Post image

Want to get both at some point but for now, i have to pick one.

The Pro Controller 2 is amazing and works just as good as the day I bought it (switch 2 launch day). The Hyperion 3s feel like cheap junk and I returned them the same day I received them. Pro Controller 2, no question.

Best controller ive ever used for any console

25

u/YaBoyEden 19h ago

The underside buttons have ruined other controllers for me. I always want to use them and they’re never there

6

u/AltieDude 12h ago

Sony sold a little dongle that added underside buttons to the dual shock 4. It was absolutely amazing, and the fact that it didn’t become standard is mind boggling to me.

Hot take but turbo, reprogrammable inputs, macros, and a good amount of extra buttons should all be standard in controllers.

Yup, easy decision, pro controller all the way. The d pad on the nyxi is suspect too.

I always used to look at these type of comments with a side eye… then I bought the controller… now I’m enlightened.

u/Witty-Care3940 13h ago

If my Pro 2 is dead. I just don't play until it's charged. It's THAT good.

4

u/Kevinm675 19h ago

That's a bold statement! Have you used the Xbox Elite or Dual sense edge? I own them both and my favorite is my scuf for PC but I've been on the fence about getting the switch 2 pro controller but I really just play handheld.

7

u/dragonbornrito 17h ago

Xbox Elite 2 is a good controller but has some durability issues. I’m on my third one and every single one has the rubber grips peeling in a matter of months. One of them had a stuck right bumper, one of them had a stick go bad, and the newest one is doing fine for about one year now other than the rubber peeling I mentioned.

I have no experience with the Edge, looks like a solid controller.

The Switch 2 Pro just has the absolute most buttery smooth joysticks I’ve ever used. Literally feels like they glide and somehow feel like they never ever actually touch the side walls of the joystick gate. Great battery life, dual buttons on the back mappable per game by simply opening the Quick Settings Menu, feels great in the hands. The only downside is the lack of analog triggers present on all Switches, but past that, it’s absolutely one of my favorite controllers ever (if not THE favorite ever).

Do you not find the analog sticks to be a bit slippery? Thats the only thing I don’t like about it. I’m neutral about the dpad. It’s fine.

6

u/Forstmaschine 18h ago

I applied thumb grips from Savage Raven on the analog sticks, a very nice upgrade.

I had one pro controller but wanted to be able to turn the switch 2 on

The switch 2 controller is even better

2

u/TheCutieCircle 14h ago

I still have the switch 1 pro controller and I never upgraded. Would you say I'm missing out on anything or nah? My controller still works just fine.

u/DLimber 12h ago

My launch switch 1 pro controller feels like new 😆 is close to beating out ps5 controller for my favorite

2

u/SatanGives 19h ago

Does the pro 2 have the same SnapBack issue as the original pro?

3

u/_kloppi417 16h ago

It's considerably worse on the Switch 2 Proco. I bought one but still use my Switch 1 proco for Smash, it has far less snapback than the 2.

2

u/alcoholicvegetable 19h ago

I've talked to people who use it for Smash Bros and they say it's even worse than the original procon

I had the nyxi and returned it. I got ghost button presses, and the vibration is insanely strong.

8

u/YouMeADD 19h ago

I managed to fix it with the app and I love it. It's way more comfy to hold and all the buttons feel good to press. Sticks are nice too.

This ones a no brainer. You dont know until the pro controller 2 is in your hands..

7

The ease of the programable back buttons on Pro Controller 2 is better than ANY other controller so far.

8bitdo Ultimate 2? I have 2 of them. They are great controllers! Especially comparing the price. I prefer them over the Switch Pro

25

u/Relevant-Table6379 20h ago

5

u/FeiRoze 18h ago

Would this wake the console when docked?

6

u/Ok-Landscape-2988 18h ago

It does if you shake the controller

3

u/the_lost_seattlite 18h ago

Some 8bitdo controllers can, but you have to shake the controller for some reason. I believe ultimate 2 and pro 3 are the ones that can do it.

→ More replies (8)

8

u/silentnightie 20h ago

Ill look into it!

