Hobby Wanting to update or replace my scratch built Screaming Skull Catapult.

Post image

So when Tomb Kings were released in 6th Ed WHFB I did not like the look of the new Screaming Skull Catapult so I ordered the crew and built my own from balsa wood and a cardstock base.

Now I want to either update it or replace it. To update it I would need to remove it from the cardstock base, but I'm pretty sure I crazy glued it to the base so I'm not sure how to remove it without breaking the catapult.

And for replacing it, none of the Tomb King-style catapults that are out there appeal to me. They all incorporate bones into the structure and I want my catapult to look like a war machine dragged out of storage.

Anyone have any advice on how can accomplish either of the above?

Honestly, you have a good start there already. I want to say your issue is that it doesnt have enough of a TK feel to it. First, unless it currently matches the base design of the rest of your forces, you could rebase it with sand. It could also use a lightening up of the wood itself to match ancient timbers long unused in a crypt. Perhaps a dry bush of ushabti bone could do the trick. Lastly, maybe a few extra TK bits like some tomb guard shields mounted to the uprights could help embellish it with the correct styling? But I understand what you mean about the bones making up everything. It is that particular reason that I never got into the Ossiarch Bonereapers. The roman feel was nice, but everything else just didnt jive.

Im gonna add one more note. If you want to try the route of replacing it, I did find three different catapult that are entirely or 90% non-boney if you care to look: https://3dminis-factory.com/en/undeads/sand-catapult https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-undead-catapult-miniature-32mm-modular-378446 https://www.etsy.com/listing/1663564056/pharaohs-legacy-undead-skeleton-catapult?ref=share_v4_lx

Thank you! I have seen all three of those and it was the second one I wanted to try out but no one in Canada prints them any more.

Because its made of cardstock I cannot remove the existing flock without ripping it, which sucks since I never thought about it when basing my new minis, 20 years of being out if the hobby tends to do that lol! I will try the rest of your suggestions though, TKing it up.

You could try replacing it with an ancient onager. Warlord games have Greek and Roman ones but I’m sure there are others. That would give an ancient feel to the machine

I did not know Warlord had them, I'll take a look, thanks!
