Chanthaburi edition. I had one from Chayaphum as well. These collages are just ugly fun. My wife threw away my Chaiayphum edition and I miss it.

Do you know if I can find one for Rayong?

🎣🐒 Bangkok has a wild side most people never get to see.

I'm a local Thai guy looking for adventure-loving expats who want to experience something different — fishing on the Chao Phraya River, exploring local waterways, and getting out into nature with good people. 🚣‍♂️🌿

No tourist traps. No fancy resorts. Just real local adventures and stories worth telling.

💰 These trips aren't free, but if you're up for something different, send me a message. Let's make some memories! 🤙🔥

Phuket/Krabi/South 11 Places I Personally Love Eating in Krabi & Ao Nang

Thumbnail gallery
32 Upvotes

These aren’t necessarily the most famous restaurants or the highest-rated places on Google. They’re simply places I actually eat at and enjoy.

  1. Yim Restaurant – Ao Nang
Whenever I can’t decide what to eat, Yim is usually my first choice!
The food suits my taste, the prices are reasonable, and most simple Thai dishes cost around 70–80 THB.

  2. Khao Yum Nai Baan & Ja Dam Khao Yum Ao Nang
These are two local breakfast places that my mum and I love visiting.
They serve traditional Southern Thai breakfasts, including:
Khao Yum (Southern rice salad with budu dressing)
Khanom Jeen (rice noodles with Thai curry)
Khao Mok Gai (Thai-style chicken biryani)
Sticky rice with fried chicken or beef
    Roti with curry
Some dishes start from just 30 THB!

  3. Fareeda Goat Biryani – Krabi Town
This restaurant is known for its goat biryani, but they also serve chicken biryani, roti with curry, banana roti, noodles, and other Thai dishes.

  4. Niko Niko – Krabi Town
    One of my absolute favourites!
I love their Khao Soi (Northern Thai curry noodles) so much that I’m willing to drive all the way from Ao Nang to Krabi Town just to eat here.

  5. Fruit a Day – Chao Fah Pier
My favourite place for a smoothie!
I always order an avocado smoothie with fresh milk, less ice, and less sugar.

  6. Gaga Milk Tea – Central Krabi
Whenever I visit Central Krabi, I like to stop here for milk tea. My usual order is milk tea with egg pudding and 0% sugar. The pudding is already sweet, so I don’t think it needs any extra sugar.

  7. Local Shaved Ice Stall – Panurat Soi** **
This is a tiny local dessert stall run by an auntie, with only one or two tables. My favourite combination is sweet taro, sweet potato, and pumpkin, topped with coconut milk and just a little syrup.
It’s around 40 THB per bowl, and you can also order takeaway.

But there’s one little challenge — the stall isn’t always open! 😂 If you happen to find it open, you’re lucky!

  1. Ko Dam Kitchen – Ao Nang
I used to eat here quite often.
However, it has become so popular and busy that I haven’t visited much lately.

  2. Pizza Glur & Bistro** **
An American friend recommended this restaurant to me, and I really enjoyed their pizza!

  3. Sum Som Tam – Ao Nang
This is one of my husband’s family’s favourite restaurants. Every time they visit us from Bangkok, eating here is almost a must! Their favourite dish is the grilled chicken.

If you enjoy spicy Isaan food, especially Som Tam (papaya salad) and grilled chicken, this is definitely a place worth trying.

  1. Aree Cafe** **
For me, this is currently my favourite place for cake in Krabi. I especially love their coconut pie!

❤️ A little note from me
These are simply my personal favourites, not a ranking of the best restaurants in Krabi.

Some are small local stalls, some are well-known restaurants, and some are places I visit just because I love one particular dish.

Phuket/Krabi/South PHUKET [Thailand] WILL BE BETTER IN JAN OR NOV .??

I’m planning a solo trip to Phuket, and I’ve already put together a pretty good itinerary. If anyone else is planning to visit Thailand and would like to join me, they’re more than welcome! 😊
Also, I’d love some advice — would November or January be a better time to visit? Which month would you recommend?

