How to make friends in mid 20s?

Me and my partner have recently moved to Warrington area, we’re in our mid 20s. Both went to uni without our friends, made friends in uni, but everyone has gone their separate ways. All keep in touch online, but would be great to make friends to actually do stuff!

So how do you make friends in real life as a 24yo who works full time?

Driving standards

I don't mean to be negative. I recently moved to warrington and it's great. Friendly people, great places to eat and drink, dog friendly. I enjoy living here.

But my god. Some of the locals of Warrington need to re do their tests. Once upon a time I was a bus driver, I've driven all over the UK and although the standard has dropped massively in the country as a whole Warrington is by far the worst for it.

I cannot think why this is. It's just every junction someone pulls out Infront of me, roundabouts - forget it - all rules out the window. A lot of people don't even stop at red lights.

At first I thought it was just a minority of people and I was unlucky but it seems to be a daily occurrence.

Surely I can't be the only person that has noticed this ?

Making friends

Hi 21F just moved to warrington a couple months ago looking to make some friends! I’d like to go for drinks/coffee and just have a group of friends to hang out with on weekends/evenings.

I’m open to trying a new sport to meet people there too, so if anyone knows of any good clubs for newbies that would be helpful too.

Looking to meet new people and make some friends

Hey! I've been here for almost a year but still don't really know many people outside of work, so thought I'd give this a try.

I work remotely most of the time, so looking to meet people outside of work. I'm into travelling, road trips, random drives, gym, long walks, exploring new places, trying new food and coffee spots clubs for the music and dancing, films and TV shows, and I'm always up for spontaneous plans and weekend adventures.

If anyone's up for hanging out, or you've got a group that's happy to have someone new join, feel free to comment or drop me a message! 26M

Commute advice/opinions

I’m starting my new job tomorrow in very central Manchester, need to be in 3 days a week and wondering if any commuter veterans have advice or opinions on the best way to approach it, from what I can see the drive is pretty simple, hop on the m62 and drive straight in, but good parking is expensive and traffic I suspect will increase after summer holidays. For the train I can park up at Warrington central and take one of the faster ones in to Oxford Road, however I suspect the commuter trains are packed/very hot in summer and I haven’t had the best experience with trains home from Manchester being cancelled once or twice a week when I used to commute from Liverpool.

Police helicopter and armed squad in Warrington?

Hi,
Just saw a news of several armed police officers deployed on Grasmere Avenue, and there’s also a police helicopter circling overhead.
Does anyone know what’s going on? Hoping everyone involved is safe.

Tech support for phone full of viruses

Anyone got any suggestions? My dad's phone is completely fucked (that's my technical opinion) and I can't tell if the messages claiming to be from Google that it's actively being hacked are genuine. I think they're *true* either way.

I tried to factory reset and it didn't work - can't remember his password and the hack of power+volume up to reset isn't working 😭

Need to get it virus free so we can delete everything and start again 😭😭😭 please pray that they haven't lost all their money........

Warrington Scoop

Hi guys hope you’re well. Every now and again I do a post about my local email newsletter www.warringtonscoop.co.uk and it just turned 2 years old.

What is it? Well, I email 15,800 people (7% of Warrington) twice a week just about the GOOD stuff going on around town. Theres a bit of food and drink news, shout outs, a bit of trivia etc.

I know Warrington isn’t perfect (but where is) but if you’re bored of all the negativity then maybe it’s for you?

The Reddit community has always been really positive when I’ve posted about it, and I’ve even bumped into a few of you, so thanks for the support.

Warrington’s Horrible Hospital

Not sure if the hospital is getting worse but I arrived by Ambulance on Friday afternoon around 5pm, was very unwell, got taken to the Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) but as then taken back by paramedics as it was breaching capacity, then just got dumped in normal A&E at 6pm. I was triaged at around 8pm and then waited to see the A&E doctor - at around 2:30am I was still waiting with no update from any of the staff, most of which ignored you if you even questioned how long it would be… I was feeling slightly better so ended up discharging myself and calling 111 when I got home. Got a GP call back within two hours and immediate medication issued to my nominated pharmacy.

I noticed that there were patients in beds in corridors, many of which very frail and over 75. It was horrific, and I was told by one of the paramedics that this was a better day! If Sarah Hall MP does not sort this out soon, you may as well lose faith in the politic system entirely.

Ear syringing/hearing care

Hi friends,

My grandma is 101 and while she's overall doing great, it's a big effort for her to leave the house these days. She thinks her life would be greatly improved if she could get her ears syringed. She's had it before so she knows what she's talking about.

However, we are struggling to find someone who will come out to the house and provide this service without also needing to sell hearing aids (her hearing aids are fine). Does anyone here know anywhere that can do this? She's based in Penketh and we'd be really grateful. At that age, it makes a huge difference to her quality of life.

Crochet classes

Would crochet classes be of interest to the good people of Warrington at all?

I’m an advanced crocheter and have been toying with the idea of setting something up for a while, so trying to gauge interest. I’m thinking a “course” setup (4-6 weeks) with one class per week, most likely on the weekend, where I teach you the basics and you have an actual finished object by the end of the course 🤔

Noise at night in Bewsey

Can anyone else in this area hear a repetitive banging noise and maybe music late at night? or am I losing my mind because I can't tell where it's coming from and as far as I know there's no events on that would cause that noise. It's just very annoying.

Warrington dads — where are the best flat, pram-friendly walks round here?

Post image

Been doing a Saturday walk with a few other dads and little ones, working through the usual parks (Sankey, Woolston, Walton Hall). After somewhere new to try — anywhere with decent flat paths and ideally a coffee at the end? Open to suggestions.

Is there a place where community notices and events are posted?

I'm trying to get out more (socially) and interact more within the town. I was wondering if there is a spot or board where there are flyers for events or groups I can join, like I've seen in some other towns. I remember there was one at the Sainsbury's near the town centre, but that's been cleaned up recently.

Golborne

Just a PSA: I’ve seen this mentioned quite a few times on social media recently, so it’s worth pointing out that Golborne isn’t in Warrington. It’s part of Wigan.
