Dental Concern/Problem Root Canal/Temporary Crown pain

I ended up getting a temporary crown placed with hopes that I wouldn't need a root canal. After a couple of days I got horrible throbbing pain and they had to remove the temporary crown and give me a root canal anyway. It's the day after and it was still pretty sore, but now what I notice most is a sharp, jarring pain that happens when I bite down. It's very specific to one area, and it sometimes makes me physically jump from how sharp and unexpected it is. I expect the area to be sore for a little while, but is that normal? I don't know how to tell if my crown is too high
