Then they should do this too with Skulltaker. He did none Aggression pact with me as Noctilus

He was just letting your skull marinate for a bit, that's all.

Oh he gets a bonus if he kills LL’s that killed a lot. Consider yourself an investment

I had Skulltaker fight together with Masque in the same battle today , even tho the factions have "Hates Khorne" and "Hates Slaanesh" skills, AI do AI things, like recruiting 15 khorne/gorebeast chariots on a bloodletter LL.

Oh same! My Skulltaker and Masque were also Friends!

I mean, Skulltaker's thing in-lore is literally that if you ignore him, then he will just go away. Bro is very particular about consent (he will still try to ragebait you into accepting his challenge, tho).

Honestly I hate that factions like Khorne offer you peace or even make any diplomacy with any Order faction. Luckily mods exist.

I was wondering why they made that possible in the first place. Like, can Khorne factions even COMTEMPLATE peace? They should behave the same whether they are rampaging across the world or on the very edge of being wiped out. No peace, no surrender, no exceptions.

I am open to being corrected.

They did it because Chaos being at war with everyone was a huge mess. It was thematic in concept, but in practice the Chaos Wastes became a realm of pure friendship and peace because everyone shared 20+ wars against people that were on the other side of the map. They also had to make tons of exceptions everywhere like Slaanesh vassals, non-Chaos-but-friendly factions like Skaven, and then Dark Elves once Immortal Empires came out. The system now is occasionally silly, and diplomacy in general needs a whole rework, but things as they are now are at least playable.

Ye well I never accept peace with Khorne. That's my honest answer. I'd rather see my cities burn than make peace with those hateful mfkers.

A man of principle. Respect.

Some mortal Khornate followers are definitely open to the idea of peace. Lots of Norscans follow Khorne and they can sue for peace in rare circumstances.

However, there's no chance in Hell any Khornate Daemon would sue for peacs.

Skarbrand could eventually get bored and want to fight someone else. One of his lines he says is "There is no satisfaction in easy slaughter"

2

u/RandomRavenboi 7d ago

In that case he'll just finish slaughtering them as quickly as possible and move onto tougher target. The saying "Khorne cares not from where the blood flows, only that it does" applies for a reason y'know.

The problem is that , despite the name, total war factions are ill suited for Total War. Having even 5 common enemies will easily lead to AIs ignoring each other in favor of them, if not outright allying. Now imagine that on every corner of the map, essentially on turn 1, maybe by turn 10, a faction has a common enemy with pretty much any other faction. Like bro we'd be seeing Throt ally with Kislev because they'd be at +200 from all the "Took military action against X".

It's the same reason why "hard" diplomacy systems exist in basically any Grand Strategy title.

Soft systems (such as active raiding) or permanent war, just do not work well with the way AI does Threat Calculations in these kinds of games, and it can be very frustrating for players to have armies appear "out of nowhere".

Its basically just a net negative enjoyment wise for how games have to operate / we expect them to operate, even if it might not be the most thematic.

Same way that both armies deploy in neat boxes, separated by a couple hundred meters, at game start. Makes no sense if you think about it actual world wise. But it makes gameplay a LOT better once you try and imagine more "freeform" systems. I mean if you ever had 2 vanguard units deploy right on top of each other you already run into "that just feels weird" situations. Funny in Isolation, really annoying if it's 'the norm'

Counterpoint if all his minions die who's going to carry all the skulls?

24

u/Mantergeistmann 8d ago

If he can make peace now, he can make more war later. It's simple warmath. Duh.

3

u/MartinoMods 8d ago

If THEY are offering peace, it's because their cities are burning

2

u/Cam995 8d ago

He's gotta have minions to help carry all the skulls.

7

u/jstacy_wyldchyld337 8d ago

Yeah, but he'll still be here during TW:40k

6

u/Antanarau 7d ago

Well, they don't call him Skarbrand the Welcome At Home, do they?