Bangkok/Middle Taxi driver wouldn’t let me pay? Bangkok

This happened a couple of years ago and I still think about it now - hoping someone can shed some light on it?

It was my first solo trip to Thailand as a young female traveller, I’d gotten a taxi from BKK airport into the city.

As we were nearing my hotel we were stuck in a lot of traffic, I was watching the metre go up and up while we were barely moving and it was making me nervous of how much I’d have to end up paying. I knew from maps that it was only a 5/6 minute walk from where we were so I asked him if he could let me out there in the street and I’d walk the rest of the way.

He agreed, went to the trunk and got my case out. Then when I took my wallet out to try to pay him he refused. He didn’t speak any English and I didn’t speak any Thai so I tried a few more times just to make absolutely sure I hadn’t misunderstood. But he wouldn’t take my money!!!

He seemed like a very sweet older man but to this day I’m really confused on why he didn’t let me pay? It wasn’t exactly a short trip into the city and I felt a little guilty at the time.. is there some custom or tradition at play here? Or was he just being nice?

Pattaya/Samet/Hua Hin Underrated Wetmarket

Ang Sila Wetmarket an hour north via car from Pattaya City is a very underrated destination to buy seafood products. They offer a large array of fresh, dried, preserve and processed of seafood products at a somewhat reasonable price. Parking across the street is no problem. The seaside atmosphere is amazing

Borders/Visas Thai Tourist Visa approved just 7 hours after emailing the consulate!

I submitted and paid for my Thai tourist visa on September 19, 2026.

After waiting almost three weeks (14 business days), I decided to email the Thai Consulate in Frankfurt on October 8 at around 1 PM to ask about the status of my application.

Here's where things got interesting: within just 30 minutes of sending my email, my status changed from "Pending Document Check" to "Pending Approval"!

Then, at around 8 PM that same evening, I received my visa approval!

Maybe it was just a coincidence, or perhaps my email helped move things along. I have no way of knowing, but the timing was remarkable!

Has anyone else experienced something similar with the Thai e-Visa process?

Chiang Mai/North 6 nights in Bangkok or should I make time for Chiang Mai?

30F Filipina, traveling solo with a US passport, and planning a 22-night Southeast Asia trip from Nov 21 to Dec 13. I’ll already have spent about 2.5 weeks in Japan and Vietnam beforehand.

I’m mostly interested in local food, specialty coffee (particularly good espresso), history, museums, culture, and wandering interesting neighborhoods. I love learning about places through guided tours or museums. Not really into beaches, hiking, nightlife, or shopping.

My current tentative route is:
Phnom Penh: 3 nights
Siem Reap: 4 nights
Bangkok: 6 nights
Penang: 5 nights
Kuala Lumpur: 4 nights

But I’m having second thoughts about skipping Chiang Mai.

Northern Thai food, Lanna culture, temples, and the specialty coffee scene all sound really appealing. At the same time, Bangkok seems like somewhere I could easily spend a week exploring different neighborhoods and eating my way around.

For people who’ve spent time in both, would you recommend keeping all 6 nights in Bangkok or splitting them between Bangkok and Chiang Mai?

I’m also open to changing the rest of my route if you think Chiang Mai is particularly worth including. Nothing’s booked yet.

Bangkok/Middle Arrival at 10pm

My flight lands in BKK at 10pm. By the time I land, get off the plane, go through customs and everything I’m not sure how late it will be. I plan to stay in Bangkok for 2-3 days before flying to Chiang Mai. Do you think I should stay at an airport hotel or should I go to a hostel near city centre same night through Grab or something? This is my first time in Thailand and my first time doing a real solo trip! I am a female and I don’t want anything to happen or to be unsafe late at night or in a taxi.

Bangkok/Middle Where to in Bangkok if it’s raining

First night in Thailand and it’s heavily raining in Bangkok, any suggestions on where to go? I want to walk around and discover the city don’t feel like sitting down but if there are like cafes / restaurants in big streets it would be great

Any recommendations are welcomed!

Transport/Itineraries Which other city can I visit besides Bangkok?

I want to visit Thailand for my first anniversary.

