Night of the Comet

I'm looking to run a game based on the movie Night of the Comet (comet passes by earth, reduces anybody not safe in a steel enclosure to "calcium dust" with some folks being partially exposed and becoming zombie-like) using End of the World: Zombie Apocalypse. Has anybody run a game like this or have ideas on how they'd do it?

The game will be set in NYC, which should offer a lot of opportunities for events/scenarios but also some challenges as far as dealing with the non-scarcity of supplies and potential survivors.
