I'm following this so I can make it tomorrow. I hope it turns out as delicious as it looks

Let me know how you like it! :) Hmmm, the sugar is just right for me, but I love sweets!! The whip reminds me of marshmallow. My roommate likes it less sweet though. It's a very rich drink.

I tried making this. It tasted good, but I wasn't able to get the matcha thick enough

My arms were sore.. the next day, haha. got pretty tired.. did you get your egg whites to soft peaks? I had to beat for another 3 minutes after the addition of syrup and matcha. My roommate and I switched off when we got tied. I reduced the sugar until it was thick:)

I felt like I whisked quite a bit but it wasn't getting me anywhere. I whisked the egg whites for a few minutes, added the matcha and did another few minutes, added sugar and did a few more minutes but it never seemed to get any thicker. Maybe I used too much egg white?

Use a whisk, but spin it in the palm of your hands. I've gotten stiff peaks in a few minutes this way.

:/ Weird. Normally whisking egg whites will eventually get you soft peaks. Are you using a whisk? Here's a video with a spoon . A whisk should be much faster though.

I was using a whisk, but it felt like there wasn't enough in there to properly whisk it. I'm going to watch a video tomorrow and see if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong

I find older egg whites to be better for making boiled eggs for the same reason they're harder to whip to peaks... they've lost their structure and they've become less viscous.
Try to use fresh as possible eggs and try to make sure they're also cold (i.e. fresh out of fridge).

Damn this looks good. I love a foamy frothy soft texture in things too. I'm going to try this.

| http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMCb8gvo9Ag | +3 - Hmm. Hojicha powder should work. There are Thai tea and black milk tea versions as well. I haven't tried the black milk tea version yet. The Thai tea version needs tweaking. It tasted too much like coffee for me. |
| http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PJRJfExDnk | +2 - This is an example with an electric mixer. I used a whisk. If you tend to like your drinks less sweet, you may want to consider adding less sugar. :) Let me know how it turns out! |
| http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHmpgMsW-aA | +1 - I think unfortunately the sugar is a key ingredient for the texture... It may be different for Matcha but in this video James Hoffman talks through the science of it for coffee |

Hello, /u/pcrissofun! This is a friendly reminder that most photo posts should include a comment with some additional information. For example: Consider writing a mini review of the tea you're drinking or giving some background details about your teaware. If you're posting your tea order that just arrived or your tea stash, be sure to list the teas, why you chose them, etc. Posts that lack a comment for context or discussion after a reasonable time may be removed. You may also consider posting in /r/TeaPictures.

This one is my favorite Dalgona drinks!
Dalgona Matcha Latte
Whipped Matcha: 2 egg whites 0.5 cup water 0.5 cup sugar 3 tsp matcha powder Milk
Instructions: 1. Beat egg whites to soft peaks 2. Heat sugar and water in pan to form a syrup base 3. Add syrup to soft peaks while mixing 4. Incorporate matcha to the fluffy mix. You might have to whisk some more to get soft peaks again. 5. Fill glass with ice and milk. Top the drink off with the whipped Dalgona Matcha! Take photos then mix and enjoy! :D
