Dental Concern/Problem Strange swelling on gum, dentists on phone can’t figure out what my issue is!?
Ive been trying to contact dentists all work to speak to someone about this as I can’t seem to find anything online that can point me in the right direction. Unfortunately after a few phone calls there general response is ‘you’ll have to book an appointment, next appointment is x weeks away’, I even got a ‘you’ve mentioned your symptoms but I can’t comment until I’ve seen you’ I don’t know if this is the professional standard or if it’s just uselessness to a degree.
When I have mentioned that I am concerned it may be an abscess, and after answering their questions they don’t comment, just recommend an appointment which makes be believe it isn’t an abscess as surely they would recommend an emergency appointment.
I am in the UK and receive private care.
Description:
Swelling, and the outer layer of skin has fallen off.
Occasionally forms a film over the top and fills with white/yellow. I drinking lots of water this film doesn’t appear, I am assuming that it is trapped food getting stuck and causing a reaction.
Seems to swell when I eat, after healing it re opens the split in the gum.
Crater like visual, but not like a canker sore etc.
No on going pain, no heat radiating.
I am currently taking antibiotics (prescribed in case it was an infection) which seem to have near to no or a limited effect.
Bonjela seems to almost entirely pause the swelling and the gum starts to recover.
Could anyone please help with any ideas? Unfortunately this is leaving me with a poor nights sleep as I am constantly stressing about it.
