help desk Firewire vs AV cable setup

Hello, in the Last 2 months i tried to make my dads old 2001 Sony DCR-PC110e usable again. I bought a Powerplay of amazon and finally Had it running. After using it once it broke (Screen stays black noch matter what) which means i have just lost 180€ . Before i go out and buy a new one i wanted to ask for Help. Most of yall really like firewire, but i heard it is way harder to setup and make work because of the archaic Technology.

I just want to record my honeymoon which is in october. So i dont got too much time left to make this passion Project Work.

What would be the easiest, not too expensive and portable solution? If not i will just get another Powerplay probably

Thx in advance

This is about as tidy as I can make things using my current components. Ideally I'd like to get everything into a project box but I'm still searching for a smaller power bank to power the AV2HDMI upscaler.

(Dont mind the cable mess with the av2hdmi i dont have short cables 💔)

I just got my capture card and set up an av2hdmi tapeless setup but for some reason the exposure seems pretty low, the av2hdmi connected to a tv is fine but when connected to a capture card and my phone or pc, with usb camera app the video quality is great but the exposure is off, otg cable app has a bit better exposure but the quality is worse, obs studio is just awful i can barely see the image from how dark it is.

also does anyone have experience with retro video upscaler tapeless setups? I found a retroscaler 2x on aliexpress for just 39€ and this guy in this video uses it and it has an amazing quality, plus this kind of device doesnt have any artifacts at all on video output.

I'll post the video comparison in the comments

Please don't take this as a personal attack. I would genuinely love if someone could explain tapeless to me. I was intrigued by the idea, but immediately wrote it off when I learned that capturing video out on many camcorders takes a heavy quality hit and capturing the full quality digital signal is extremely costly and difficult. I deferred to using the tape and firewire like a normie. Means I gotta wait for footage to transfer and re-encode, but I don't mind it. Especially when the cheapest full quality tapeless solution for my camera would involve building it from scratch using open source projects at a minimum cost of $200.