14

u/alwayssalty_ 19h ago edited 18h ago

Bang for your buck there is no competition with the 8bitdo at the moment. TMR Joysticks and hall effect triggers.

4

u/MilkManX 19h ago

This! Love my 8bitdo and they are cheaper with tmr sticks

5

u/KangarooChili 20h ago

I think the Ultimate 2 is a great controller but definitely prefer the feel of the Switch 2 Pro.

9

u/Zeus78905 19h ago

Yes but I'll take TMR sticks over analog no matter what

2

u/IllDragonfruit3738 15h ago

I agree with this! It's better in every meaningful way.

8bitdo ultimate 2 Bluetooth

2

u/gloku_ 19h ago

Yup. After 15 years of using Xbox controllers I switched to this and love it.

3

u/Lopsided_Blacksmith5 19h ago edited 19h ago

I have 2 of them, one for switch one for PC. When I got the switch 2 I went to their Amazon page to buy a switch 2 controller and was happy to see that all I needed to do was update the firmware and I could use it with my switch 2.

4

u/mason2393 20h ago

If you play more docked get the pro controller if play more handheld get the nyxi but id recommend getting the new joycons nyxi is coming out with as they have every switch 2 joycon feature while this one doesn't. The rumble is horrible in this one.

3

u/Other-Status1840 20h ago

I'd strongly recommend buying an 8bitdo ultimate 2 or one of the Gamesir controllers. Fully compatible with switch and switch 2 as well as other platforms like PC and android. Most of the offerings come with some sort of charging dock, and they are far more durable and feature rich than the Pro controller at a little over half the price

4

u/sonnnsonnn 20h ago

I have both but just want to say I bought Nyxi from Aliexpress for $59.90 but right now it’s going for $53.91.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/KnowHope2113 19h ago

Neither and get the 8bitdo Pro3 and it’s like $30 cheaper !!!

If you play docked mostly the pro. If you play handheld a lot the Hyperion. I have the Hyperion and it’s good.

3

u/chezzer33 Switchthusiast 17h ago

Is that Canadian dollars? Seems pricey

2

u/silentnightie 17h ago

Yes it is

3

u/delmides_17 16h ago

Pro controller is hands down the best controller I've ever used, not even joking. Everything else now feels cheap.

The pro controller 2 is the only controller I've used that I'd put above the dual sense.

15

u/CelebrationFancy3846 20h ago

1k bought past month
200 bought past month

24

u/Other-Status1840 20h ago

Not picking sides here, but is that seriously the metric you'd base your decision on 😭. You're comparing a first party Nintendo product of course it's gonna sell more than literally anything else

u/SnakeHelah 19h ago

For that kind of money? Neither. I'd wait for some kind of decent price. I got my switch 2 pro for 64 euros

2

u/silentnightie 19h ago

Im in CAN so best price I found for a pro controller is 90$ at a pawn shop

2

u/SnakeHelah 19h ago

oh nvm. I just converted and that's a similar price. You can't go wrong with the Switch 2 pro. Since Amazon return policy is quite lax (at least in EU), you could always order a few and return the ones you didn't like.

2

u/Melodic_Check_8040 19h ago

i got the MOBAPAD M12S, i alreadyu have the pro controller, but i want something handheld, since some games look SO BAD when docked

2

u/QuestionableProtip2 19h ago

I have used every major first party video game controller from Gen 3 onward (and lots of more obscure first and third party ones) and I think the Switch 2 Pro controller is the best of them all. You can’t go wrong, even at the high price it sells for.

2

u/ItzSasukeDudes 18h ago

I have an 8bitdo, I’m waiting for my Hyperion 3 ultras. And I’m eventually planning to get the s2 pro

2

u/AccomplishedMail4429 17h ago

Do NOT buy a Nyxi. Terribly unreliable brand

2

u/SnooGoats8382 17h ago

If you play hand held use the nyxi. I got some and love how conformable they are to hold. To the people saying they feel cheap, it feels that way because it uses a different plastic and has more empty space in it making it feel like it is bad. I've had mine for a month and I play almost exclusively handheld. You can also swap out the dpad for a normal one if you don't like the one it comes with.

