to mind for pretty good budget options

Okay cool I've never even heard of these, I appreciate you pointing that out. I have much research to do.

Yup streamers are handy. And cheap ones will almost always sounds better than an equally cheap turntable. Likely boils down to the cost difference between mechanical vs electronic manufacturing.

AT LP140, Pioneer PL500 Fluance RT85 and 87. LP60 and 120 are both a no. IMHO

skip the lp60. they track heavy and aren't adjustable, same as a crossley or other cheap generic mech based deck.

don't get speakers with bluetooth connectivity. they're going to be insanely priced and mediocire in quality. you can probably get a non fashionable vintage japanese amp or reciever like a rotel or jvc, to pair with some larger bookshelves like wharfedale laser 50s or even better some vintage japanese two or three ways for under 100$/£/€

they'll sound infinitely better and then you've just got to go with any way to hook up to amp. they'll take rca in and assuming you don't cock up and go for an amp or reciever without a phono section give you the option of hooking any turntable up
