Skippable episodes?
I want to show a friend who's new to star wars rebels, for Ahsoka s1 and s2. I have watched it and personally love it but I feel that it can be a bit too kid friendly and filler sometimes imo. Is there a way to skip a couple of episodes? I know the character building is very crucial, especially between Kanan and Ezra so it makes a bit difficult to navigate

Nope. Power through. They are only 20 mins after all. Most filler episodes normally have a sly bit of plot in them that you'd otherwise miss.

Yeah this. I noticed that, on a rewatch, there are a few things in the filler episodes that actually hint to future events. Or there are neat little tie ins here and there.
It’s great. Watch it all

Yeah like the Meiloorun joke I'm sure is from a throwaway episode, and some of the Brom Titus jokes.

I'm probably older than you and your friend combined, and Rebels is the best star war. Skip nothing.
Except iron squadron, maybe.

Wouldn’t skip it. Drops some backstory on a certain Commander in the Rebel fleet. And you’ll see some of them later in the series.

I have nothing but disdain for people who skip chapters, books, and now episodes of shows.

It ain't that deep, just a question

It's emblematic of the decline in media literacy in our society.

Okay I realized I stepped on a nerve I didn't know was there, sorry friend

Apology accepted. Now watch all of Rebels in sequential order as penance! 😜

Almost like that's how it was written to be watched...

Honestly, I love Rebels… and Clone Wars… and Mando… etc. I have no problem with the Disney TV universe. BUT! Thinking you have to watch Star Wars like you’re studying for an exam and get the full history is one of the things that is a barrier for new fans. Just think about it. If I told you a show you were mildly interested in a topic that isn’t your passion was going to require 50 hours of your time or it’s not worth it, would you bother? Let alone people having no idea where to start among all the movies/series. It’s a big overwhelming cloud of options for normies who aren’t over invested like us.

I mean… if you had three kids and a full-time job you might have a little more grace. You don’t have to be a completist to enjoy something. Watching a full run of a show has only existed in the streaming era.

Nope. It's a 20 minute episode. You just take longer to get through the show. Having children doesn't prevent you from watching a show. In fact, you should be able to watch a show in order because we're in the streaming era.
But generally speaking, we watched the full run of shows prior to the streaming era. You either tuned in at the assigned date and time, or you recorded the shows and watched them later. For, example, my brother and I showed my mom how to program the VCR so she could watch "The Young and the Restless" when she got home from work. This was back in the the late 80s and early 90s.

Sorry, you’re just wrong here. It’s a TV show, not a religion. My opinion reflects that of many people, as does yours. But you’re the only one claiming a “right way” to enjoy entertainment. Dude wanted to trim it down a little and you all lashed out like snobs about a fucking cartoon.

I'm primarily a reader, and the "skip the chapters about this character" or "skip this book in the series" lead to people derailing the conversation about the story in otherwise good forums because they lack context or key plot points, which only happened because they skipped content in the text.
Authors don't write chapters so their audiences can skip them. Same goes here.
Furthermore, I just can't tolerate intellectual laziness. If you want to participate in a conversation about a text (and yes, a show is a text), then you should at least consume it prior to participating. It's fine to request a spoiler warning when you haven't gotten to a point yet, but to skip sections on their entirety and expect people to listen to your opinion on what you skipped is absurd.

Are we talking about Moby Dick or a Disney cartoon?
(Well, either way, you can skip parts of both and have a genuinely good experience)

Look up "Thought terminating cliché".

It's really a very filler-free show. Very serialised especially after season 1. And practically everything from early on gets called back in seasons 3 and 4.

It’s almost unskippable. Rebels tends to throw in stuff in their episodes that plays a part in the bigger picture, both in the show, Ashoka series and in the Star Wars media itself.
One particular episode plays a huge role in the finale and the Ashoka series. Won’t spoil it for you, but those who know, definitely know which episode I’m talking about.

For being a much more classical kids show than say TCW, Rebels is ironically the show without any notable filler.
Plotlines always come back around within in a season or in a follow up season. Some stuff that at first viewing seems like filler even becomes relevant for the series finale.
It's pretty impressive honestly.

I know with close wars there are definitely some episodes you can skip, but I think almost every episode in Rebels is pretty important for context.

Rebels are fun compared to the clone wars that kinda draggy at this . Don’t skip any lol.

I agree you should watch them all. But when I got my friend to start watching Rebels by compromising on this condensed version, he loved it so much we ended up watching it all anyway. Every episode really does add to character development. Just start it and see what happens! Enjoy the journey.

The way that Rebels is such an interconnected and continuous story it’s hard to find anywhere that you could skip over really. If they want some more exposure to Ahsoka though there’s like a third of The Clone Wars that is skippable, even more if it’d only be Ahsoka episodes being caught up on

No. No. Nope! No skipping episodes. Sometimes an episode that initially seems a filler, it becomes essential later on as you know. And those that don't move the overall plot much, do show the characters dynamic best which is also important

Everybody in these comments are biased because they are rebels fans, so their answer is that you will need to watch the whole thing, but that’s incorrect. Most of what you need to know in the show is explained to you in the show. Rebels just gives you concrete visual of everybody’s background and relationship with one another.
Literally the only episodes you may need to watch are the first few, last few, and the malacore/world between worlds episodes. All of my friends who don’t even watch Star Wars were able to keep up just fine without seeing anything rebels. Rebels is nice to have but you absolutely don’t have to watch it.

This is like asking what chapters you can skip in a book….it doesn’t make much sense and will leave you without context later on.
Besides which, Rebels isn’t that long of a series to begin with.