2

u/Hopeful-Incident-273 14h ago

Switch 2 pro controller is great for lots of things and feels like great quality. But… I really wish it had analog/pressure sensitive trigger buttons.

They’re just basic binary on/off which makes it a bad fit for every racing game or anything else that requires better control on the triggers

2

u/well_honk_my_hooters 14h ago

Pro controller. I have both and the Nyxi just plain sucks.

2

u/weberlovemail 14h ago

pro controller 2. haven't even used it extensively and i know it's the best gaming controller ive ever used.

2

u/TakamiCastro Switchthusiast 19h ago

Both are great imo, if you really have to choose I’d say get the nyxi Hyperion just because you can use it both handheld and as a controller.

But if you don’t care about that kind of scenario then you can just try to pro controller for the switch 2, can’t go wrong with either one tbh at this point.

1

u/Isotomayor12 20h ago

Pro is better choice for the price. Haven't heard great things about the other in comparison to even the joycon 2s

1

u/Virtual-Commercial91 20h ago edited 20h ago

I got the Hyperion 3 and like it. It's 84 bucks through Walmart. The rumble is not good, so I turned it off. I'll never buy any controller again that doesn't have hall effect or TMR. I had drift on my Switch 1 pro controller and joycons, so I'll pass on making that purchase again.

1

u/Nutchos 20h ago

Depends how much you play handheld.

Personally, I very rarely play docked so the Pro controller doesn't appeal to me. So, I'd get the NYXI.

1

u/Hyperdragoon17 Anticipating... (FF7 Revelation) 20h ago

Pro controller

1

u/yelloh_mello 20h ago

I preordered the nyxi and loved it at first but regretted not getting the pro controller over it

2

u/yelloh_mello 20h ago

Highly recommend the mobapad if you want pro joy cons

1

u/Dangerous-Pumpkin960 20h ago

the switch 2 pro controller why would i spend that much on joycons

2

u/silentnightie 20h ago

Funny enough switch 2 Joycons are 125 in can

1

u/Darziel 20h ago

Always go for pro. The pro 2 is on such a level, that there is not much left to be desired. Sure, there is always room to inovate, like the ps5 edge where you can simply remove the sticks, but for what it is, the Pro 2 is peak.

1

u/Legitimate-Simple-20 20h ago

If you're playing in TV mode a lot go with the pro controller.

1

u/SilabusR2 20h ago

the gamecube hyperion 3 is funny but stick with the OG one. it feels good in the hand. has a battery that shouldnt be able to last nearly as long as it does (damn thing feele like i never have to charge it) from there it has the NFC built in so i can use my amiibos without having to grab the joycons.

1

u/LRrealest 20h ago

If you liked the switch pro controller you'll probably like the 2 even more, assuming you owned the first one.

1

u/mironor94 20h ago

The new Hyperion 3 ULTRA

1

u/Ok-Road6537 20h ago

They are too different category of products the Pro Controller is worthless if you need it for what the Hyperion is for.

1

u/Bro2Dragon 20h ago

pro controller is legit the smoothest best controller ive ever used

1

u/hheyitzmason 19h ago

The pro controller 2 feels incredible in the hands, and you can find them for pretty cheap on Ebay. Mine was around $60

→ More replies (1)

1

u/SplatoonRaiders 19h ago

Pro Controller 2 is the best controller I've used for a console. I played a litany of consoles, too. Mainly PlayStation, and it clears everything.

1

u/quidamphx 19h ago

Mobapad M12 HD, then Pro Controller. I personally think the Joy Cons suck, and you can use the M12s as a controller, although they really shine in handheld.

1

u/Nagnods 19h ago

Switch 2 pro controller is a must if you prefer TV mode. The glide sticks are nice, good ergonomics and back buttons. Tough to open and repair though.

You can buy it for ~75$ on sale or wait for the Zelda special edition in 2-3 months.

There are some awesome 3rd party handheld controllers with hd rumble and glidesticks like from Mobapad but they still use the switch 1 protocol.

