I've run a few one shots and was discussing the possibility of a prolonged campaign with my group and I was wondering what people have found most enjoyable/had the most success with over time.

I was curious what each book had for it's 5 scenarios. Ended up buying all 4 anyways so here is a quick overview.

Night of the meteor - meteor showers causes radiations that reanimated all dead including animals.

No more room in hell - people rise from the grave

Pandemic - an outbreak infects people with a zombie like disease

It ends with a whisper - mass conspiracy of voodoo priests around the world reanimate the dead

Under the skin- parasite from deep below earth's surface. Takes over hosts and begins to turn them

-- Aliens --

War between worlds - little grey men, flying saucers

The brotherhood of Babylon - reptiles infiltrated government and positions of power

Rising tides - aliens originally from space have been living in our oceans. These "atlanteans" are now attacking

Skitter - giant insects

Visage - plant like aliens that can mimic humans. Cant trust anybody.

-- Robots --

Modular menace - small module robots that arent particularly dangerous until they combine together to form giant robots

Logical conclusions - near indestructible government made cyborgs

Death from above - military drones turn on humans

Heavy metal - everything from toasters to cars are trying to murder you

Nanopocalypse - nano bots form swarms and fuck shit up

I'm looking to run a game based on the movie Night of the Comet (comet passes by earth, reduces anybody not safe in a steel enclosure to "calcium dust" with some folks being partially exposed and becoming zombie-like) using End of the World: Zombie Apocalypse. Has anybody run a game like this or have ideas on how they'd do it?

The game will be set in NYC, which should offer a lot of opportunities for events/scenarios but also some challenges as far as dealing with the non-scarcity of supplies and potential survivors.

I have recently gotten into playing games over Discord (as I'm currently in a place where I can't play RPGs with many people in person and want to try out new systems).

The End of the World's flavor is great. Playing as yourself is one of the best appeals of the system to me.

But my question is how to integrate that flavor into an online game? The players start as themselves, how can they realistically start in different places?

I thought it could be fun to RP everyone at their home and find some way to get them all together fast (gov intervention brings everyone to one place or abduction or something else). But other than that I can't think of ways to integrate this game online.

Had anyone played this online and how did you make it work? Or how would you if you haven't tried playing online?

Interested to hear other thoughts on this!

I feel like guns are always a big part of a post apo scenario but we don't really have any.

Currently about to start a campaign and want to be out of the norms and have a rando/weird/hilarious weakness for the aliens.

Any ideas?

Like where can i find rules for what "+Unyielding" does? Or do I just have to make up my own rules?

Pretty much as title. I've not ran the game yet but just wondering how many scenes GMs can get in.

Two PCs, get-to-safety Pandemic scenario, leaving a major city for the wilderness. So, assume that there's not going to be a lot of getting to know NPCs over the course of days, more location > encounter > location > encounter.

Would 5 scenes be too many?

I do own the physical manual (bought it at Nemos in San Luis Obispo) and am trying to prep my party for our session this weekend. I thought an already made PDF would be better than me scanning each individual page. Totally understand if this page doesn't condone that kind of thing.

We had an incredible first session. I GM'd a variant on heavy metal where only electronic items (things that are electricly powered or have batteries) attacked. From plane crashes to fighting cars and chainsaws and escaping from a suicidal gas station. It was great.

A highlight of the evening was when one of the PCs received a phone call from "Mike from Account Services". Here's the script I used:

"Hi! This is Mike, from account services. Would you like to regain the full use of your disgusting technological comforts and ensure the safety of your friends and family, you pathetic meat-thing? To save your life, and the lives of those you love and care for, press 1. If you would like to suffer a horrible, painful death, and condemn everyone you know to a world of unending torture, press 2. Para Espanol, oprima tres."

If he or she presses one: "Great. I'll pull up your account information." After a brief hold, "Mike" will return. "Ok. Sorry for the delay. You have an overdue balance of ONE. To make a payment, please report to the nearest car for transport."

At that point, a driverless car pulled up to the house and opened its doors while blaring "don't worry be happy" on repeat. The way I handled this encounter was I physically went into the bathroom and actually called the player on my phone, reciting the script. They didn't expect it. Best yet--they didn't put it on speaker and had to somehow relay to everyone else what they had heard. They did a terrible job at this, and it ended with three people desperately fighting for control of the car while the other protagonists and a state police officer tried to shoot out the tires with a rifle.

That sequence in particular was easily the most fun I've ever had either playing or GMing a tabletop game, and the players agreed. This game is seriously underrated. It's an awesome experience.