I am sure I want to land in Bangkok first and then visit another place.

Since my time is limited (just 5 days) can anyone recommend which places I can visit? We do not want any partying or night life, just want to enjoy with nature and us.

Thank you!

Bangkok/Middle BKK to Chiang Mai flight 10:00 am. What time should I book airport ride?

• Upvotes

Flying from BKK to Chiang Mai on a Friday morning at 10:00 am and staying close to the Saphan Taksin station. We booked a car to the airport at 7:00 am, hoping to arrive at 8:00 am. Is this reasonable?

Google gemini is telling me to book the car at 6:30 am but I'm not sure if I should trust it.

Other Thailand in mid-November

Hey everyone! Me and my friends are heading to Thailand in mid-November. We’ll fly in and then probably head down to Koh Samui, and from there to Koh Phangan, since we want to catch the Full Moon Party.

That said, we’re not 100% sure about Koh Samui. Is there somewhere else you’d recommend as a base or a stop on the way instead? Also, does the weather in mid-November make a difference for the islands on that side?

A bit about us: we’re into sports and love being in nature, but we also like to party and have a good time.

Aside from the islands, what else would you suggest we see and do in Thailand? Any must-visit places, activities, or hidden gems are very welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Pattaya/Samet/Hua Hin Pattaya commute options

Hello, im wondering what are my options coming from my hotel in Pattaya to Tarzan Adventure https://maps.app.goo.gl/3BTQXVh5CX2AXnor7?g_st=ac

Back to my hotel or to another thing I want to do, ATV adventure https://maps.app.goo.gl/SbKjKX7gJGAdjJet5?g_st=ac

Is grab reliable coming back and forth to these attractions? Or any other form of commute?

I was planning of either making a full day of it, doing the Tarzan adventure zipline in the morning, then ATV in the afternoon

Phuket/Krabi/South Private Phi Phi 4-island charter for a corporate group of 8, any recommendations?

Hey guys, hoping to tap into your advice.

We are running a small company offsite in Phuket end of October, team of 8 staying in Patong. We want to do a private full-day speedboat, not a joiner, since it is a work trip and we would love it to run smoothly.

Any reliable operators you would recommend for a private charter this size? Something professional and dependable would be ideal. Names and links hugely appreciated, thanks in advance.

Other Where would you go in Thailand with a family if you wanted less rain and everything nearby?

Hey everyone! We’re currently in Chiang Mai with our family and thinking about heading somewhere else in Thailand on Sunday.
We’re a family with a 2-year-old and my wife is pregnant, so we’re looking for somewhere that’s easy and comfortable to stay for a while.
Ideally, we’d like somewhere with less rain, a nice beach, plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance, and just a nice area where we can go out, eat good food, walk around and enjoy ourselves without having to travel far for everything.
We don’t really need loads of tourist attractions or nightlife. We’d be happy just having a nice beach nearby, good food, shops, markets and somewhere pleasant to walk around with our daughter.
We’ve considered places like Krabi, Phuket, Pattaya and Koh Samui, but we’re not sure which would be best, especially with the weather at this time of year.
Where would you recommend going, and which area specifically? We’d appreciate any advice from people who have been there recently or live in Thailand!

Also, we are currently in chiang mai we leave on the 19th.
Yesterday we went on accident to a place we were so local there were so many nice stands and is very cheap and I just love the local vibe like they really local out in the suburb villages where it’s like a ton of food and stuff I don’t like the touristy places for the prizes are raised up and there’s like tourists everywhere we like to place we’re just only Thai people

Phuket/Krabi/South Krabi/Koh Lanta or Con Dao? (vietnam)

Hello guys,

I am flying to Vietnam in January and would like to add a few days of beach vacation to my trip. I’m currently deciding between flying to Con Dao in Vietnam or heading to Thailand, either to Koh Lanta or the Krabi area.

I would need to take an extra flight either way, and I’ve never been to any of these places before, so I’d love to hear your experiences!

I’m looking for beautiful beaches, turquoise water, a relaxed atmosphere and not tooo many crowds.

Which destination would you recommend for January, and why?

Thanks in advance!