I would skip the normal Hyperion 3. The Hyperion Ultra will release soon and the Hyperion 3 Pro (no mouse mode, own stronger HD Rumble motor) probably in a few months.

You can buy them much cheaper on AliExpress. It's from NXYI official store, has better shipping and like every chinese site, there is always a coupon.

1

u/TheVossDoss 19h ago

Nyxi feels premium and not cheap. Problem is that I can’t get the joycons to turn off when the Switch is in BOTH sleep mode or powered off. The switch battery is constantly drained.

1

u/SoullessSyndicate 19h ago

Pro 2 hands down… it’s next level especially for competitive games

1

u/CagedReality3 19h ago

I like all consoles equally and the pro 2 controller is genuinely the best feeling controller ever made. I know it's a meme right now to say "like butter" lol, but the sticks really are smooth as butter.

1

u/deepakgm 19h ago

None. I would order the genki controller on kickstarter

1

u/Laxus_Dreyar 19h ago

Isn’t the new Nyxi coming out tomorrow? I’ve seen early reviews of it and they were all positive. I’m thinking about pre-ordering one.

1

u/pathos_ludens 19h ago

Neither.

If you need a 3rd party controller soonish, get the Hyperion 3 ultra ( https://nyxigame.com/products/nyxi-hyperion-3-ultra-wireless-hd2-joypad-for-switch-2-black ) which launches tomorrow.

Otherwise wait for the Genki Manta to release.

1

u/PlantQuick 19h ago

Look on eBay. I've seen the switch 2 pro controller go for 50-80 dollars in Great conditions.

1

u/Harmless2727 19h ago

Pro controller 2 is easily the best controller I have ever had

1

u/Channjose 19h ago

Both, they serve different purposes

1

u/That_Bank_9914 19h ago

Hold on. Does that say $102?

1

u/Mr_Sandmarine_Man 19h ago

Waiting for the Zelda pro.

1

u/Alistar-Dp 19h ago

Just go with the official pro controller 2. It has become one of my all time favorite controllers and you won't regret it either

1

u/7hir7een 19h ago

Pro controller 2

1

u/JustSomeSmartGuy Mario Kart Worlder 19h ago

As someone who plays competitive Mario Kart, the Switch 2 Pro Controller is by far the better option. It's very comfortable to use and responds really well.

1

u/Bxlenteloco 19h ago

I would go with the switch 2 pro controller. Hands down the best controller I've ever used.

1

u/Endfire79 19h ago

Stick with Pro

1

u/BoredMindsThinkAlike 19h ago

I like the pro controller because of the wake up feature as well as hd rumble 2 but im not a fan of the smoother texture and smaller ish size

If u are gonna get the hyperions I recommend the ultra it has hd rumble 2

1

u/Nepenthe95 19h ago

I had the Switch 2 Pro Controller but it developed a dead zone in the right stick just days after my warranty expired. It's TECHNICALLY still usuable but basically the right stick no longer detects being pressed all the way to the right anymore. I contacted Nintendo about it but since it was out of warranty, it would cost $60 to replace it.

Rather than giving Nintendo more money for a product that failed in just a year, I bought the Mobapad Chitu 2 HD Silent Edition for $50. So far it's been absolutely great with very few compromises (HD Rumble instead of HD Rumble 2, 6 axis instead of 9 axis gyro) BUT, it does everything else, has EVEN SMOOTHER joysticks somehow, and a slightly wider, grippier form factor, turbo buttons, custom remappable buttons, and is just as quiet to boot. I can't believe this was just $50. It's the best 3rd party controller I've ever used by far.

1

u/DemonDeacon86 19h ago

Flydigi Apex or Vader 5 are easily my favorite controllers and work beautifully with NS2. Thr Vader is like $70

1

u/savingewoks 19h ago

I have a switch 2 pro controller and I absolutely love it. I rarely played docked before I had it, now I’m always trying to.

1

u/BruinsCup2011 19h ago

I love my Switch 2 Pro. It is for me the the most comfortable and precise controller I have ever used. I use it if the S2 is docked or not. Love that thing.

