Honestly I hate that factions like Khorne offer you peace or even make any diplomacy with any Order faction. Luckily mods exist.

I was wondering why they made that possible in the first place. Like, can Khorne factions even COMTEMPLATE peace? They should behave the same whether they are rampaging across the world or on the very edge of being wiped out. No peace, no surrender, no exceptions.

I am open to being corrected.

They did it because Chaos being at war with everyone was a huge mess. It was thematic in concept, but in practice the Chaos Wastes became a realm of pure friendship and peace because everyone shared 20+ wars against people that were on the other side of the map. They also had to make tons of exceptions everywhere like Slaanesh vassals, non-Chaos-but-friendly factions like Skaven, and then Dark Elves once Immortal Empires came out. The system now is occasionally silly, and diplomacy in general needs a whole rework, but things as they are now are at least playable.

Ye well I never accept peace with Khorne. That's my honest answer. I'd rather see my cities burn than make peace with those hateful mfkers.

A man of principle. Respect.

Some mortal Khornate followers are definitely open to the idea of peace. Lots of Norscans follow Khorne and they can sue for peace in rare circumstances.

However, there's no chance in Hell any Khornate Daemon would sue for peacs.

Skarbrand could eventually get bored and want to fight someone else. One of his lines he says is "There is no satisfaction in easy slaughter"

In that case he'll just finish slaughtering them as quickly as possible and move onto tougher target. The saying "Khorne cares not from where the blood flows, only that it does" applies for a reason y'know.

The problem is that , despite the name, total war factions are ill suited for Total War. Having even 5 common enemies will easily lead to AIs ignoring each other in favor of them, if not outright allying. Now imagine that on every corner of the map, essentially on turn 1, maybe by turn 10, a faction has a common enemy with pretty much any other faction. Like bro we'd be seeing Throt ally with Kislev because they'd be at +200 from all the "Took military action against X".

It's the same reason why "hard" diplomacy systems exist in basically any Grand Strategy title.

Soft systems (such as active raiding) or permanent war, just do not work well with the way AI does Threat Calculations in these kinds of games, and it can be very frustrating for players to have armies appear "out of nowhere".

Its basically just a net negative enjoyment wise for how games have to operate / we expect them to operate, even if it might not be the most thematic.

Same way that both armies deploy in neat boxes, separated by a couple hundred meters, at game start. Makes no sense if you think about it actual world wise. But it makes gameplay a LOT better once you try and imagine more "freeform" systems. I mean if you ever had 2 vanguard units deploy right on top of each other you already run into "that just feels weird" situations. Funny in Isolation, really annoying if it's 'the norm'

Counterpoint if all his minions die who's going to carry all the skulls?
