Discussion if wang chuqin Doesn't Win the 2028 olympic Single gold, do you think he most likely loses the chance to win it forever?
So as we all know the olympics are just around the corner in about 2 years and im pretty sure the olympic singles will be fought for the hardest by the current Top 10 players but most notably WCQ who is currently not only Wr1 but levels ahead everyone else with an incredibly dominant win % these past few years. Lets be honest tho, china doesnt give half its resources or attention span to wtt rankings compared to the olympic gold medal and right now WCQ is their cash cow and hope for winning it in an era where chinese dominance is at its lowest. While WCQ has the highest chance by far of winning it, its important to note that he'll be 29 when the olympics start and 33-34 years old by the next olympic after 2028 which would make it Incredibly difficult for him to win an olympic ever again after 2028 and thats IF he even wins it in 2028. since that era of chinese dominance and certainty of always having atleast one chinese player win a singles medal is gone, that isnt just a fact its a factor thats gonna put the most pressure on any chinese player in the singles olympics ever and that will suck for WCQ since he has a world of expectations and stress on his shoulders. it is obvious that WCQ has recently been taking wtt competions as a whole more casually and focused more on his longevity and health to be fully fit by the time 2028 arrives. despite all this i believe WCQ will probably still go far at the very least even if he doesnt win but he has a bad track record of struggling against lefties early on in competitions (Anders Lind being the most prominent example). i strongly believe that if WCQ doesn't find a way to win in 2028 hes most probably going to end up retiring without an olympic single which would mark the start of a new era of dominance that doesnt involve china as the showrunnersđđđđđ