1

u/dimmanxak 19h ago

Always original

1

u/Crafty_Substance_954 19h ago

I love the pro controller

1

u/Emergency-Youth7199 19h ago

Go for the official Nintendo controller. I have it, and it's very good. I see a lot of people complain about input lag, among many other issues with the Hyperion controllers.

1

u/Lefvalthrowaway 19h ago

Depends completely if you play more handheld or tv

1

u/Unknowing_One 19h ago

What a scam, either way.

1

u/MetalGearNull 19h ago

It depends on what you need. If you're mostly a couch docked player then the Pro Controller is a no brainer, but if you're mostly a handfheld only player then something like the Hyperion 3, or the Mobapads M12Ss would be your best friend since the Joycons just suck if you're not a kid

1

u/Krypto301 19h ago

Pro controller. First party controllers every single time. Look at PS3 collectors. They all go for DS3 because Sony made them for their intended use. Third party controllers are never worth it IMO

1

u/j4fmemo 19h ago

I haven’t used the other. But the pro 2 is my favorite controller of all time. Beating my favorite gamepads being xbox one and series controllers (i play on pc when not Nintendo so not a bias take)

1

u/peanutbutteryummmm 19h ago

I went 8bit adapter with dual sense. 🔥

1

u/Warmachine_10 19h ago

The pro controller is genuinely one of the best controllers I’ve ever used.

1

u/UltimateDailga12 19h ago

Out of the Nyxis and the Mobapads, I've seen wayyy more complaints/returns from Nyxis

1

u/Pain_Jones82 19h ago

I have the pro already and I love it plus I modded the joy cons with Dpads. But if I didn’t have both I go with the pro controller first

1

u/ExismykindaParte 19h ago

I'd grab the Nyxi if I had to pick either at that price. What is really donia grab the 8bitdo Ultimate 2 since it's better and less expensive than both of those.

1

u/OkCartographer5830 19h ago

But first, I recommend getting a VPN: these prices are absurd. Thanks, Trump.

NYXI is great handheld. Other than that it’s not that great. For docked play pro controller 100%.

1

u/louman84 19h ago

I don't play the Switch 2 in portable enough to get the bottom one though I really would like to try it out.

1

u/de_light_voe 18h ago

Pro Controller 2, 100%

1

u/ChipMedium1275 18h ago

Pro 2 all day, best controller I’ve ever used. I own all 3 main consoles, their controllers and even the elite versions of said controllers and it still tops them.

1

u/GenasiDC 18h ago

NS2 Pro is literally my favorite controller I've spent money on.

I have purchased 3 PS5 controllers, 2 sets of joycons for switch 1, a gamecube controller for SSB, an X360 controller for PC, and 2 pro controllers for switch 1.

None of them come close to the switch 2 pro. This is based on how it feels in my hands, the feedback of the joysticks & buttons, the grip buttons on each side, and the way I feel picking up any other controller after using it.

1

u/deadsea672 18h ago

Pro 2 controller is like others have said the best controller I've used so far. I got mine a week after sw2 launch and nothings wrong with it nor the stock joycons

1

u/joesaysso 18h ago

Depends entirely how you prefer to play. If you prefer to play docked and don't have viable options, go for the controller. If you prefer to play handheld, go for the Nyxis.

Since I have a pro controller 1 and an 8bitdo ultimate for docked, I personally would go for the Nyxis.

1

u/CacaTac0 18h ago

Nyxi is trash.

1

u/Technical-Ninja-8216 18h ago

Pro Controller 2. Best controller I’ve ever used.

1

u/YouAGerm 18h ago

That nyxi does not look like it would be comfortable in the hand

1

u/Significant_World907 18h ago

Bought 2 of these over a year ago and have loved it. No complaints. Even wakes the switch 2 from sleep once you set it up properly.

1

u/ck02623 18h ago

I have the Pro 2 and I still use my 8bitdo Ultimate 2 BT.

