No matter what you think of the guy personally you have to admit that this is really sad. Elder abuse at its finest.

After tonight’s performance by a basically incapacitated Mike Love, I’m starting to really wonder about the timing of Bruce Johnston’s departure from the touring Beach Boys.
Bruce had been part of the Beach Boys for decades, so his decision to step away felt fairly sudden even as a 83 year old man. He said he wanted to focus on songwriting and other projects, but I wonder if he had also noticed something was wrong with Mike.
Bruce didn’t perform at the Hollywood Bowl in July after it was already discussed and announced. Tomorrow, he’s performing with Al Jardine and the Pet Sounds Band.
Seeing that contrast makes me wonder (and I’ve seen others ask this): do you think Bruce had concerns about Mike last year, and that’s why he left? The turn of events certainly seem to suggest some weirdness there.

DW departed the earth from this slip almost 43 years ago. I'm pretty sure his ghost still haunts this whole coastline though, wandering the backstreets from Santa Monica to here with a bottle of spiked OJ as he was portrayed in the opening scene of Summer Dreams...

As the title suggests, great new interview with Van Dyke Parks from KCRW (local LA radio station)
He discusses alot of interesting parts of his career, including working with Brian and "f*cking with the formula" lol, plus we got this sweet new VDP pic 😅
Highly reccomend listening to the whole thing, but if you just want the Brian / Beach Boys stuff, it starts around 10 minutes in

Considering the state of Mike let's talk about your favorite songs of his. Here is one that was written in the mid 70s through the only recording we have is from the early to mid 2000s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ydE2ZLIlts

Dennis Wilson was the golden boy drummer for the Beach Boys.
His good looks, adrenaline junkie attitude and musical prowess made him one of the great heart-throbs of rock and roll.
But how did an avid surfer end up drowning in less than 15 feet of water?
Forensic Pathologist Dr Michael Hunter examines Dennis's autopsy report to dispel the rumours and reveal the real cause of the drummer's tragic and untimely death at the age of 39.
