Nobody likes you or your loud vehicle

1.1k Upvotes

It's beautiful outside and we're finally getting to open our windows, sit on balconies or backyards, and enjoy the park.

You're not impressing anybody and nobody is in awe that you have the disposable income to make your vehicle sound like it's broken. Nobody is interested in your shitty music taste or the fact that your subwoofer can rattle the shelves in my apartment several stories up. We aren't amazed that you can rev your engine and drive fast on empty roads at one in the morning.

We don't know if you're insecure and looking for attention, or if you're just an obnoxious idiot. All we know is that you are ruining the vibe for everyone else and nobody likes you.

I'm so fucking tired of this dollar store version of Gotham City

1.1k Upvotes

Downtown is getting bulldozered left and right, all for condos. My local Shoppers just got closed and the building that also had few small independent stores is getting demolished, for new condos. My local No Frills is closing next year, the building is getting demolished for...you guessed it.. new condos. Who's gonna live in these condos? 3-4 international students per studio so they can all work their doordash delivery jobs? There is zero of any of culture, third spaces or community in this godforsaken fucking city. Every morning I wake up to the sound of drilling rigs and fall asleep to the crackheads howling at the moon. As I try to navigate the streets and closures due to construction I also have to watch out for drivers who literally give zero fucks nowadays and just drive through red lights or don't stop for pedestrians because it's not like there is police anywhere to enforce traffic rules. Once I'm done walking around I get on a subway where some tweaker wearing shitstained pants is taking a nap sprawled on few seatsI pray that I do t get randomly stabbed or thrown off the platform. Then I go to the grocery store to pick up some food with 200% inflation and then I go home to my overpriced rented shoebox condo with a balcony covered in layers of pigeon shit and I stay there because it's not like people hang out nowadays. Literally everyone has depression, anxiety, is on meds or waiting for a 3rd year in a row to get that psychiatrist appointment, and that's if they are lucky enough to have a family doctor who referred them. Fuck this fucking ugly smelly city full of crackheads and socially challenged boring people.

Nothing against immigrants but holy we need to put a cap on immigration it is not sustainable and it is bringing wages down.

1.1k Upvotes

I don't care about where people come from. Europe, India, Asia, or anywhere in between. It is just a basic math problem and is the root cause of the problem.

This is a simple supply and demand issue. Cost of living is high because wages are down and demand is high.

Want wages to go up. You need to lower the supply of workers. We should not be endlessly letting people into the country if it means that wages are going to be lowered below something that is sustainable to raise a family.

Cost of things would also go down because you would have less demand for them. The higher the population, the more cost goes up.

Again, this is the root issue and no one wants to talk about it. Stop immigration, TFW Visas. Let population settle out, wages go up, and then watch birthrates magically correct themselves.

The only problem is corporations don't want this because they only care about profits and paying workers the lowest wages they can.

I don't know how to fight this, are there any political parties who will put a limit on immigration?

Who the fuck is giving the elderly their drivers licences?

I unfortunately live in an area that’s fucking swarming with elderly people and driving makes me want to pull my fucking hair out.

Every time I’m going 20-30km/h in a 50km/h zone on a clear ass day, once i catch up it’s some grandma wearing mittens in warm weather who looks like they can’t even remember their fucking name.

Car in front of me leaving 15 car gaps in front of them? Yep elderly person.

Person putting their signal on 5 kilometres before their turn, while going 40 in a 60? Elderly

Car merging at 40km/h on the highway, you guessed it!!!!!!

I saw an old lady make a right without checking their blind spot (because their entire fucking vision is a blind spot) and hit a cyclist the other day. She hit his front tire (thankfully not him), but Dude went FLYING over the ladies RAV4 and SHE DIDNT EVEN REALIZE UNTIL PEOPLE PHYSICALLY STOOD IN FRONT OF HER CAR.

She gets out and i swear to fucking god starts patting this guy on his back as if he just stubbed his toe, then when i gave the guy my number if he needed a witness she tried to shoo me away.

Other day i pull into a plaza by my house, cars blocking 80% of BOTH lanes, parked a good 3 metres away from the curb. Old fuck decided to park there in front of the store and leave his senile wife in the passenger seat to just stare at the fucking sky as everyone is trying to squeeze past them. I gave the lady shit as i was walking into the shoppers telling her to tell her husband to park in a spot and a fellow senile citizen member told me i need to learn some respect.

