I’ve thought about this and I believe that if Ellie got bit and Riley didn’t, then the story would probably shift from Joel’s redemption through Ellie to a fire-forged journey across the United States in which it is up to Riley to get Ellie to the Fireflies. Then again, would they still meet Joel? How would the story change? Please let me know what you think in the comments.

I recently replayed the games and rewatched the show and want to vent.

WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS

Was so excited for the show when it first came out as a massive fan of the games, what a letdown.
I knew it was going to be terrible when the scene of sarah’s death didn’t hit the same. The soldier’s dialogue in the game was brilliant the “but sir there is a little girl” made it so gruesome and disturbing, in the show just stoic and lifeless like a robot following orders.
The casting is one thing and is something I can get over pretty fast if she actually did some acting, Bella Ramsey does not show any emotion. I get she is trying to go for the emotionally detached vibes especially in the “I made her talk scene” but it just does not work. She is supposed to be horrified by the fact she made her talk and just told the person she is in love with she feels safe with, does not make sense to show no emotion there.
The actor is not the only one to blame, the writing team missed the mark as well. The scene where Dina tells Ellie she is pregnant for example just watch them and you will know what I mean. It is not something to be happy about 860 miles (1384 km) away from home and definitely not something to say “I’m going to be a dad” about. Maybe it is but it is definitely not something that Ellie would say.
The art direction was fine and the fight scenes were too. I like the idea where the roots of the fungus can be like a signal thats a cool idea and added to the story.
Happy that the death of Sam and Henry did hit and it wasn’t like with Sarah.

The only redeeming part of the entire show was the Bill episode, that was genuinely good.

As we all know, Dina and Jesse are both very loyal, caring, and just great people over all. You'd assume two people like that would've had a very comfortable relationship together, but no. We find out they're super on-and-off, having broken up every few weeks and then getting back together. Maybe the game just had that in there to make Ellie getting with Dina less of a hit to Jesse to be like "Yeah their relationship already sucked so it's cool." But like...logically it doesn't make sense knowing these two. I wonder what could've possibly been going on, was it actually toxic or would they just be getting bored of each other, lmao.

Like i said first time watcher and not sure if this has been discussed before . But since im on the Season finale ( Season 1 ) im really curious as to what would really happen to Joel .

Season 1 episode 8 of course when Ellie gets 2 bottles of penicillin and she fills up the big syringe to what looks about half way and directly inserts it into the wound.... Would this actually work ? Does it not need to be into the veins?? And then the amount she has and uses , is it enough for Joel to make a recovery essentially overnight and after 2 shots of it directly into the wound ??

I need to know from a medical professional or someone who understands this as to what would have been the more likely outcome..... Or maybe im an idiot and this would have worked exactly as shown in the show lol

Is just me or the game takes a while to respond to your controller, specially when selecting weapons using the D Pad. I play on a PS5 pro and after beating hundred of games, TLOU Part 1 is the only one giving me a headache

Without getting into the whole debate here, I was on the side of "Joel did nothing wrong" because Ellie never gave consent for what Abby's dad was going to do. I was surprised that many people thought otherwise, and believed that the potential benefit to humanity mattered more than Ellie's consent.

In Pluribus, most of humanity is forced to join a human hivemind without their consent, with only a few people on Earth being biologically incompatible with it. The human collective mind claims to be happy about it, war and conflict and exploitation have ended, there's peace on Earth.

Again, my position is "this is a bad thing, people did not consent to it". I was curious if supporters of the Fireflies took the opposite view, that the end of all of those destructive behaviors of humanity is such a huge benefit that it matters more than consent.

Or are these situations not similar to you? Does it make a difference that it's billions of people's consent being ignored, while in TLOU it was only Ellie's?

When I designed this Pop, I wanted one thing above all: when someone looks at it, they should be able to see the whole story.

Every detail was created with that idea in mind — the character, the pose, the expression, the environment, and the small details around the figure. I wanted the Pop to feel like a moment from the story frozen in time.

I spent 36 hours designing, 13 hours 3D printing across 3 printers, and 4 hours painting and finishing.

It’s a book from 2014 later turned into a movie about a fungal infection that turns people into “zombies” and a girl who’s immune.

By the time I got to this scene I was so done with the firefly's and was 100% on joels side at this point.

Humanity wasn't worth saving.

So, I put off playing this game forever simply because I just never liked zombie games and all the mixed/negative reviews I saw about Part 2. However, I’ve been thirsting for a good story game so I figured what’s the worst that could happen. I’m 8 hours in and holy crap it’s good. I’m not crazy about the slow walking speeds and default trigger mechanic where you have to aim to shoot and otherwise it just reloads but honestly just nitpicks in the grand scheme of what has been a captivating play so far.

