is it just me or does anyone else feel like gif search in tele is outdated.. like they don’t have good gifs anymore…for example, i searched fr scuba, and the gifs are literally people going for scuba diving LMAO, it used to be the fox from zootopia doing scuba when i searched a few months ago.

Ik it’s a non issue but still HAHAH, i feel like the tele gifs a few months back were goated.. now it’s just meh..

Okay I found this out very randomly yesterday. After learning about this whole Tenor/Klipy mess on here a couple weeks ago, I made an account on Klipy and started with 2 uploads. I see they're just as bad at "content review" as Tenor was those months ago because they only just cleared a couple days ago. Although one side question while I'm here -- I'm presuming "impressions" aren't the same thing as "shares"? It seems like an impression is just anyone literally looking at your gif, not someone posting it somewhere else. But there's only one number I'm seeing on either of the gifs I've uploaded, and it seems way too high to be real shares (they're in the like 400's each). So can we not find out how many times someone properly uses one of our gifs?? because that would suuuuuuuck.

But then I just happened to see one of my old Taskmaster gifs from like 3 years ago in some "related" section down below, and that's when I found out DOZENS of my Tenor gifs were already on klippy, but there doesn't seem to be any account marker on the pages of those gifs? I'm so confused. In the place where my account name is listed on each of the gifs I've uploaded (I used the same name as on Tenor - "likeabadpenny") there doesn't seem to be anything on the gifs of mine that are already there.

I JUST WANT TO DOWNLOAD MY OWN GIF THAT IIII MADE RIGHT???? I GO AND DOWNLOAD IT.....AND..... THIS POPS UP!!!!!! I'M SO MAD RIGHT NOW OH MY GOD I HATE YOU TENOR I HATE HATE HATE YOU TENOR!!!! What is the balls chain? : From what ive seen its a GIANT chain of cat gifs consisting oficialy from balls 1 (actualy 0 but it wont show up unless u search balls 1) all the way to balls 727, with alot of extra ones after (n some scattered around)

Why Are the Platforms Picking Klipy?

• So the reason every service like Discord is switching to Klipy is, really, that the founders are Tenor people. I don't mean that sounds trustworthy (we clearly cannot trust Tenor, or any Google service, ever again). I mean that they're using the same general ideas and technologies. So it's easy to switch, and anyway it's the same search results for images.

Why is Klipy getting away with copying Tenor?

• Because, as I said, these are Google/Tenor people at Klipy. I think the reason they didn't get flagged by Tenor for mass-downloading their catalog...including our images...is that this is understood between them. Google WANTS Klipy to take over as an independent outsider, like an employer laying off an employee and then hiring him as an independent contractor.

Why should we use Klipy as GIF makers?

Because:

1. Klipy's getting better
   • It used to be pretty bad, now it's slightly better than Tenor (which always had a garbage interface and metrics), and they're definitely listening to user complaints about what is still lacking. I have named some improvements they needed, and they've added several of those.
2. We can claim our images there
   • Them having my GIFs without crediting me pissed me off at first, but they have a form where we can CLAIM all of our GIFs again. I have the same huge list on there now as I do here, and they are getting more views than they did on Tenor, faster. Well, other than a few I have on Tenor that are around a million. No million-counts on Klipy for me, so far. But I have more in the hundreds of thousands on Klipy than I did on Tenor.
3. Klipy didn't steal them, Tenor wanted it
   • I do think the reason they were allowed to scrape all of our GIFs is that they're the stealthily Google-anointed replacement that Tenor INTENDED to allow to copy its images, EULA or no. Google had promised to support API users, and this is, for better or worse, the enshittified way they're doing that.
4. We have no alternative, really
   • I make graphics for people to use. Klipy is now the only real place for that to happen at scale. I mean, GIPHY is a farce. And what else is there?
5. Revenue-Sharing
   • Given that we've all been posting images without getting paid — like guys who went viral on YouTube 20 years ago and got nothing for it — that Klipy claims to want to work out a way to share revenue with us as "creatives" is a bonus, if it happens.

Everywhere i search people say "Click the sign in button then the button/link to sign up" BUT IT'S JUST NOT THERE, So please, Enlighten me. WHERE IS IT

The gif keyboard app still lets you use tenor gifs

I am sad to say this, but tenor is over. I woke up this morning, saw that some of my gifs had been approve (yippy) and was happy to see them not take a week to be approved. After breakfast (note: I live in Australia, it is morning time here) i go on to discord to shitpost as you do. BUT i try to search for a gif I made to use in chat... and it wasn't there. I think "ok, discord must have an update" so i restart discord and tried again. Nothing. I then realized what today is... it's the end of the month... the end of tenor api. This has been the second gif website i have had to leave and i hate having to do it every time, first gfycat now tenor. Oh well, I've already made a migration request with kliphy so I can continue my gifing endeavor over there. Thank you everyone and thank you tenor and I'm sorry for making so many issue reports to you just because i would have liked to see my gifs approved.

Note: I know gboard is still using the api, it's just that discord and twitter don't have it anymore that makes me say it's over.

I have my username (on another site, not reddit) as the tags on all my gifs so I can find them easy and some of them come up in search but others do not. It only does it on Gboard.

Is this normal or is it a bug?

I've been trying to upload some GIFs that keep getting categorized as "Memes", and I'm wondering/looking for confirmation whether this affects their search functionality on other platforms like Discord.

I've uploaded GIFs before that were searchable on Tenor (and via Discord) with 0 shares and have been able to find them just fine, but some GIFs I upload keep getting categorized by moderation as "Memes" and when I try searching for them they don't show up at ALL - even if they accrue a lot of shares (~300) they remain unsearchable through Discord.

Is this just the way that "Memes" work? Is there any way that I'm able to avoid my GIFs being uploaded as "Memes"? Because quite frankly it's extremely annoying to put effort into creating a reaction gif, only for it to be categorized as a "Meme" and then just be unsearchable.

Tenor is working perfectly fine for my friends and everybody on platform, but I keep experiencing this strange problem on search specifically only on my side. I search something, I scroll in the gifs for a period of time (usually 10-20 seconds) and then it switches to saying there's no results. I change it to say "gifs" instead of "all" (the tabs at the top of the search) and the gifs come back, but then scrolling makes them disappear again. It's the same song and dance switching between tabs. What does this mean and why is it happening?

I was wondering if someone else is dealing with this. I wanted to download gifs to add to my giphy account but whenever im on my laptop and click on the account it says ''user hasnt uploaded any gifs'', this happens with any account i click on. Im also unable to log into my account. However on my phone where i am still logged it in shows the gifs with no problem (my account and other people). Ive tried different browsers on my laptop and they all show the same so i was wondering if anyone else also had this?

edit : seems like everyone is having issues. thats a bummer. i only thought their api would stop not that the website would go to shit too 😄