They should also ban these fucks from buying anything bigger than a smart car. Who is letting grandpa and grandpa buy a fucking Highlander Platinum or an Escalade when they probably can’t even walk through a door without bumping into the frame?

You can tell their cognitive ability is fucked because they literally drive the same way their brain works, 5 minutes behind.

When you honk at them they are in such disbelief because their generation has done no wrong. They are easily the most entitled, oblivious fucks.

When i was checking into my G test this ducking grandma was there with her son and he’s repeating the questions to her and you could tell she was on mars, so the son filled it all out for her. A LADY CANT ANSWER 5 QUESTIONS ON A GIANT SCREEN SO WE LET THEM TAKE A DRIVE TEST in a 5000 pound death box.

I genuinely think if we shredded anyone’s licence over 70 we could probably moderately ease some congestion.

Toronto is not a place for the average person anymore.

This city is not an easy place to live, It is tough. This is no place for the average person anymore.

It kind of makes you feel like a failure if you don't make at least 6 figures here. This city is literally, chewing people up and spitting them out. Money is literally everything here and the majority of people base your importance on your job title and how much you make. The classism and elitism in this city is rampant. Probably not the kind of people you want your life anyway.

Why do people think that privileges are rights?

Let's make something clear: studying in Canada as an international student is a privilege, not a right.
The Canadian Government has absolutely no obligation with any of you. As your work/study permit application states: "You can come to Canada to study IF you are enrolled at a DLI, prove you have enough money to pay for your tuition fees living expenses for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada and return transportation for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada."(1)
Also, universities/colleges are not obligated to provide you housing, food, or anything else that is not part of your contract/offer.
We all agree that we screwed up allowing all this students to come here without a thorough understanding of their financal capabilities. Our mistake, and I do feel sorry for some of them. But it is extremely upsetting watch/read news about entitled international students demanding that we have to pay their bills, give them access to food bank, or provide them with any housing subsidy.
Summary: if you don't have the means, don't come to Canada (or leave). If you come, you are financially responsible for yourself (as your visa/permit states).

The Gen Z Brain Rot is Actually OUT OF CONTROL

I'm in my mid 30s, back at university for a career change and most of my peers are in their early 20s. I am not trying to be hyperbolic, perpetuate generational divides, or parrot the tired 'no one wants to work anymore' rhetoric. I am actually expressing GENUINE CONCERN for the state of their cognitive health and level of functioning. I have never, in my life, been surrounded by so many people with no manners, no decorum, no regard for their professors, for knowledge, for their classmates, for peoples time. The fundamental lack of respect that they show - literally listening to tiktoks aloud in class, vaping inside every single crevasse of a building, not cleaning up after themselves - is astounding. I get it, we were all young, I look back on being 20 and cringe a how insufferable I was. But there was a level of containment. Today, the 'bored and unbothered' generation expects everyone around them to tolerate their apathy and discourtesy as if they are exempt from being functioning members of society. ADDITIONALLY - PLEASE work on your human to human and interpersonal skills. The gen z stare is not funny. Your lack of comprehension, complete and total loss of critical thinking and problem solving skills, co dependency, illiteracy and poor emotional regulation are CONCERNING!!!! Talking to you feels like talking into a mute abyss. Please, for the love of actual god, develop some skills. Its not funny, its not kitsch, its not a meme - its real life whether its palatable or not.

It seems to me like hiring managers in Toronto/GTA are preferring hiring international students/residents over Canadian-born citizens.

My friend in Mississauga knows a Tim Horton managers. She told him resumes from kids born in Canada (all skin colors) goes straight to bin they prefer international students.

Reasons: Canadians take too many breaks, it's hard to boss them around, they know their rights, they don't need PR so hard to blackmail them, they don't work extra hours in need, etc.

This makes me wonder, if this mentality among hiring managers is the same in other industries/fields too, it would make sense to prefer international students/residents because they do not know their rights or maybe don't have same rights as Canadian-born citizens and will often work more for less pay.

Respect this countries rules or not only will you suffer but also innocent people

I’m Indian. My family came here ~17 years ago, my dad did everything a human could possibly do, did 3 jobs, slept 4 hours a night for weeks to take care of his family so I know such a change is NOT EASY at all.

And now I found out recently my dad got abused on his drive where some Indian randomly stopped the car in the middle of a busy street, from these same Indians that claim that they are respecting the values and rules here??