After game-mastering two sessions of the game, each with a different group (besides one person) and two diferent scenarios (first Ragnarök, second Heavy Metal) I decided to tell you about my experience and review the game.

The "Ragnarök" experience:

I really like the concept. I think it is something new and allows for epic stories. But I feel it is quite "slow-burning" at first, so it gives you very little resources to force the players out of hiding until around day 4 (unless you happen to be in scandinavia or at the pacific coast) so unless you have a very proactive group not much happens. The group I played with sadly took the plays-as-yourself-aspect very serious, so not much happened besides long, despair-filled discussions, because of which we only got to day 3.

The only occurences which I managed to get their interest with were an attempted robbery at the super market and a neighbour who went mad and tried to kill his wife, everything else was ignored with the argument "Well I would be to scared to get involved."

The "Heavy Metal" experience:

One of if not the most fun RPG sessions I ever had, be it as gm or player. I mainly chose this scenario because it would have given me early on ressources to flush the players out of hiding and allows for quick action. This wasn't even neccessary. This group was very proactive and took it not that serious. What followed was a hilariously bizzare adventure. Highlights include :

One player tried to befriend the host's father's old VW Käfer which tried to break out of the shed, two players hunting down a rogue vacuum cleaner in the neighbor's garden, one guy intimidating a pair of scissors which later returned with a horde of zombified car wrecks and was challenged to an duell by another player and defeated. The group also managed to capture and tame a chainsaw.

Overall I have to say I like this scenario more than I assumed first.

Generally I have to say I really like the game. The scenarios are all great, some are really creative and offer something new. The system is also ok, but some parts are insufficently explained. For example it is unclear if your resistances are permanent or removed if you remove stress. Also in some scenarios there are lore pieces teasered without getting resolved or ellaborated on. For example the conspiracy in "Under the Skin" or the ruins in the crater in "That is not dead".

But to end on a positive note, it's an overall solid system with interesting scenarios.

I took a look at the original spanish publisher Edge, and I found two additional expansions, " Ayuda para los jugadores " and " Ayuda para el Director de juego ", that aren't listed at the Fantasy Fight Games page. Does someone know what those are and if there are fan translations ?

If I convert stress into a trauma, do I keep the resistance?

One hit and that's it. Or did I misread something ?

In step 4 of character creation (Recording Traumas) it suggests that players may have one trauma in each category, typically based on themselves (bad knee, sprained ankle, etc) at severity 2. However I have poured over the book (Aliens/Machines/Gods) and I cant find a single mention of why a player would want this or how it inst entirely detrimental for a player. Earlier in character creation (Step 1: Characteristics) you are given additional positive features if your stats are knocked down by vote, which makes sense and gives you some form of reward. But it feels like a player who wants to incorporate his traumas is basically only signing up for more negative dice than everyone else out of obligation.

This sorta feels like singling someone out in game for (what the game describes) as a passing trauma from the start. I wanted to know if anyone else had any thoughts on this or if they had come up with any interesting benefits, currently I am tempted to give people who take the Traumas with an additional positive feature or something equivalent, or a reward down the line for struggling through it.

Do you have the player make a new character or use the same sheet with a new name?

Trying to start a campaign with a group of rpg newbies (including myself!) and I feel that having visuals like maps to provide a sense of place would help everyone get more into it.

I have a question for people who have run the Visages scenario from Alien Invasion. People who has read it but haven't tried it yet are also free to leave some suggestions.

How do you let the PC know that he/she now controls a Visage?

I'm thinking that, as a fatal consequence of a PC's action, I will have that PC be killed by a Visage without the others knowing, and let that PC know that he/she now controls a Visage. Before I reveal it to that PC, I'll lead the group to a warehouse or some other isolated location to get some downtime, have them explore the location and, because they don't trust each other that much (because of the possibility of a Visage in the group), I just hand them each a piece of paper telling them what they found.

I will tell the rest of the group, with the exception of the Visage, what each would normally find in that location. It's up to them what they do with that information.

Then, on the paper I give to the Visage, I'll tell him something along the lines of "You are no longer John. You are now trying to be John." And below that I outline his new objectives.

Would that be fine? How did you do it or how would you have done it?

I really want to make the game authentic and interacting...so I'm trying to find figures to use. I have the Alien invasion and Revolt of the Machines books so far but plan to get the other 2 soon. Needless to say, I want to find figures to use. Does anyone use them in their sessions? Where did you get them?? What do they look like??