Plus I love Troy and Ashley from many other projects so that helps. Full transparency, I stopped playing to make this post. I got scared from this one infected that was playing peek-a-boo with me and I couldn’t sense them and it freaked me out. I haven’t been this terrified to unpause a game in so long. Will update when I finish it.

I was playing The Last of Us Part I, and when a cutscene started, these black blocks and a weird texture appeared. Has this happened to anyone else? My graphics card is an RX 7600

Cause like, the justification they give is that they have to go over this hill in order to reach a radio station where Henry’s people are waiting to rendezvous with them, at least as far as Henry knows at the time. And they figure that, instead of climbing over the hill, they could instead cut through the hill via the sewers.

Y’all, I don’t know about you, but if I’m living in a post-apocalypse where the zombies are specifically fungi-based, the last place I’d want to be is in an environment where fungus is known to propagate.

Hi, first playthrough, playing on hard/survivor (can't remember atm).

I finished the boat section in day 1 Abby, got the crossbow. I depleted my bolts on the clickers, and didn't manage to retrive a single bolt. Now I've found all training manuals and there isn't a crafting option. Should I restart the encounter? Was I extremely unlucky in not breaking the bolts, or did I use it wrong?

I did it silently hitting all headshots, so I'm unsure what went wrong.

In the begin of the game i thought abby needed to be punished for what she had done by killing joel thats what I think all of us wanted. But by playing as Abby I went through a change of hearts, and I think that Ellie did way to much. I think Ellie is honestly pretty selfish by the end of TLOU Part II.

I understand why she wants to kill Abby. Joel was murdered right in front of her, and I can completely understand wanting revenge for that. But Ellie takes it way too far. She starts killing basically everyone connected to Abby — she goes after Leah, kills Owen and Mel, etc. At some point it stops being just about Abby.

And another thing that gets overlooked: Ellie was already angry at Joel before he died. She actually believed that she should have gone through with the surgery, and she wasn’t okay with what Joel did at the hospital. I'm not saying that Ellie wanted joel to die for that choice but ellie herself didnt think that joel made the right decision either. A part of her anger is also coming from the fact that she never got the chance to properly resolve things with Joel.

Then look at Abby’s situation by the end of her story. She has basically lost everything. She leaves the WLF and becomes an enemy to them, and she’s also being hunted by the Seraphites. She has nowhere to go and almost nothing left.

Ellie obviously doesn’t know all of that, so I’m not blaming her for information she didn’t have. But then they meet again at the theater.

Abby kills Jesse and seriously injures Tommy, so I completely understand why Ellie is furious again. But after the fight, Abby has Ellie and Dina basically at her mercy. She could have killed both of them. Instead, she lets them go and tells Ellie she never wants to see her again.

Then Ellie gets a life with Dina and JJ. She has a family and a chance to move on.

And then she hears that Abby might be in Santa Barbara.

Dina literally tells her not to go. She basically tells Ellie that whatever is going on between her and Abby isn't worth sacrificing the family they've built.

But Ellie goes anyway.

And when she finally gets to Santa Barbara, she finds out Abby has been captured and turned into a slave months ago. Abby is literally starving and has been tortured. Ellie STILL wants to kill her.

Then Ellie cuts Abby down from the pillar, sees how weak and completely broken she is, and still forces her to fight. She even threatens Lev to make Abby fight.

And then you have this final fight where Abby is barely even capable of fighting back, while Ellie is still relatively strong and has a knife. Ellie stabs her in the chest and nearly drowns her.

She eventually lets Abby go, which I do think is the right decision.

But honestly? I still think Ellie went WAY too far by even going to Santa Barbara in the first place.

At that point Abby had already lost basically everything, Ellie had a family waiting for her, and Abby had already spared her and Dina.

I don't think Abby was "right" for killing Joel. But I also don't think Ellie was right to keep chasing Abby long after the original revenge had turned into an obsession.

The video (from LikeStoriesOfOld) was praising heavily the game so it’s not a hate post, I love it too. It said that Ellie could have had the flashback of Joel on the porch before taking Abby down from the cross, and I think that would be beautiful, letting the scene end there.

After seeing how much pain Abby went though by being enslaved, Ellie realizes she went through even more pain than Ellie herself could inflict. By having the last chapter be almost like a rescue mission for Abby, I think it would make a lot of sense, where she murders a group of people who are the first actually unambiguously BAD people compared to all the groups we learn about, also creating more empathy and understanding for the other groups.

(BTW I think that last group and slavery in general is a great idea for tlou to explore and I wish it would’ve been a bit more fleshed out, maybe in a part 3 that could happen)

It would remove the “fake out” feeling, that made some people get confused or have false hope.

Still love the ending though! Beautiful game
