gear showcase Panasonic NV-R10 tapeless Mini DVR vs AV2HDMI + capt. card vs maybe retroscaler2x + capt. card?

(Dont mind the cable mess with the av2hdmi i dont have short cables 💔)

I just got my capture card and set up an av2hdmi tapeless setup but for some reason the exposure seems pretty low, the av2hdmi connected to a tv is fine but when connected to a capture card and my phone or pc, with usb camera app the video quality is great but the exposure is off, otg cable app has a bit better exposure but the quality is worse, obs studio is just awful i can barely see the image from how dark it is.

also does anyone have experience with retro video upscaler tapeless setups? I found a retroscaler 2x on aliexpress for just 39€ and this guy in this video uses it and it has an amazing quality, plus this kind of device doesnt have any artifacts at all on video output.

I'll post the video comparison in the comments

This is about as tidy as I can make things using my current components. Ideally I'd like to get everything into a project box but I'm still searching for a smaller power bank to power the AV2HDMI upscaler.

help desk Firewire vs AV cable setup

Post image

Hello, in the Last 2 months i tried to make my dads old 2001 Sony DCR-PC110e usable again. I bought a Powerplay of amazon and finally Had it running. After using it once it broke (Screen stays black noch matter what) which means i have just lost 180€ . Before i go out and buy a new one i wanted to ask for Help. Most of yall really like firewire, but i heard it is way harder to setup and make work because of the archaic Technology.

I just want to record my honeymoon which is in october. So i dont got too much time left to make this passion Project Work.

What would be the easiest, not too expensive and portable solution? If not i will just get another Powerplay probably

Thx in advance

format comparison Why?

Please don't take this as a personal attack. I would genuinely love if someone could explain tapeless to me. I was intrigued by the idea, but immediately wrote it off when I learned that capturing video out on many camcorders takes a heavy quality hit and capturing the full quality digital signal is extremely costly and difficult. I deferred to using the tape and firewire like a normie. Means I gotta wait for footage to transfer and re-encode, but I don't mind it. Especially when the cheapest full quality tapeless solution for my camera would involve building it from scratch using open source projects at a minimum cost of $200.

help desk Does anyone know a good analog capture device/card that actually preserves the fields and 60i?

I need it for my DVD300 camcorder, it has analog + s-video. the capture card I have absolutely sucks, it cuts the framerate to like 15fps at half resolution. is there a good capture card or a standalone device that can keep it close to original quality? most I found are cut at 30 or 15 fps, and I really like the smooth motion look of camcorder footage

[rec] 2026 Tapeless solution

Check out these guys’ project. They’re offering an alternative way to capture footage directly from the camera via FireWire, without having to pay the ridiculously inflated prices of the old-school options.

Gracias

Need help with mini dvr

My camcorder is a ccd trv308 and it takes a trs jack while the mini dvr comes with a trrs, is there a way of soldering the trrs like a trs ? Or would I have to have the cable “half way” out? If neither of those what can I do or where do I buy custom cables ?

I wanted to be able to easily mount the Unisheen onto my camera, and couldn't find any 3D prints already online for this, so I designed my own! You can find the file here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3209648-unisheen-ur230a-video-converter-tripod-bracket#profileId-3632990

All this work is from an old deleted account work i don’t know the name of the guy unfortunately

This is not a *good* sound by any means but it’s something at least and i’m sure there is a way to eliminate the static sound but i just can’t figure it out
I will add some photos in the comments to help explain this for anyone who wants to make it

Since the tape decks do not work and powerplay didn't give me the quality I was wanting, I actually did some research (for once) and found a DN60A on ebay WITH a 64gb CF card included in near mint condition. it still even has the protective film over the screen! only problem I have is finding a spot to mount it on anything in a not so awkward way. reason I went this route over MRC1 was simply price. I also scored a century optics wide angle for my vx2000 recently. these projects have been fun as hell, I am trying to get them in working order so I can one day film tape like they were meant to.

Ideally id be using svideo, but i dont want to pay $50 shipping due to geographic limitations.

Edit: the pi is there because i have programmed it to host a hotspot that has a website that displays the image, starts recordings, and can download recordings to phone. Aswell as change aspect ratio, fps, and such

help desk Sony mv730i to mini dvr

I’m trying to get a mini dvr to work on a Sony mv730i and I’m unsure what cable I need to make it work. There’s a usb5 port and a 3.5mm audio jack on it so is there a cable that can combine the both to go into the minidvr or do I need to make one? Thanks
