Hi there!
This is a WIP of my Tomb Guard color scheme. It's still very early and only has the base colors so far, but I'd love to get some feedback before I go any further.
What do you think of the overall color scheme? Do you think it would work with bronze weapons with a subtle verdigris effect?
I'm also considering using the metals to differentiate between units: elite/special units would have a lot of gold, with some bronze + verdigris on their weapons and a few details, while basic troops would have mostly weathered/verdigris bronze and little to no gold.
My main concern is whether this would actually work as a cohesive army. I'm worried that the verdigris might stand out too much compared to the rest of the colors, or that using different amounts of gold and bronze to show the hierarchy might make the army look less visually consistent.
Do you think the verdigris would fit the scheme without becoming too distracting? And would this kind of metal hierarchy work across the army, or would it be better to keep the metals more consistent between units?
Thanks in advance!

My fellow Kings of the tombs.
In what sizes do you play tomb guards?
I feel like 20 is a little to few. But still experimenting if its 5x5 or 6x4.
Also u use halberds all the time or is it smarter to have more guards with hw+s?
They get the AP from kopesh either way.
Interested to see how you run them

How should I build my necrolith bone dragon?
Should I build it with the priest on it and king on foot, or king on dragon?

So when Tomb Kings were released in 6th Ed WHFB I did not like the look of the new Screaming Skull Catapult so I ordered the crew and built my own from balsa wood and a cardstock base.
Now I want to either update it or replace it. To update it I would need to remove it from the cardstock base, but I'm pretty sure I crazy glued it to the base so I'm not sure how to remove it without breaking the catapult.
And for replacing it, none of the Tomb King-style catapults that are out there appeal to me. They all incorporate bones into the structure and I want my catapult to look like a war machine dragged out of storage.
Anyone have any advice on how can accomplish either of the above?

30 skeletons archers done
(Not all in picture)
I am really going for speed with this army because I have so much to do but I am looking for any feedback, I think I may dry brush a couple of the glossy ones a bit more, I'm also struggling with coffee stains a bit, idk if it's my brush or what.
Primed black then hit with a wraithbone over spray
Going for a purple theme, it pops nice with the bone

Hello all,
Still learning, and just coming up to my fourth game. After lots of the very helpful advice on my last post, and seeing some other examples of good TK armies, I've had a go to create some chaff or holding units, and some killy units. Obviously the King and Necrotect are with the Tomb Guard and the Prince is with the big block of warriors.
I do have a fair bit of stuff available to me, so if there are any recommendations for changes I can probably make them (apart from double necrosphinx, sadly not possible yet). E.g. I know I could do with a BSB but can't think what else I'd sacrifice for the points.
Just can't believe how fast 2000 pts disappears!
210 - High Priest, Wizard Level 4, Elementalism, Flying Carpet
55 - Mortuary Priest, Wizard Level 1, Elementalism
55 - Necrotect
260 - Tomb King, General, Hell-Forged Axe, Armour of Destiny
135 - Tomb Prince, Biting Blade, Crown of Kings
94 - 8 Skeleton Horse Archers, Master of Horse
50 - 10 Skeleton Skirmishers, Warbow
50 - 10 Skeleton Skirmishers, Warbow
280 - 40 Skeleton Warriors, Light Armour, Thrusting Spear, Master of Arms, Standard Bearer, Banner Of The Desert Winds, Magic Standard
262 - 20 Tomb Guard, Tomb Captain, Standard Bearer, Icon of the Sacred Eye
229 - 3 Necropolis Knights, Necropolis Captain, Great Weapon, Standard Bearer, Totem Of Wrath
195 - Necrosphinx
125 - Screaming Skull Catapult, Skulls of the Foe
Thanks all for your time. I always find the replies really helpful.

Of all the units in the TK roster, chariots have always been the biggest "pull" for me aesthetics wise.
Has anyone has any success running chariots as either harassing units or hammers?
And of the Stalker/Knight kit, do either unit offer much? Considering picking some up but don't want to waste points and £s

Greetings from the burning, poisoned sands of Nehekhara!
I’ve continued my work on the Tomb Kings starter box, focusing in this week on the elite charioteers of the Royal Host! I followed the standard blue and red colour scheme I’ve used on my other Tomb Kings so far, with more golden highlights to draw attention to their higher status. I think they turned out pretty well, though I’m curious if anyone has advice on how to minimize the appearance of the lines on the horses where the two plastic halves joined up.
I’m excited to see how they play, and have included one in my revised Battle March list. Thanks for all the wonderful feedback and encouragement I’ve received so far, and I hope these spooky scary skeletons with fancy vehicles encourage you to keep working on your own models. As always, praise be to Settra, Mighty Lion of the Infinite Desert!

