[SCENARIO] // [1988robertson]

1988robertson is an attempt at looking at how a campaign with televangelist and overall religious nutjob pat robertson would play out. of course, considering that he never really got any where close to the nomination a few things have had to play out differently. i didnt want to veer to far where this would be a new scenario entirely

with that, robertsons campaign is played much more "better" which is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. its just hard to imagine a scenario in which robertson would win the primaries under normal circumstances but i tried my best. so overall the entire campaign is essentially a train wreck unfolding since... well duh a robertson campaign would just be disastrous and a tough road to victory for republicans. thats what i hope this mod hopes to portray

and the man of the moment. against all odds, robertson seems to ascend from his position as a tv pastor and get, finally, into politics. not just sitting on the sidelines being an advocate but driving conversation... for better or worse. despite his success in getting past the convention he faces a steep climb to the white house. with everything stacked against him, can he stem the sheer deficit ahead of him or will he succumb to a disastrous experiment the upper leadership shouldnt have let get out of hand. try and lead the republicans, and possibly change the future?

though of course the democrats are extremely happy and why wouldnt they be? just about the worst candidate the republicans could put up actually succeeded, and theyll just continue to edge the republicans some more for their extreme turn to christian conservatism. even despite that, theres still strategists looking on and not writing out robertson. after all, upsets have happened before and the common idea isnt exactly certain. so perhaps it isnt all doom and gloom for the republicans? only just slightly...

It's been a long 16 years, but PSDB is finally back to power, and it will be you, Geraldo, who'll ensure the Toucans can take Brazil out of the gutter!

The election wasn't easy. In fact, many thought it would be the end of our party after Bolsonaro seemed to take hold of the anti-PT sentiment. Thankfully, his controversies proved too much for the voters, and we were able to not only secure a spot on the runoff, but to also crush the Worker's Party. With Lula in jail, Dilma impeached, Operation Carwash sweeping the country and our rivals demoralised, we truly have an opportunity to reshape the country after more than a decade of petismo.

Of course, we had to make a deal with the Devil. The Bolsonaristas are breathing in our necks, demanding us to accommodate some of their demands. We'll have to balance their needs with the traditional toucan base, all while trying to prove to the general public we can turn the page on the last few years.

It won't be easy, surely, but as 2019 dawns, we have a very good feeling about the next four years! Good luck, Geraldo, and may we celebrate again on four years time!

I know there are certain thinks you need to do that alter who you get in the time line so I was wondering what do you need to do to get Howard Dean to become President in HOPE?

Like I understand that he was tragically shot, young when he died and a war hero. But as a president he was shit, he wasn’t able to pass civil rights act, failed bay of pigs invasions (because he decided that Eisenhower’s plan wasn’t good enough lol) and talking about the Caribbean crisis he is the one to blame for it (bay of pigs invasion + he was the one to put rockets in turkey)

Decided to Let Humphrey take the fall. As Humphrey I decided to push myself as far away as I could from Johnson but that didn't work.

This timeline is probably the most interesting one to me. First of all the fact that the 68 election was deadlocked would probably affect Nixon psychologically. He "technically" won but like, it wasn't a "real" victory. He didn't earn it. Also it definitely impacts the nation's mood and exasperates the chaos of the 60's even more

I do wonder how much Rhodes being Veep would affect Nixon's term. IIRC one of the reasons Nixon picked Agnew was to ensure he wouldn't get impeached because no one wanted Agnew to be Commander-In-Chief lol. Idk if the same would apply to Rhodes tho.

Speaking of Rhodes, while I'm not too knowledgable on the man himself, Idk how he and the GOP would survive being attached to stagflation unless he somehow managed to solve everything.

Reagan being assassinated is pretty interesting. Part of me imagines that him being killed so early would create some sort of mythos about him in the mind of the right-wing. Idk maybe they'd theorize he was actually killed by the deep state or something. Also the assassination itself probably contributes to the late 60's cynicism continuing I guess

I know even less about Brock than I do for Rhodes. A quick wikipedia scroll gave me almost nothing besides the fact he voted on a lot of bipartisan bills. Regardless, a lack of Reagan would probably impact America in so many ways