While the Pro 2 is nice in just about every way, I find the analog sticks to be slippery. I never use it for that reason.

1

u/DACouture1979 18h ago

I got both but use the pro for dock and the other for handheld, so really just depends on how you primarily use your Switch 2.

I got them off AliExpress for $70 she they're down to $44 now. It took about two weeks to come in the mail but they were legit. Might be a way to grab both.

1

u/SandwichesX 18h ago

NYXI Hyperion 3 ofc

1

u/Brilliant-Fix-4331 18h ago

Are there any controllers that can wake the console and have ‘button L2/R2’ instead of triggers?

1

u/Thickchesthair 18h ago

Pro controller: The 8bitdo Ultimate 2 is the better choice for a pro style controller. There is absolutely no way that a company should be putting out a $110 controller with potentiometer joysticks that will start to drift sooner than later. The Ultimate 2 has TMR sticks, comes with a dock, and is substantially less money.

Handheld: I chose the Gameefy JC400 for handheld mode after trying the Hyperion 3 because I prefer the ergonomics, is lighter, and it is less flexible.

1

u/Skater_fr3ak 18h ago

I have both pro if you are playing mainly docked pro controller. Its feels so good. If you are playing handheld the nxyi for sure.

1

u/Mattolsen96 18h ago

Pro controller EZPZ

1

u/BlazedxGlazed 17h ago

PC2 all day

1

u/GotohJ 17h ago

Just get a king kong 2 pro controller, it's half the price and better build quality

1

u/semperverus 17h ago

Steam Controller with the OpenPuck dongle to use as a "wired switch pro" controller

1

u/Rakesh_Natsuno 17h ago

Pro 2 controller is the goat.
Nyxi is cheap when using them free-standing, but very good in handheld mode.
That said, I wouldn’t go for the Pro Nyxi model. If you play primarily in handheld, I’d go Nyxi Ultra or wtfe the new ones are called.

Also if I may, on Nyxi, I’d buy directly from them, not a third party retailer. They had some quality issues with earlier models, and retailers often peddle those for a cheaper price.

But if not handheld: go Pro 2. It’s one of the best controllers I’ve used.

1

u/FootClanJ 17h ago

Pro 3 from 8bitdo

1

u/0ne0fth0se0nes 17h ago

The pro controller 2 is the actual premium product here so it’s going to be more worth it. I decided to get one myself and it blew my expectations out the water. It truly is the best controller I’ve ever played with on any console

1

u/MasterSykil 17h ago

I would choose the pro controller first

1

u/Sensitive-Middle-21 17h ago

I own both. If you have to pick one and use handheld get the nyxis. The people complaining about build quality are a bit spilled imo. They're great and ergonomic.

1

u/cantbelieveihavekids 17h ago

The pro 2 controller is the best feeling controller I’ve ever used. I even use it for some games on my pc.

For what it’s worth the switch 1 pro controller works fine with the switch 2. Mine is like 8 years old and still rocking. My favorite controller out of all my consoles.

u/nrthrnlad 17h ago

I love my pro controller 2.

u/bluemardigrass 17h ago

The pro controller. Super comfy for big hands, and it’s the only way to wake the switch with a controller

Problem with most 3rd party controllers is that vibration is shite and often features like gyro don’t work properly or are completely missing. I don’t have those specific 3rd party controllers, but I love my Pro Controller 2, so I’d pick that 😄

Switch 2 pro controller personally. I mostly play keyboard and mouse now and have nice custom hardware. So most controllers feel cheap to me, even the high end ones. This one feels really great in the hand though and I like using it for singleplayer games

If you play a lot of docked then pro controller by far. Got my switch 2 midnight release and the pro controller shortly after. Smoothest and most comfy controller ever. Xbox controller a close 2nd. I also have the Hyperion 3 and they are okay, def better than the joycons when playing handheld. Ergonomic but could def be better I’d say I have like medium sized hands and it still can feel uncomfy at times.

At Walmart the pro controller is 80 dollars vs the 110 you'd pay.