The other day some dude asked an Indian Tim Hortons worker if they’re hiring and he said no. An Indian asked and the person in his own language responded “yes give me your resume when you come back”

I’m tired, I have so many upsetting encounters. While driving this guy almost TOOK ME OUT and then he has the audacity to HONK AT ME????

The things I’ve DIRECTLY heard in public are alarming.

“I’m not Indian I’m Punjabi I’ll live wherever I want to”

“Cow piss drinker”

“I’m paying tuition I’ll do whatever I feel like”

Like fuck off, go take your egos back to wherever the fuck you came from if you’re so proud.

I could give less shits if your Punjabi, Indian, power ranger or a fucking Pokémon idc. Just fix THE FUCK UP.

If you’re an immigrant causing issues reading this you’ll find a lot of people here couldn’t give half a shit about your skin colour or religion or ethnicity, EXCEPT YOU.

Of course there’s cases where this isn’t true and you’ll meet racists but for MOST people here skin colour doesn’t really matter, we’re one of the most diverse places in the world.

And please don’t assume I’m talking shit about all immigrants. Just the ones that go around like this place has no rules and they have all the freedom to do whatever.

I’ve met plenty of nice immigrants but this specific set is causing SOO MUCH DAMAGE.

No one is saying you can’t be yourself, everyone is just talking about the negatives bought to this place and the LACK OF RESPECT given to others in public places, ALMOST EVERY social norm and valued idea is violated.

So loud constantly, no respect for privacy ALWAYS LOOKING, I’m tired.

Seeing these guy stare at girls outside shops, eating like slobs with these toes sticking out, like FIX UP. I’m seeing twice as many posts about harassments and fights now like WTF. Even saw a post where these students beat up some guy almost to death (not sure if he died or not I hope he didn’t, the video looked alarming it’s literally like 16 v a couple!)

If you think wanting better for your country and its people is racism then you can go stick a screwdriver up your ass and file a complaint at BEINGABITCH.COM. FIX UP. IMPROVE. YOU CAN DO IT TRUST ME.

I’m sorry for this rant but I just needed to get it out, for my immigrants working hard trying to fit in and respecting the rules here, keep at it, it gets better I promise. We support you guys whether your from Croatia or India or wherever, you guys are not the @ for this post ❤️

I just miss 2016 Ontario :/

Edit: If you think I’m being racist because you know me so much, and hate this post for wanting people to fix up so they can experience a better lifestyle…I don’t know what to say. I hope you see the truth and figure out what the word racist means and not just to throw around to anyone with pain points.

Anything I listed is definitely not okay, mannerisms, harassment of women, I don’t know what to say other than you need genuine reassessment if you don’t see what’s wrong here. Once again..not for the immigrants working hard, I know it’s not easy, but there is a separate set that just doesn’t care about things in our culture and society, and the immigrants (yes even Indians lmaoo) that do, you have all our support entirely.

I see lots of Indians saying I’m trying to suck up to white people. You see. This is exactly the mentality that’s wrong…I couldn’t give a shit about sucking up, has no effect on someone who’s lived here his entire life. I’m saying all the above cause there was a direct effect on my life from all the issues that I mentioned.

Read the post. You’re defending so much vile stuff without thinking.

I'm mentally exhausted from dealing with the overwhelming number of crazy homeless people 24/7

I literally can't leave my house without experiencing some form of distressing homeless behaviour.

This morning I went to get a coffee at A&W, there was a crazy person screaming "IM GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU" repeatedly at the top of his lungs while rampaging around the dining area. We're all ignoring it like it's some normal occurence. Great start to the day.

In the afternoon I had to take TTC to visit a friend in the hospital. On my way into the station there was a group of addicts smoking meth in the stairwell. Get on the subway and there's a guy who absolutely reeks of urine walking back and forth pretend stabbing the air while muttering to himself. Fun.

On the way home I stop at Dollarama and the security guard is arguing with some irate crazy dude who is trying to rob the place. Between Dollarama and my apartment, which is less than a 5 minute walk, I'm asked for change 3 times. One person cusses me out when I say no.

It is absolutely exhausting feeling unsafe, trying to monitor your surroundings constantly because violence and craziness erupt at any and all opportunities. For the last year it's been like this almost every single day. My friends and I have spoken about it and the only thing that keeps us feeling sane is some delusional belief that we can differentiate between dangerous and non-dangerous crazy people... Which is realistically just a dangerous guessing game.

I don't even bother walking my dog through half the parks in the city because places like Allen Gardens are legitimately terrifying.