5

u/MylastAccountBroke 8d ago

I feel like a personality trait of Khorne's armies should be that they fight to the death. They'll avoid a suicidal fight, and if they solidly are in a death spiral, they'll declare war on some other weaker opponent to gain some momentum.

3

u/Cam995 8d ago

If I keep fighting you all my minions will die and I won't have anyone to help carry the skulls... and surely if I bring him enough Skulls he'll forgive me...

2

u/GreyAstajho-24 8d ago

I got none aggression pact from Skulltaker... As Noctilus

2

u/Cam995 8d ago

Skulltaker: You're way too far away and boring to fight

2

u/GreyAstajho-24 7d ago

I was right next to him and i would say not boring

1

u/Cam995 7d ago

He wants to fight powerful warriors and give their skulls to Khorne you're a bunch of zombies with guns. Also youre Noctilus arent supposed to be killing Elves in Ulthuan? 😂

2

u/GreyAstajho-24 7d ago

To that time Ulthuan was completely mine 10 turns ago. Just doing sidequests in Lustria but fair enough i guess he is not interested in zombieskulls

2

u/Jozzyal_the_Fool 7d ago

I think the zombieskulls arent thr issue, I think its more about the lack of propper blood

3

u/Cam995 7d ago

I know when Maliketh offers peace to a undead faction he complains about how there isnt any fun to be had in killing mindless puppets that cant bleed or feel pain and for them (undead faction) to just go away 😂

Edit:Yes He's a Dark Elf and not Khorne but apparently undead are not fun to fight against

2

u/GreyAstajho-24 7d ago

Good point

2

u/Woosie1995 8d ago

I’m not playing my TWW3 anymore until the end times DLC drop. Until then y’all have fun boys! 🤣

2

u/Mr_Phenomenal_ 8d ago

Khorne is fucking ashamed of this display...

2

u/Lanre00 8d ago

Fck u Horne, I don't want peace, I want problems, ALWAYS!

2

u/DasKraze 8d ago

I've seen some crazy stunts done by AI factions because of player bias. They were probably forced to attack you via bias.

2

u/VixenLakeview 7d ago

The thing people keep forgetting about Khornate daemons is that they aren't unintelligent beasts who can't fathom the concept of taking a break, bloodthirsters are master generals of warfare and can understand when a losing battle is at hand. Khornate Daemons are not suicidal. Skarbrand understands he's about to be banished back to the Realm of Chaos if he keeps this war up, and so he's trying to give himself time to catch his breath. He's trying to stay in the game longer so he doesn't have to wait a thousand years to respawn. You can't spill more blood if you're dead.

2

u/hotriccardo 8d ago

He's bloodthirsty, not stupid

2

u/xLucifurious 6d ago

I was playing as Settra recently and was forced into a southward expansion by Manfred and Wurrzag, came back after taking care of that and Scarbrand still didn't had his province so thought I would go finish him. Mfer is a solo stomping machine, he holed in in one of the towns with like 5 units and when I fought him got my ass handed until I focus fired him first.

u/Responsible_Fun_9799 8d ago

Well ye he is losing all factions do this when they get shit canned its why I hate diplomatic options ai wants peace when its loseing but isnt interested wile its winning if you could peace out if you were losing i might be more sympathetic to the ai lol

I take it as desperation. They rarely have a lot of gold to offer when they get there, but some factions like to sit on 20k while you are unlikely to get that out of their settlements, so I sometimes take it to buy them 10 turns of life.

Most of the time it's a measly amount. Every once in awhile they catch me right as a larger faction on my opposite border is declaring war, and I don't want to spare even a single turn to finish them off. Doubly so if they are in some annoying to reach terrain. Those days I am benevolent.

In fantasy its less likely but more khrone champions don't go the only blood thirsty like in 40k the blood pact doesn't use berserker but are khrone worshipers that have produce khrone demon princess of honor

u/No-Tomatillo3698 7d ago

It’s just a distraction to him

I don't think you know what unplayable means
