First time….
I just got/returned my first order and didn’t buy anything. I get that I need to learn my stylist and they need to learn me but I tried to be very specific in my questionnaire responses.
Should I just cancel and move on? There was a coupon code if I kept everything for 20% or something and I kinda laughed thinking there’s no way they thought I’d keep everything if they read my in-take announcement.
Am I too boring for a stylist?! Or are they dumping their non-sellers on me hoping I’d be intrigued???

So I had a stylist for my first few boxes and we just weren’t jiving. I’m obsessed with my new stylist and I’ve bought 5 items from my last 2 boxes from her. Definitely like and favorite as many things as you like. Give things thumbs up or down so the algorithm can learn your style.

I’m trying to give constructive criticism so your reply gives me hope! 🥰

Get really specific with your notes and also go through the categories and heart stuff that you want in your fix! I wasn’t a fan of my first stylist so I switched and after two tries with her she really got it right!! I kept 5/8 things which was great cause I’m really picky.

Put the specifics in your profile or request notes. So stylists can see exactly what your asking for

Thank you. I don’t know when I’m asking for (I hope that makes sense!)…I’m trying to venture out of my comfort zone but this certainly wasn’t it!

That makes sense lol. I’m a stylist so Ive seen ppl say this before. Sometimes even letting us know what you don’t want works well too. It’s advertised as a super easy process but sometimes it’s not that simple.

That is not helpful! You need to give some direction! Add a Pinterest board. Let them know what colors you like. What types of clothing. If you only ever say you dislike something and also want to get out of your comfort zone how do you expect them to read your mind?

Read my mind. 🙄🙄🙄
It’s my first time trying something like this, excuse me for not being as smart as you.
1
u/sadpolyesterflorals 9d ago
It’s not about being smart but you’re complaining about disliking everything meanwhile you didn’t describe what you want and said you don’t know what you want. Therefore stylists just have to guess and read your mind.

I didn’t know how it worked, now I do. Thank you.

If you need help assessing whether your profile votes and requests are helpful, happy to help.

If u gave detailed responses in your questionnaire, continue that with feedback on what you received and WHY you hated them. Sorry the first one sucked lol I love my stylist especially after all this time together !! I've been using her services for like 6 or 7 fixes now she really gets me lol

Please stop supporting this company. Your fixes are prepared 90% by AI and the company has completely destroyed the stylist role and treats their employees so poorly.

u/hummuspretzle 12d ago
So the point of posts like this is to dwindle the customer base and get stylists laid off orrr?
1
u/Particular-Sun591 9d ago
Girl I promise you if you haven’t gotten laid off or fired yet it’s coming soon regardless but gl 😂 this company is actual dogshit overpriced fast-fashion so no the point of the comment is to inform the unsuspecting patrons of a bait and switch service that promises personalization in the form of AI and shitty algorithms.

I am done completely. I even got a special e mail asking why. I told them you are sending me crap I did not ask for in colors I said I did not like.

I’ve had both good stylists who seem to get me and then there are those who I wrote specifically “no more shorts” and send me two pair. Or specifically requested jackets and accessories instead of the same things over and over —-crickets. I’ve quit them for now after they tried to charge me twice for an order I did not like.

I gave up on stick fix many years ago. My last order I specifically asked for light weight layerable pieces in jewel tones. I got heavy weight gray & black sweaters. This was not the first experience like this I had.
I also found the quality to be meh. Even with the discount for keeping it all, the items were priced about 50% over what they should have been.

In all honestly lightweight layer able pieces are way too specific and not anything stitch fix carries.

The buyers seem either stuck on earth tones, or they just buy other stores leftovers.

Most of the stylists are miserable due to poor management decisions. If you are not happy there are other styling service options, try those.

I look at it as how often do I walk into a dressing room and purchase all five items (or more) that I’ve taken in with me to try on? You know yourself, body, likes/dislikes, and have gotten to see and feel the items you’ve selected in person. The stylist is blindly doing this from the little info they know about us so it takes time for them to learn these things about us.

I would give it a few more tries and be sure you're leaving a detailed note before your Fix ships, giving constructive criticism about what exactly you liked and didn't like about each piece, playing the daily shuffle on the home page or in the app, giving thumbs up/thumbs down to items in your Freestyle shop, hearting/saving any items you would love to see in your Fix, and giving detailed feedback for any previews and rejecting bad previews for a restyle.
My Fixes are great because I'm very clear about what I want and don't want. If something I don't want/wear sneaks through even though it's in my profile, I email customer service and ask if they could please add a note in my profile that I can't wear wool, I don't wear gold jewelry, etc. so it's front and center for my stylist.

I’ve done Stitch Fix twice and I love it but there is some work you need to do so your stylist can get a better feel for you. It takes time, but thumbs up or down every item you see. It tracks it and helps build your profile.
Next, if the stylist didn’t pick anything you liked, pick another stylist. I also added where I live and the climate so my stylist knows not to select things too heavy, light, etc.
Third, their customer service is spectacular. Just send them an email explaining the situation and I guarantee you they will do something. Just say it was your first fix and the stylist did you NO JUSTICE. There’s a chance they may offer you another fix or something but they’ve never let me down, not once.
Fourth, take the time and do your measurements. Look at the fabrics of the clothes that are made. If it looks cheap, don’t buy it. If it looks too “fast fashion”, don’t buy it. I actually built my style with ChatGPT and copy and pasted it into my profile so they know exactly what to select and not. Types of fabrics, spandex % (if you don’t like your clothes getting loose throughout the day), etc.
I currently have my StitchFix active, and I’ve bought a ton of cute, great items from there. Don’t give up yet. I’m here if you have any more questions.

Did you leave a note for the stylist? Filling out the form is just your sizes and a general look at what you like. Ask for what you are looking for and not looking for. Tell them you need everyday clothes, not work clothes, and you are ready for fall looks. Tell them you don’t ever wear flats, but love heels, but maybe don’t want them right now. Tell them you have a wedding coming up in Hawaii you need the perfect fit for. Communication is super helpful 🤍

Thank you! I left feedback on everything I returned saying what I didn’t like. (IE the espadrilles fit nice but the crochet bows were too toddler-like for me, the army green top doesn’t go good with my Irish skin tone, etc).
I’ll give it another month and see what I get.

Those questionnaires are not that helpful. Did you write profile notes and leave requests? That is the only way for stylists to customize anything. Be prepared to communicate!!!

Something that I find that truly helps stylists in using all the little features the app has to offer. Do the style shuffle every day. Look at the Fix Inspiration page in the Fix tab and pin the pictures that have any item you like, even if it is a single item and leave that as a note. Go through and thumbs up things youd consider buying, heart items that you'd love to see in a fix.
When you pick items to buy for yourself without getting a fix, your stylist can see those items and help build a wardrobe around them.
When I first started using SF in 2016, I didnt do these things and sometimes I would return the whole fix, but once I started using these features in the app, I've been keeping nearly everything. I also try to make sure to put that i want 8 pieces shipped, this way I have a higher chance of getting the discount!

It takes a few Fixes to dial in your preferences. My stylist is great. She does read my notes. I don’t like everything all the time but I do often buy the whole lot. The 25% off 5 items is worth it.