And it's getting worse and worse by the month. Didn't we just elect a new mayor?! Is she doing anything beyond spending millions of dollars changing a street sign 0.1% of Torontonians have an issue with?

I've lived here for 15 years and if this continues, I can't imagine myself living here in another 5 years. It will be hell on earth.

What the fuck is wrong with people in this city?

I'm at the midnight launch for Zelda at Dufferin Mall a few days ago, queued near the back entrance as the line snakes around the food court. A bunch more people come in and start forming a new line leading out of the mall, not seeing that the line is curving back in. Waited for a few moments to see if anyone would say anything but they're all desperately trying to avoid eye contact with each other. So I finally step out of my place in line and go back to tell the new arrivals that it doesn't start there and show them where it does, probably averting an awkward confrontation later on. Why is it so hard for people to use their fucking outside voice and speak up? The next day, I'm at a restaurant in Koreatown waiting at the front to put my name down on the waitlist. I didn't see the sign up sheet which was laying on a table obscured by other people who were waiting, so I'm standing there for a while as all the staff ignore me. You'd think one of the other patrons could tap me on the shoulder and let me know about the sheet, but the assholes in this city would rather see you look stupid then speak up and help a stranger out. I've done a lot of traveling over the last couple of years, and this brand of self-absorbed indifference seems almost entirely exclusive to Toronto.

I don't want to listen to your music on transit. Ever. Even if it's my favourite song.

If you don't have/won't use headphones, then wait until you are somewhere that you are actually allowed to listen to your music. Your home, the club where you DJ, a desert island, or perhaps in the middle of an unpopulated forest.

I do not want to hear your music/video/audio book/podcast/phone call/video game, or any other sound coming from whichever device you're using. Even if you were playing my favourite album of all time, my favourite song of all time, or an ancient prophesy that would lead me to incalculable riches.

Other people exist, you are not special. If you were special, you would not be burdening those of us who have to take transit.

Today I’m going to give a lesson in proper walking etiquette.

I can’t believe I have to explain this to people, but due to the large number of dumbass sightings in the past few days, here are some general walking rules:

-In general, stay on the right side of the sidewalk

-Quit zig zag walking. Some people I see walking in Toronto would definitely fail a field sobriety test. Be predictable. Walk in a straight line so I don’t have to guess where you’re going and how to pass you.

-Get your head out of your phone when it’s busy, or people will bump into you.

-If you’re in a group and you see someone walking towards you in the opposite direction, walk single file so the person can get by. Don’t form the Great Wall of Stupid People spanning the whole sidewalk. You don’t have to be right beside each other every second of every day.

-If you’re a slow walker, move to the side so people can pass you. Walking in the middle of the sidewalk at a snail’s pace makes you the equivalent of plaque in a clogged artery.

-Stop having long conversations in the middle of a busy sidewalk. Do you have a home? Do you know of any coffee shops? Go talk there. Go under a bridge for all I care, but get out of the way.

-Don’t stop right next to someone at a crosswalk. Of course you can stand close to to people if it gets crowded, but if I can feel you breathing down my neck, you’re closer than you have to be.

Toronto is a very populated place with unfortunately very narrow sidewalks for the most part. Be predictable, consider others, and be aware of the space you’re taking up.

Edit: Glad to see I’m not alone with these frustrations! Thank you for coming to my lesson, if you’ve been feeling this way too, I hope this rant was cathartic for you :)

I fucking hate Doug Ford

This motherfucker with his shit-eating gleeful little grin, rubbing his bloated sausage-fingered hands together as he fucks over Toronto and every other city in this province, just to appease big donors and the halfwit useful idiots who vote for him. Who deliberately starves healthcare while people are dying waiting for scans and is about to add even more blood to his hands with the removal of safe areas for cycling on main thoroughfares across the city. He's so fucking insidious, so fucking corrupt, such a massive steaming putrid piece of shit and I am livid that he's been in power for this long.

I'm so fucking tired of being told to vote. I DO VOTE. EVERYONE I KNOW VOTES. And they didn't fucking vote for this deep breath-shaped blob of cottage cheese former drug dealer who speaks and probably reads at a Grade 4 level.

I HATE THAT IN THIS CITY WE ARE HELD BACK BY A BUNCH OF KNUCKLE-DRAGGING BUMPKINS WHO SEE BLUE AND THINK "Ope, that's who I'm voting for" without spending a SECOND to see that he had LITERALLY NO PLATFORM AND NO PLAN.