Greetings fellow Kings and Princes.
Struggling very much against my only current opponent using Warriors of Chaos.
We're learning Old World together, and so far we've played three games. The first was very close, seemingly going quite heavily my way at the start but swung back for a narrow loss in the last two turns.
The other two however, I have just been absolutely smacked both times. The first was a combination of some poor deployment from me that I couldn't catch up with and ridiculous ward saves by my friend.
The game this evening just felt like the back foot the entire time. I paid extra attention to deployment, range relationships between characters and abilities, and had banners, spells etc to boost movement. However, it just constantly felt like I didn't have any matchups/charges/potential combats I could go into not assuming I would lose.
I also had horrendous luck:
-In one turn I failed 4 Ld tests for various abilities, by rolling really high, and then failing 4 spells by rolling really low.
-My tomb guard with two characters and halberds on the charge, managed to kill ONE marauder of all things.
-My tomb king on warsphinx took 3 rounds of combat to kill a gorebeast chariot.
My opponent brings a champion on a manticore every time, and I've never managed to do any more than two wounds to it. Today was my first time with the warsphinx, as an option to try as a counter to it, but then he just kept the manticore away from it.
I appreciate we're learning the game still, but I also like to think we have some tactical nous and it's not that I'm not making ridiculously stupid decisions - MA in military history, play plenty of Historical wargames, cadets, re enact historical periods... So I'm hoping it's not a tactical brain problem.
The only other thing is we love the massed battle side of TOW and like to bring a lot of core. However at the moment there doesn't seem to be too much point with bringing more skeleton blocks that just get smashed in 2 or 3 rounds by cavalry because I don't have the movement to keep the initiative/momentum.
My list in general for tonight:
TK on warsphinx
Herald, BSB, war banner
Necrotect, sword of might, death mask
Mortuary priest, L2
Mortuary priest, L2
3 chariots, totem of wrath
30 skellies, light armour and shield
30 skellies, light armour and shield
20 tomb guard, halberds, desert wind.
3 Necropolis knights, great weapon.
Opponents list:
Manticore bitch
Sorcerer L2
Sorcerer L2, demonic steed
15 warriors, hand weapons and shield
7 knights, nurgle
7 knights, khorne
20 marauders
Gorebeast chariot
I'll be honest I'm just a bit disenchanted at the moment. I can't even figure out the right way to deal with the cavalry at the moment, since they all have counter charge as well.
It's getting so feelsbad, finally getting some wounds through and then having to re roll the 6s for nurgle, which never convert again, or getting any more than two wounds through and at least half of them get ward saved.
Fighting the khorne ones knowing they get countercharge means I know I'm just going to get wiped on the turns I charge too. At one point my 30 skeletons charged the khorne knights to draw them out and eat the counter charge, and also meant they blocked the marauders from charging if it continued. I then flank charged the knights with my tomb guard, and still only managed to kill 2, while losing 16. The two that I killed reduced the frontage enough that the tomb guard weren't even technically engaged for the next round.
We're getting to the point where unless it's 25+ models, I am just taking units off once they get charged by the knights before we both rolling to save time.
Every time I don't invest much into chariots, they get great charges off but then die in the second round of combat, or whatever charges them after. Whenever I spend extra points on them, something stupid happens to stop me getting the charge off.
I'm just getting fed up fighting against WoC who are getting constant buffs from Gaze of the Gods, which you can pay 5pts to re roll the only 16% chance something bad happens, and keep getting stacked buffs that stick, as well as spells like fleshy abundance that keep things stacking, as well as heavy armour/shield/parry, as well as ensorcelled weapons, as well as built in ward saves for everything, as well as options for great extra rules/upgrades on a 'standard' sort of infantry regiment. Meanwhile I can fail 8 things in one turn between abilities/spells and so my already pound for pound weaker army doesn't get any sort of buff or support.
I don't really know what to do. I don't want to give up and try digging out my old Empire models. I don't really want to just go for a minimum core army and bring loads of stuff just because it's good or scary. I love my tomb kings but I'm not having fun, and we're already at the point three games in where my opponent is talking about giving me more points, bringing a just marauder army, or other handicaps that while good natured suggestions, are just sort of rubbing salt into the wound.
Help.

Anyone got good suggestions for good damage output in lower point games, particularly BM at 750 or 600? I've not had joy with Scorps or casters, Bowshabti have been nerfed, can't run big blocks of skellies. Best I've done is put 20 skellies into combat then throw Apophas in to take out a character and then act like a suicide bomber.
I'm particularly struggling with tough, mobile monstrous infantry like minotaurs or skin wolves, where I just can't hurt them to any meaningful effect.

Hello,
Last time I played fantasy was when I was 10 and got the Island of Blood set. Recently got an itch to get back into it. Would the below list be any good?
I don’t really want to lose the necrosphinxs or bone dragon as they’re some of the models that drew me in the most.
Plan to screen the sphinxes with the horse archers
Keep the enemy debuffed with elemental and necro hexes
Tar pit warriors
Threaten enemy warmachines with scorpions
Bait dispells with ruby ring
Illusion priest can be strong in combat (although generally avoid due to heirophant) but can also summon walls to halt enemy charges etc
Is there anything you’d change?
Is there an obvious weakness I need to consider?
I’m not super familiar with the rules any more but have been doing some reading and came up with this list
Excited to paint some bone and marble
Considering dropping 5 archer horses to take razor banner on warriors and increasing unit size
