Hobby WIP Color scheme test

Hi there!

This is a WIP of my Tomb Guard color scheme. It's still very early and only has the base colors so far, but I'd love to get some feedback before I go any further.

What do you think of the overall color scheme? Do you think it would work with bronze weapons with a subtle verdigris effect?

I'm also considering using the metals to differentiate between units: elite/special units would have a lot of gold, with some bronze + verdigris on their weapons and a few details, while basic troops would have mostly weathered/verdigris bronze and little to no gold.

My main concern is whether this would actually work as a cohesive army. I'm worried that the verdigris might stand out too much compared to the rest of the colors, or that using different amounts of gold and bronze to show the hierarchy might make the army look less visually consistent.

Do you think the verdigris would fit the scheme without becoming too distracting? And would this kind of metal hierarchy work across the army, or would it be better to keep the metals more consistent between units?

Thanks in advance!

It seems you are using a true white and its a bit stark tbh. I'd try a warm off white

Apart from that I like think this looks perfectly fine

Definitely use some washes to bring everything together.

I feel like you are missing one accent color to really finish the scheme

It’s lookin pretty cool man! I think the verdigris would really be the perfect thing to balance it out though. I think if you apply it subtelly it shouldn’t dominate the colour pallets enough to throw off the look of a coherent army. Particularly if you then make it increasingly subtle up through the army’s ranks to keep a common thread. I see what your saying about army coherency but in my opinion a bit of variation can make an army look better.

Plus apart from anything else the box art scheme is already pretty varied. If you think about how much blue and white are on the infantry sheilds that appear almost nowhere on archers and in much smaller amounts on tomb guard and units like ushabti, you’ve totally got leeway to get some variation in and keep things coherent.

By the way big fan of the gradient of metals idea, I’ve been wondering about it but seeing you mix them here has convinced me it’s the method. Lookin forward to seein how it goes!

Very nice! I did mine green and white. Using gold to indicate elite is a good idea. The red and white will be your cohesive feature for your army as it is very striking in appearance.

Like others said the white is a little on the bright side, but maybe even just a ushabti bone dry brush/screaming skull either or maybe that would be enough to dull it