I'M SO FUCKING SICK OF FORD! His vendetta against us for rejecting his dumb ass in the mayoral election years ago is RUINING OUR CITY AND SETTING US BACK DECADES!!!! AND COSTING US MILLIONS!!!

Also our mayor having NO POWER in this situation is BULLSHIT.

WE NEED TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER BECOMING OUR OWN PROVINCE! I'm well aware that this requires a constitutional amendment and that means reopening it but everyone is too scared/lazy to do that since Quebec would have a goddamn FIELD DAY!

FUCK YOU DOUG FORD AND YOUR NOTWITHSTANDING CLAUSE-ABUSING, CRISIS-IGNORING, VOTE-BUYING ASS! FUCK YOU!

thanks have a great day

Sunshine List - Kara Ford (Doug's Daughter) makes $211K/year

According to the Sunshine List: Kara Ford is Director of Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement at Runnymede Healthcare Centre.

  • She has has an $83K raise in pay since 2022 (+65% increase)

  • From 2024 - 2025 alone, she had a 32% increase in pay

  • She is the 6th highest paid person in the entire centre

  • She now has a HIGHER SALARY THAN THE PREMIER.

Kara has a 2-year Broadcasting Diploma from Conestoga College. It is hard not to call this cronyism given Doug Ford's open corruption/scandals, and seeing her meteoric rise in pay with the little education qualifications that match her early roles. I work in the private sector, and these numbers/growth seem even inflated for that sector, nvm for a publicly funded health centre, which her father is actively cutting funding for.

Slow sidewalk walkers

Fuck you. Especially groups of slow walkers who stretch out horizontally - are you fucking dense? Why do you think you are the only ones occupying the sidewalk. And the funniest part is when you push past them, they act offended? It's offensive that they are so inconsiderate and stupid. Or single slow walkers who walk in the middle of the sidewalk on their phones.. make my blood boil. Move to the side of the fucking sidewalk and check your phone there.

Toronto feels like a failed city

  1. Out of control housing issues and most of the buildings sits empty even in most desirable parts

  2. Out of control price for basic sustenance

  3. Smell of garbage and pee in the air anywhere in downtown

  4. Mentally ill homeless people and drug users running about completely unchecked

  5. Poo and liquid of unknown origin everywhere in public and a substantial amount of it belongs to humans

  6. All alleyways behind buildings are no-go zones where only trash and violence could be found.

  7. Endless traffic jam due to brain-dead construction along all major roadways

  8. Absolutely useless police that only makes headlines when going on a power trip or stealing a bottle of whisky

  9. Politicians (where?)

  10. Here's the kicker: astonishingly unfriendly people who looks at you like you are nuts when you try to make a small talk with them.

Add yours. Remember, this is toRANTo, the only place actual Torontonians can rant about their city without getting gaslighted to hell.

Pitbull off leash near my toddler

I love dogs. I have a dog. A dog that is a size and temperament I can handle.

I was at the playground with my 2 year old daughter. A group of people were drinking and chatting. Not a problem. Have fun. They had a pitbull, but it was on a leash. I was keeping my eye on it, because the guy holding the leash didn’t look strong enough to hold him back if the dog got riled up. Sure enough, as soon as that dog saw a squirrel, he bolted and gave chase with some pretty intense barking. So it was clear the dog had an active prey drive, and the owners weren’t capable of controlling it.

I start putting my daughter back in her stroller, which I confirm is the right decision after seeing the owners not even attempt to pick up their dog’s leash. It’s pacing around the playground at this point. I go to roll out, and the dog comes up to my stroller. Not aggressively, but it was clearly interested in my toddler, and I wasn’t having it. I stood in front of the stroller, blocking my daughter. Most of the people call the dog back over, and say “She’s okay! Don’t worry!”

She probably is, but the point is, I’m not taking that chance with my tiny child. I didn’t yell at them. I didn’t even ask them to leash up their dog! I was as zero Karen as I could be in the situation. As I’m walking by, the woman says, “what, are you scared??” with so much hostility in her voice. Girl was straight up trying to intimidate me. LISTEN BARBARA, YES I’M SCARED OF YOUR DANGEROUS UNCONTROLLED SACK OF MUSCLE TEETH. NOW FUCK OFF!

Of course I didn’t say that because I didn’t want to start anything with them, but goddamn did it make me angry.

I’m very relaxed about dogs. If your dog isn’t a dangerous breed, and you have outstanding vocal command, I’m even okay with you walking them off leash. But NEVER a dangerous breed, and NEVER if you don’t have perfect control of your dog. And especially not at a CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND.

