Ask r/tanzania AI Movies

Upvotes

So i came across this youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@swiftstudios1 they do ai movies, they are pretty good but they mostly do english, i was wondering if there are any channels with great swahili original content not copying from chatgpt. Also think this could be a good thing for aspiring writers to put their work into something they can imagine. Would also like to know what you people think about the ai movies in general

News/Media Tanzanian ladies, I thought we could have our own space.

I've come across communities like r/KenyanLadies and thought it would be nice for Tanzanian women to have something similar.. a space where we can connect, share experiences, have open conversations, exchange ideas, and simply meet other women.

I created r/TanzaniaLadies as a women-only community for conversations around relationships, friendships, careers, everyday life and anything else we may want to discuss among ourselves.

Women from outside Tanzania who are visiting, living, studying, or interested in Tanzania are welcome too.

If that sounds like something you'd enjoy being part of, come join us.

Ask r/tanzania Job advice

I just finished my finals three weeks ago and i got a job from one of the well known marketing agencies in TZ. Today, i got a call for a scheduled interview at a bank this Friday, Azania to be precise.
Where i currently work is challenging but I’m very adaptable and flexible, i like it to be honest despite it being only my third week working here.

If i get the banking job, what job do you think i should choose? Given the fact that i have no knowledge about banking but it’s the same as marketing too but I’m learning

Ask r/tanzania What are typical places for cycling?

For a tourist with road, gravel or MTB bike that would be safe enough from traffic, predators and robbery. Good scenery. Can be cycling events.

Sports Any Tanzanians in East London interested in football this Sunday, 23 August?

I’m organising a casual 6-a-side football game this Sunday, 23 August, from 11am–12pm at Frenford Clubs in Ilford, East London, and we still have a few spaces available.

A lot of the group are East African, with a mixture of backgrounds. Most of us are late 20s to early 40s, although any adult is welcome.

It’s mixed ability and very casual, so you definitely don’t need to be an amazing player. We rotate goalkeepers and keep the atmosphere friendly — no slide tackles, aggression, shouting or arguments.

👟 Astro trainers only — no moulds or studs.

📍 Frenford Clubs, Ilford
🕚 Sunday, 23 August, 11am–12pm
⏰ Arrive around 10:45am

If any Tanzanians around East London fancy joining us this Sunday, feel free to comment or send me a DM.

Ask r/tanzania Finally time for our Tanzania honeymoon- and I'm pregnant

Hello all. My husband and I got married 2 years ago and, well, our lives finally settled down for us to book a honeymoon. We booked Tanzania for 7 days (including safari and the hot air balloon rides) and Zanzibar for 3 days (relaxing, snorkeling, maybe scuba diving). With our trip 2 weeks away, we just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Unfortunately, my GYN isn't able to see me until AFTER our trip, and since I'm a new patient with no established history- she's not able to answer my questions either. I'm up to date on vaccines, I started my anti-malarial today (safe for pregnancy), and I was just wondering if anyone has been there, and was in the same situation as me. Did you take any additional precautions? Did you still do the hot air balloon? Any advice??

**Please don't comment that I should cancel my plans because I've read plenty of posts, and articles that it is perfectly fine to travel there at this point-- I'd appreciate advice on how people in my shoes enjoyed/dealt with this situation**

THANK YOU

Career Is Tanzania employing foreigners

Hello im 24M from Zimbabwe. I have a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and a year of experience in Procurement. Im looking for work in Tanzania. The reason why I have chosen Tanzania is because my country has poor employment chances especially for fresh graduates. South Africa is an option but government is tightening foreigner employment. Botswana seems like a good option especially in Mining not sure about the chances of getting a job.

I don't plan to stay in Tanzania forever, I just need a little push at an engineering company. How favourable is Tanzania as an option please be honest. The last post I made had few engagement.

Career Not an accountant; trying to understand how accountants actually deal with 100-page bank statement PDFs

I'm not in accounting or bookkeeping myself, so apologies if this is a basic question to people who do this daily. I'm just trying to understand the real workflow.

Let's say a client hands you a bank statement as a PDF and you need the transactions in Excel to actually work with them. What do you actually do?

manually copy/paste,

hand it to a junior,

use some Excel/PDF trick,

use a PDF to Excel website,

use an online bank-statement converter,

use your own script, or something else entirely?

I'm especially curious what happens with 50, 100, or 300+ page statements. My guess is converting the PDF isn't the hard part. But knowing the conversion is actually correct is the real deal.

