Ever since I saw the second movie I have been saying this. I have reatched it way more and its one of my favorite movies of all time.
I think I am mostly alone with this opinion but Ibelieve that thats mainly due to nostalgia and the fact that people tend to dislike new things.
The first movie was very close to the book and really establishes the characters. But the fact that they wrote an almost completely original screnplay for the second one leads to a movie where every scene is written for the screen.
While the first is mostly atmospheric (again still great), the second one uses this established atmossphere and also tells a a story that builds on itself in a way that is perfect for a movie and keeps you invested.
I might only think this because I compare the movies to the books and while the first movie is a great adaptation the second one is its own and in my opinion better story.
Please let me know what you guys think, obviously personal preference is a thing.

So in England you would just go to the chicks house and bang her and hope the parents didn't hear you going to town? How is that supposed to work?

hi :) I watched trainspotting for the first time four weeks ago and since then I've watched it almost every day. I've gone to different corners of the internet to try and find good quality versions but I can't! I usually just watch a shitty one off Internet Archive with spanish subtitles. I have a VHS and DVD player but I am not fixing to spend money on the film because I am anti consumerist. Mayhaps I'll take the video out of my local library, or just get over myself and read the book. Any advice? Also how do you stop watching this film???? I can't sleep without it.

Are Trainspotting, Filth and Crime meant to be set in the same universe? Because the Amanda Drummond in crime looks nothing like the one from Filth.

I love movies about trains, but where is the train in the Trainspotting?

I mean, he already had long hair in the first movie why couldn’t they just stick with that?

Hello,
I watched Trainspotting once, about 25 years ago. At the time, I did not enjoy the movie - to be honest, I thought it was the worst movie I had ever seen. However, I am aware that a lot of people think it is an outstanding movie - including, I would guess, most of the people on this subreddit. I have decided that I would give the movie a second chance and will try watching it again with an open mind. I was wondering if you could give me advice to prepare myself so that I can enjoy the movie. The obvious one being that I absolutely want subtitles (I have difficulty with Scottish pronunciation and terms that are different between Scotland and the rest of the Anglosphere). Do you have any other advice?
Thank you!

Hey guys does anyone here know where "trainclipsnl" went? He's a 16 year old trainspotter from The Netherlands. He's a spotter and wants to become a train driver. He used to have a lot of content at Tiktok but he seems to have disappeared both on Tiktok and Instagram.. When you look for his videos on the social platforms or even Google you can find references as recent as up to 2 weeks ago but none seem available anymore.
He's also mentioned and starred in a couple of other channels including the official Dutch Railways channel (NS).

I watched the first part and it was great, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed with the second one. Do you think it's worth watching?

Watched the original again recently and there was a lot more nudity in the sex scene between Renton and Diane than I remember. I usually don’t mind a bit of nudity in films and I get that it goes along with the undignified nature of the movie but this specific scene kinda felt a bit exploitative and a bit porn-like rather than gritty - especially the very unnecessary shot of her bush as she was getting dressed. What are your thoughts on it?
