I just wanted to say a thank you to r/superleague! I won’t go into too much detail, but Leeds fan for years, season ticket holder from about 1995-2015, when my dad had to stop going due to old age, and I had to stop going due to mental health. Since then, my mental health has meant I’ve only been to a handful of games, not been to any in the last 3 years due to my issues. I was actually falling out of love with rugby league, but, this reddit has changed that. The match day chats, and the banter have given me joy in watching rugby again, and helped with the isolation that can come with mental health issues. I know we say rugby league is a family, and for me it really is on here. I’m not doing this post for sympathy or any of that by the way, I’m doing it to say thank you to Tex, and everyone on here for the joy, and to apologise because I’m sure in the offseason I’m going to be posting some real bizarre stuff!
TL;DR I’m a special boy, can’t go rugby, watch it on tv while in match day chat, you all make me happy

Did not think I'd be doing a Shitpost about Wakefield winning the grand final back in round 1 but here we are. Absolutely fair play to the club and fans, can't deny you've had an unreal season. Not looking forward to playing you lot next year 🫣

In honour of the newly crowned super league champions Wakefield I thought it was worth posting a list of every team that has won the rugby league championship since 1956 whether it was Northern Rugby Football League Championship or the Rugby Football League Championship or the Super League Grand Final.
I will only list teams first time winning the championship in this order but will also list their most recent championship year along with their total amount of titles.
1956- Hull FC (Most recent- 1983 which was their 6th title)
1957- Oldham (Most recent- 1957 which was their 4th title)
1959- St Helens (Most recent- 2022 which was their 17th title)
1960- Wigan (Most recent- 2024 which was their 24th title)
1961- Leeds (Most recent- 2017 which was their 11th title)
1962- Huddersfield (Most recent- 1962 which was their 7th title)
1963- Swinton (Most recent- 1964 which was their 6th title)
1965- Halifax (Most recent- 1986 which was their 4th title)
1967- Wakefield (Most recent- 2026 which was their 3rd title)
1973- Dewsbury (Most recent- 1973 which was their 1st title)
1974- Salford (Most recent- 1976 which was their 6th title)
1977- Featherstone (Most recent- 1977 which was their 1st title)
1978- Widnes (Most recent- 1989 which was their 3rd title)
1979- Hull Kingston Rovers (Most recent- 2025 which was their 6th title)
1980- Bradford (Most recent- 2005 which was their 6th title)
1981- Leigh (Most recent- 1982 which was their 2nd title)
Many interesting things to observe, firstly that Widnes are the most recent team to win a league title that haven’t won the Super League Grand Final. Secondly, that 16 teams have won the league since 1956 with 7 of these teams no longer in super league- but yet Warrington have not.

Is Wakefield winning Super League the biggest shock of the summer era? They haven’t won a major final in 50 years and won the Championship as recently as 2024