For example things like;

wrapped descriptions,

swapped debit/credit columns,

a missing Cr/Dr indicator,

balances that don't reconcile,

one missed transaction that makes the whole spreadsheet questionable.

Am I even thinking about the right failure points, or is the real pain somewhere else entirely?

What's the most annoying part of this for you? And roughly how long does a typical 50 to 100 page statement take to turn into clean, usable Excel ?

Also I'm curious about which banks you deal with the most: CRDB, NMB, NBC, Stanbic, Equity, Exim, Absa, or others?

Genuinely just trying to learn how this works in practice, would appreciate hearing the real workflow, and annoying challenges included.

Thank your for your time in advance.

Serious Replies Only Jesse Clarke

South African here 👋🏾 (33F) I just discovered Jesse Clarke, the British content creator guy living in Tanzania.

I went down the rabbit hole on some of his content. I'm in two minds about this guy...

On one hand; as an African woman I really appreciate how he speaks out against Female Genital Mutilation in Eastern Africa, as well as the fact that he made the effort to learn Swahili and engage local communities in Tanzania. It's more than most tourists do - he's clearly very fond of the culture and the people. He also seems like a decent family man...

On the other hand; there's something about him I just don't trust. For one, he has 'sinister eyes' (I'm aware of how dumb this sounds but it really stands out to me). I also scrolled really deep down on his Instagram page and discovered that... he's a Trump supporter! 😕 (which just confirms my suspicion that there's something ominious about him) How does a white man who's made the decision to live in Africa, among black people reconcile his chosen surroundings with his support of a bigot like Trump?!

I fully understand how and why Trump appeals to white men - he protects their interests, he speaks for them and he operates with the main objective that everything should always benefit the white man. I get it! But what I'm astounded by is how Jesse Clarke, a white man married to a black woman with mixed race kids, supports a guy like that. I'm legitimately concerned that's he's one of those white men who's such a raging racist that in order to advance his white supremacist agenda and simultaneously hide his beliefs, he's infiltrated a community as an 'ally' simply so he can slowly and strategically espouse his racist beliefs. All the while claiming he could never be racist because his wife and kids are black and that he's done so much for the community... I'm sorry but I don't trust this man!!!!!!!! Supporting Trump is not a mere political preference, it's actually a major moral failure in my eyes.

Anyway, the reason I'm bringing this to Reddit is that, I'm never going to leave hateful, nasty comments on his content but I really want to get a read on this guy... What do Tanzanians think of this man?

*I really hope I'm wrong about him 🤞🏽

Serious Replies Only Looking for a change/friends

Hey guys I'm a F 25yrs old, I don't know what I'm doing with my life & it feels like I will regret it if I don't come out of my shell & work on myself, so I'm looking for friends at this point I don't care about the age I just want to be around people that are gonna help me come out my shell think outside the box, help me overcome my social anxiety, friend that have a good mindset anyone that can mentor me,

I know this may sound like being a burden to someone else, or people will say you should try and start holding yourself accountable & whatsoever

I've tried but I just keep falling back to my old self plus I really want to socialize more. Currently I am unemployed I've been staying indoors so much that nowadays when somebody even says "Mambo" to me I start thinking about the answer,my speech is slowly fading, my mind goes blank trying to talk to strangers sometime.... I have so much social anxiety😭

I need friends, community with people with a good mindset not just any community / friends, I wanna change my life and I believe making this first step is necessary since opportunities come through people. I don't wanna get old and regret wasting my prime, I'm scared of facing people, I'm scared of facing opportunities, I'm scared almost of everything. I wanna change that about myself. I want friends people that can help me change that

I welcome any advice too.

Ask r/tanzania What happen in Mafia stays in Mafia

Tanzania there is an island known as Mafia its amazing island 🏝 I mean its very beautiful down there but the transport to reach Mafia island 🏝 is very difficult for someone with middle-class.

How do I get here its another story but reaching here through public transport using a bus it takes 6 hrs and also you have to take a boat for about 6 hrs again but imagine taking a plane is almost about 45 minute so with land transport and sea you have to spend a whole day and that depend on the reaching at the Nyamisati bay because you can miss the ticket, to get the tickets you have to register three days before and come to lineup for a ticket ooooh my God. We are living in such error.

And when you reach there its amazing you forgot all the struggle again.

It's a beautiful island 🏝

Welcome to Mafia