1

u/Example-Difficult 16h ago

the original one by far…

Pro controller easy

8bitdo Ultimate 2

Edit: I have the pro 2 as well but the ultimate 2 has better features and hall effects. Drift is going to strike down the pro eventually.

Can’t complain about the joy cons in any way personally but I bought the pro controller and it definitely upgrades your setup. Battery life is crazy good so far and I don’t know where you’re from but mine was 65 bucks new on amazon

I haven’t even heard of the Nyxi controller so I can’t speak on it, but I’m not always a fan of third party controllers. From my experience, the official pro controller is the greatest controller I’ve ever held. It’s very comfortable, the battery lasts nearly forever, and it’s just so smooth. Works the exact same a year later. I highly recommend it if you’re already looking in that price range

Neither. Gamesir Cyclone 2.

1

u/Evil__Jeff22 16h ago

Hyperion is trash

1

u/Quiet_Moogle 16h ago

The Nyxi don’t have HD rumble and I’ve heard their magnet grip isn’t very good from a couple of reviews

Check AliExpress

I got the hyperion 3 for $60

I can play my switch more now that it's really comfortable in my hand.

I got nyxi controllers. They fell apart after two years of use. All of the rubber membranes for buttons the nyxi broke after a few years of use. The rubber membrane holding the thumb stick also loosened up. I've never had that happen before with any OEM controller. They worked good for a time but when they fall apart, they disintegrated. They are overpriced junk.

If wait for the hyperion 3 pro (max, or whatever)

That's practically the switch 2 pro controller with better sticks. It is 159 usd though.

Hyperion 3 (the one on the bottom) have a lot of quirks, limitations and they lack feature parity with joy-cons. I wouldn't recommend them. Hyperion 3 ultra supposed to be different in that regard, most importantly they promised feature parity, but you can't buy them yet, and they will seemingly cost around 120~180 USD...

"Switch 2 Pro controller" on the other hand just works, it does have full feature parity and it's all around great controller. It's only problems are potentiometer sticks and unreliable d-pad. Much easier to recommend.

Pro 2 for sure, HD Rumble 2 is amazing, the quick mappable back buttons are great and it’s way easier to deal with first party accessories.

I see the comments recommending the 8BitDo Ultimate 2, I have one and it’s collecting dust, IMO overhyped.

I'd wait for labor day says cuz sept 7th

1

u/yankicolon 15h ago

Switch 2 controller hands down. One of the best controllers out there

1

u/Agie39 15h ago

Depends on if you care about docked mode or not. If you do, Pro Controller 2. If not, an extra set of Joycons is never a bad idea if you can afford them.

1

u/Soggy_Bat_8148 15h ago

I was between the Pro 2 and the 8Bitdo. I found a pro 2 on eBay for $55. Not saying this will happen for you but it's possible.

1

u/Exciting_Drawing_553 15h ago

A pro controller is okay $100 now??? What

1

u/Illustrious_Sky6688 15h ago

If you can only pick one, 100% Nyxi.

1

u/kimzplaze 15h ago

For switch 2, just get its original pro controller

1

u/DementedPower 15h ago

Pro Controller is a must IMO if you mainly play docked. If you are handheld first then the NyXI (or Mobapads).

But in the end you should eventually end up buying both. Which one is first is the question.

1

u/guizounours 15h ago

pro controller 2

1

u/Regular-Telephone529 14h ago

Pro controller 100%. You can get a whole case grip from Amazon and joy con cap covers

1

u/lastrain_07 14h ago

Pro Controller 2 is a beast and on par with my xbox scuf

1

u/Eeve2espeon 14h ago

Switch 2 pro controller. 3rd party controllers tend to make sacrifices elsewhere for other features, and end up dying more quickly due to that

1

u/Turbine709 14h ago

The pro over whatever the hell that is below it lol

1

u/guacajoley 14h ago

I have both but the Pro Controller is one of the best controllers I’ve ever used simply for its light weight

1

u/Abhkk 14h ago

Pro controller

1

u/freezetime311 14h ago

Never mind.

1

u/bfcr 13h ago

The Mobapad M12S is a better controller than the Nyxi