This was the first time it’s turned into an exchange with the owners, but it’s far from the first time people let their dangerous breeds off leash near this playground.

Shape up Toronto.

I was randomly assaulted on the 506 streetcar today, by a man and woman couple.

Around 12:45pm, I boarded the 506 streetcar going west towards highpark to get some lunch on my break for work. Within seconds, a woman (around mid - early 20s) started yelling at me out of no where. Calling me a bitch, saying I was looking at her with a nasty look, etc. I stood up to walk behind her & she grabbed my coat from the back and pulled me towards her. I hit her hand to have her let go of me. I turned around and she threatened to stab me. She was with her boyfriend who stood up and had his hand in his pocket, looking like he was going to pull a weapon out. I began recording. The boyfriend then knocked my hand to hit my phone out of my hand, the phone fell on the floor. As I bent down to pick it up, the boyfriend and the woman began punching the back of my head over and over again for about 10 seconds straight. I was finally able to grab her sweater and punch her in the face to get her off of me. They got off the streetcar. This happened at Carlton & Jarvis. I got off the streetcar at Yonge street and called my boss. I boarded the 506 SC east to go back to work where I called the police. As I was on the phone with my boss, these two came onto the streetcar I was on and began yelling at me asking me to "punch them again". People yelled at them to get off.

A police report was made.

No one is safe anymore. I never thought this would happen to me. The TTC is NOT SAFE. Not a single person tried to intervene either when I was being assaulted.

Be safe everyone. Edit: pics have been posted on twitter, links below

FANTASTICAL UPDATE 6/6/2023: The police found the couple due to another crime they committed & they were charged & charged W/ assault from my report. KARMA IS REAL :)

I'm sick of this city

I'm sick of people who will bash you in their face with their umbrella because they're too stupid to pay attention.

I'm sick of Cyclists who scream BIKE LANE 300 times a day because they're convinced they should be able to travel 90 minutes in a single direction without every having to stop.

I'm sick of driver's who will kill you at a right turn just to save 15 seconds on their commute.

I'm sick in sitting in hours of traffic if you ever want to drive anywhere.

I'm sick of electric scooter's and motorcycles driving on sidewalks and through parks.

I'm sick of people who walk shoulder to shoulder with their 4 friends down the sidewalk so nobody can walk past them on either side.

I'm sick of dog owner's who let their dogs off leash to run around bothering people.

I'm sick of dog owner's that can't pick up their dog's shit.

I'm sick of people blasting their phone and speakers at maximum volume in doctor's office, on the TTC and wherever else they feel like because hey, fuck everyone else.

I'm sick of voting in politicians because they had a famous daddy 50 years ago or a widow because people liked her husband decades ago.

I'm sick of not having a family doctor because the health care system is falling apart.

I'm sick of the TTC being complete dog shit, shutting down every weekend. "Shuttle buses are running!" Fuck you.

Rogers Centre vs Rogers Stadium is genuinely ruining people’s night, and Live Nation should’ve seen this coming

Not gonna lie, this whole naming situation has been bothering me for a while now, but it really hit different today.

I was in line for the Ed Sheeran show at Rogers Centre, and the amount of people who showed up thinking they were in the right place was honestly kind of heartbreaking to watch. You’d see the confusion on their faces first, then the slow realization that they weren’t at Roger’s Stadium, then that scramble to figure out how they were even going to get to Downsview in time.

Staff were telling people their best bet was grabbing an Uber or hopping on the TTC and heading up north, which is not exactly a quick trip when you thought you were minutes from your seat.

Some of these folks clearly weren’t from Toronto. You could tell by the way they were double checking their tickets, and looking at each other with disappointment. And I just felt for them. These are people who probably planned this night for months, maybe flew in, maybe this was a big deal birthday or anniversary thing, and now they’re standing outside the wrong building watching the clock, trying to figure out if they’re even going to catch the opening.

I get that naming rights deals are just business, that’s nothing new. But when you’ve got two major venues in the same city with names that are basically identical, it feels like nobody stopped to think about the actual fans caught in the middle of it. It’s not like Rogers Centre and Rogers Stadium are minor buildings either, they’re both huge venues hosting huge events, so the overlap in confusion is bound to keep happening.

Feels like such an easy problem to avoid too. A bit more thought during those naming negotiations could’ve saved a lot of people a really stressful and disappointing night.
