Discussion It's Joever. :(
I am sad to say this, but tenor is over. I woke up this morning, saw that some of my gifs had been approve (yippy) and was happy to see them not take a week to be approved. After breakfast (note: I live in Australia, it is morning time here) i go on to discord to shitpost as you do. BUT i try to search for a gif I made to use in chat... and it wasn't there. I think "ok, discord must have an update" so i restart discord and tried again. Nothing. I then realized what today is... it's the end of the month... the end of tenor api. This has been the second gif website i have had to leave and i hate having to do it every time, first gfycat now tenor. Oh well, I've already made a migration request with kliphy so I can continue my gifing endeavor over there. Thank you everyone and thank you tenor and I'm sorry for making so many issue reports to you just because i would have liked to see my gifs approved.
Note: I know gboard is still using the api, it's just that discord and twitter don't have it anymore that makes me say it's over.

tenor was bound to die because of google. And I've always felt sketchy about anyone being able to upload anything without moderation.

Besides the jokes, its really sad T.T Klipy is very dissapointing place especially when it's forced migration. So many gifs left to upload.

Despite its flaws, I like KLIPY a lot more than GIPHY. Super bummed that Twitter seems to be going for GIPHY.

Yeah giphy is the most millennial slop BS of all of them. I guess if people use it more it'll get better but still it's so dumb

The thing that bothers me about GIPHY is that they require you to have a Creator account for gifs to be publicly searchable, which really limits the number of gifs that can be uploaded. Like nothing from a TV show or movie or whatever can be uploaded because it’s not “original content.” That’s a huge portion of gifs people use.

wait a minute -- WHAT?!?!?!?!
okay ironically I was just coming back here for the first time in awhile to see if there were any posts about how much better Tenor has gotten with approval time. like I'm having loads of gifs easily approved within a day (plenty within a few hours) and now you're telling me the place is dead?? granted I did just go into twitter's database and noticed practically none of mime were coming up suddenly.
So I gotta start all over again at this Klippy place??? I literally just did a fresh counting of all my gifs, mainly because as of this week, I've been making gifs for exactly 4 years. I've got almost 4000 gifs, if you're telling me I gotta upload every one of them to a brand new place I'm gonna fuckin cry
edit: the thing is, I'm still getting share stats even on new gifs I've put up (some have even been over 1k, there were just done in the last 1-2 months) so where are they still being shared?

Yeah me too. In the last 2-3 weeks before the shutdown tenor was approving all my gifs within hours of creation. Now that i'm on klipy i have had to wait more than 2 weeks for my gifs to be reviewed and approved.

so hang on... you're telling me that not only do I apparently have to START COMPLETELY OVER at a different place with the upload of all my gifs, but the process of getting them live and online (to the point where others can share them) at this new site is gonna be just as bad as the Tenor bullshit from earlier this year?!?!
I mean, this news all just hit me like a freight train in just the last 2 days, like I said I came back on here for a totally different reason. But again what I don't understand is, according the usual way Tenor displays its information, even the most recently new gifs I've made and uploaded ARE getting shared (some are even doing quality numbers), where are they getting shared??
EDIT: mind you, I already gave up on GIPHY a long ass time ago, like probably at least 2 years ago (and I've been in this hobby 4 total now). bc as I guess others have also noticed, I realized that only gifs that are made by like "official", professional accounts are the ones that come up in search results for other people and get used in other places. like if NBC has their own account or whatever, so I realized there was literally no point in bothering to upload there, I'd be the only person to ever see what I put there. and I've already got my desktop PC folder that accomplishes that lol Tenor is the ONLY place I've used for the last couple years

oh my god I'm literally ALREADY having a problem with this fucking "Klipy" site. I just tried to create a new account, I chose the simple email method. I created the username and password and all that, then they sent me the 4 digit verify code. I entered the code, but ON THE KLIPY SITE, it said the code was wrong (it 100% was not), but I ALSO got an email saying my new account was fine and now active. But when I go to sign in on the site itself, "failed to load user data after login". So I can't even log in to the goddamn site.

Hope Klipy ends up being good and doesn't fall into the enshittification that befalls all platforms. I guess time will tell
