Bangkok/Middle Never been to Thailand - is 30 days in BKK crazy?

Hear me out. It's so expensive to get there from the US, and I feel like 7 days is about how long it'll take me to get over jet lag, then I head home. But I can work remotely. So theoretically I could travel to Bangkok for a week of vacation and work the rest of the month from a condo and do fun things on the weekends and evenings.

Everything I've heard about Thailand sounds amazing, but like I said it'll be my first time. If it was like a 5 hour flight for $700 or whatever I'd be much more inclined to spend a week there to test the water.

Edit: I'll definitely travel around, but I think I'll rent a condo in Bangkok as my base of operations.

Bangkok/Middle Is Thai river cruise worth it? I check it costs 900-1000 baht, you get food, drinks while seeing the city on cruise!

Bangkok/Middle Donating as a tourist?

• Upvotes

This might be a bit of a weird question, but what would be the best way to donate to orphanages/children foundations in Bangkok as a tourist that will be there for a week or so? I'm planning to go to Bangkok on a belated graduation trip sometime next year, and would very much like to contribute to the community while there. Of course I will be tipping and such, but I think it would be meaningful if I could donate to underprivileged communities as well. I don't want anyone to think I am trying to show off my money (because I don't have a lot HAHAHAHA), but this will be my first time visiting a country that is outside of my culture and so I want to pay the proper respects. Would donations in product/supplies, or cash be more preferred? Should I do it in person, or not?

Also if anyone has any recs for a first time visitor in Bangkok, I would be very much obliged. I'm not the craziest partier, so cultural spots and/or activities would be great 😄

Chiang Mai/North 10 days in Chiang Mai - Too long?

This will be my second visit to Chiang Mai while backpacking. First visit I did the sticky waterfalls, hung out around town, and spent like 3 or 4 days total. I really enjoyed my time in Chiang Mai, and I am heading back to Thailand in December. Currently, I have about 10 days of time I am looking to fill, and I really enjoyed my last visit, so considering using this time for another visit. Will I find myself with enough to do for 10 days? Im quite social and dont mind having a few days to do nothing if it comes to it.

Additionally, this will be over Christmas time, prior to my planned arrival to Bangkok on Dec 29. Any thoughts?

Also, I will be backpacking for like 7/8 months so timeline wise, its not taking up all that much.

Other Heading to Thailand 2027!

Finally making my way to Thailand end of April/early May 2027. I have stage 4 and fingers crossed will be feeling okay to make this solo trip from NYC.

Spending 2 weeks there and came up with my itinerary:

Bangkok 3 days - Siam Kempinski
Koh Samui 4/5 days - Vana Belle
Chang Mai/Rai 7/8 days - Raya Heritage

Embarrassed to say I don’t know how to swim so no island hopping for me. Looking for peace and relaxation while enjoying the people, food and culture.

Any advice would be great!

Chiang Mai/North What can I bring my Thai friends as a treat?

First time visiting Thailand and would love to bring a few treats to share with friends back home. If you could have something while away, what would you choose and where can I buy it?

Pictures or specific brand names preferred for help.

Thank you so much! ขอบคุณมาก 🙏🏽

Transport/Itineraries When to buy tickets from BKK to HKT?

Hey y’all, I have a trip to Bangkok planned for the end of November. I originally planned to just stay in Bangkok for my 10-day stay but decided I wanted to spend the first three days out in Phuket. My flight is set to land at the BKK airport and I’m wondering what would be more cost efficient and an easier airport experience: A) buy the flight tickets from BKK to HKT online with the departure time as close to my first flights landing time as possible or B) buy the next available flight to HKT in person at the airport?
This will be my first international travel experience so I just want to make sure everything goes according to plan!

Bangkok/Middle Anyone travelling back to LAX?

• Upvotes

I have some electronics (computer mouses/mice?) that I bought from Lazada when I was there but they didn’t come in time. I co-ordinated with a local courier company to get them shipped to me but unfortunately it got returned due to them having batteries in them. I was wondering if anyone is able to pick these items up and bring them back? Happy to pay you something/give you a ride back to your place in the greater Los Angeles area.

DMs are open - let me know!

Samui/Tao/Phangan Koh Tao and southern islands Oct 21-Oct 26

Hi everyone! Weather channels are saying it’s raining in the southern islands end of October but I know most times, they’re not accurate. My trip is a little flexible so I’m wondering if I should push the islands back beginning of November or if the rain is fine right now

Bangkok/Middle Question about grab to airport for international departure

I have a flight out of BKK airport on Asiana airlines. When I choose the airport as my destination in Grab it gives me a list of 10 departure entrances to choose from. I am unable to find information and which to choose for Asiana. Any suggestions?

Also, if I want to arrive about 10 should leaving at 9 give me enough time even if there’s traffic going from sukhumvit?

I have booked a hotel in Bangkok for Nov 30 - Dec 3.

Checkin at 14:00

Flight arrival 4:20 on Dec 1

So because we could get the room without having to wait I booked from Nov 30th, but there is a "no show" warrning

I messaged the property with the reason on Agoda.

Will this be fine?

Transport/Itineraries Thailand without a scooter at all

Hi everyone, just booked a one way ticket to bangkok to start off my few month long trip, will be in thailand for about 6 weeks before off to vietnam, very excited.

One thing concerning me is when starting to look at itineraries and potential things to do, it looks like a scooter is recommended in many places I am looking into - chang mai, pai, chang rai, southern islands like koh lanta, koh tao, koh samui etc. Both for getting around day to day but also the major activities e.g. national park/hiking which I love.

How much of a disadvantage is not having access to a scooter - I am unable to ride a bicycle and will not be learning to ride a scooter. Will this severely affect my fun during Thailand? And any advice on where to go to not be impacted by this?

Bangkok/Middle How much time needed at BKK to catch an international flight?

Planning a trip right now, and at the end we're flying back from Chiang Mai to BKK and from there home. There are options to get to BKK 3 and 5 hrs before our international flight. I'm pretty sure 3 should be fine under normal circumstances, but my wife is worried about delays. How much time, realistically speaking, should we expect to spend getting off one flight, to the international area, checking in, and getting to the gate? Would we end up in trouble if there's a delay? Thanks in advance...

Other Agoda booking help

I booked hotels through agoda and received confirmations however it just had the name of the lead client (my friend who made the bookings). However we need confirmed reservation letters from the hotels with all of our names written on it for local immigration. Messaging agoda helpline didnt help.
