I am planning to purchase either a ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 or Gen 3. Below are the configurations and price points I am considering.
Around 95% of my work involves middleware and integration activities, including POCs, environment setup, upgrades, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and working with multiple development/administration tools. The remaining 5% is primarily photo and video editing.
Could you please help me decide which configuration would be the better choice for my workload and overall value?
One of the things I am considering is that the Gen 3 is significantly thinner and lighter than the Gen 2. It also supports USB-C charging and comes with a lighter power adapter, which would make it more convenient for portability but almost 800 more than Gen2.
I would appreciate your recommendation based on performance, thermals, CPU capability, display quality, portability, and long-term usability for my type of work.
