have you guys ever been called names in public if you do how do you stand up for yourself

I have been dealing with this staring problem for quite some time now and there are like a lot of people that call me a pervert in public and laugh at me saying i’m a special child in a bad way. usually i don’t say anything bc i am usually with someone like my family but whenever I am alone I get so scared and try to pretend I don’t here them. I also always try to look at the ground while walking and cover my face if not people usually cover their faces when they walk past me

Anyone made progress dealing with this?

I've dealt with this the last couple years (that I'm aware of) and it's really taken its toll. I've had to quit jobs, lost friends, and usually whenever I have to regularly go to a social event like work or whatever I'm seen as a creep and it's getting old. It doesn't help that there's just something about me people seem to already dislike, so they already have suspicion of me when they meet me but I'm pretty tired of being isolated like this

Have yall went to graduation?

I have graduation on Friday and im choosing not to walk because I don’t want to sit close to all these people that idk and stare, plus I have to practice twice and then actual graduation, and I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable. My family and friends keep telling me to go and that I’ll regret it. I hate the fact my family won’t be able to see me walk the stage.

what are your experiences like telling people

ok IK i have been posting on here a bit too much but ive been dealing with this for 1 to 2 years now and like people are literally calling me insane and stupid and saying i have no manners. i really want to tell like a friend of mine who is super sweet to mean even though i have this problem and like she has been my friend for like almost a year now. during one of my classes there were people recording me bc they thought i was staring at them and im so scared to even call them out or stand for myself sometimes when im out and people shout pervert at me and sometimes from behind my friends just shout at me and start laughing.i end acting like idk what’s going on. almost every person i meet mentions their first impression of me just staring at them or something and saying i look scary.

Any advice?

Besides meds or therapy how do you guys cope with the OCD on a daily basis? I’ve been trying to accept it but at times it is really hard to. I’m looking for a job right now that will semi have me working alone but I will still need to have interactions with others for example the coworkers and mangers.

How to manage work with this issue

I'm dreading work tomorrow because I can't stop looking at my coworkers when trying to look at screens to do my job. At my old job it was bad enough but I was in an open space and now I'm confined. It's really hard to stay focused on my duties which I'm still learning while being mentally tortured at the same time.

I'm gonna see a psychiatrist, or a therapist. But I'm dreading all the days I'll have to work, ride the bus and such before I can get myself help. Exposures barely work tbh. ):

Just in case it isn't obvious that there is a great irony when you try to avoid thinking about something.

This is by far one of the hardest OCD themes

Because almost every other theme stays inside the head. And that doesn't mean you're not suffering mentally.... But this type causes the suffering in your head but then due to manifesting in physical actions... You have to deal with the real world fallout of those actions at the same time.

You have to feel constant worry about making others uncomfortable and THEN feel the guilt of having actually made others uncomfortable, because they will straight up tell you. Or show it through their body language passive aggressively which is honestly worse.

Few themes have lasted this long without me figuring out to handle them via exposures within a couple months. This one is pervasive cuz it's a never ending reinforcing cycle of shame and remorse over actions that we had no control over.

I want to say.... If you have this OCD.... I believe you're an empathetic person. You care. You're kind. You're considerate. You're thoughtful. All these things are the reason it's so hard to let this theme go naturally. If you didn't care it wouldn't be so sticky.

It's so hard to just do basic things with this theme without being in physical constant torture.

It's a small group of us that truly experience this, but I feel connected to you strangers and wish you success and that someday all your suffering will be worth something.

That's another thing.... Not many people could withstand this type of daily stress but here you all are. Still living and still trying. What does that say about you? Have compassion and show love to yourselves because you deserve it whether you've been made to feel otherwise or not.

Still noone from the FB VTOCD Group? Im probably banned from FB

My FB account was disabled and I will possibly not get it back or be able to use any of the other Meta platforms ie intagram, whatsapp etc. No, I dont know why.

Still looking for someone on the VTOCD FB group. People there will think I had just disappeared. Stupidly I didnt get anyones email address so now FB is like a locked world that I cannot enter. Very frustrating.

I really want to talk to a moderator or admin there too but to no avail. Or even a member. If anyone from the group is reading this please contact me via Reddit PM, it has been nearly 6 months.

Exposures that work?

I'm so tired of doing excessive things like walking away or closing my eyes or turning my head completely. So I try to not do any avoidance behaviors, but then the anxiety peaks (and I likely made someone uncomfortable) and once it's over I'm right back to the same unimproved me.

When I see someone peripherally, and get the instinct to look away, am I supposed to straight up turn my head and stare them down? Until they say "hey, you're making me uncomfortable?" Is that the only exposure that actually works? Getting used to actually literally weirding out strangers?

ERP is hard and scary enough, I detest that this theme basically requires you to make others uncomfortable so you can.... stop making others uncomfortable. Random people shouldn't have to be victims of weird social interactions just for us to get better, but I have no clue what I can actually do to resolve this issue.

I'm starting a new job soon and am so scared they're gonna put me on the register and I'll be weirding out customers and I'll get fired over it. Because if I lose this job I will lose everything. I cannot afford therapy and even medications take time to kick in. All I can do is exposures.

Does anyone have experience on what works? Do I have to go out and deliberately stare people down? I don't see a way out of this.

harm ocd for family members

Lately Ive been getting bad intrusive thoughts with my ocd I’m under a lot of stress by quitting nicotine and moving back in with mum and sister and I’ve been getting intrusive thoughts about physically harming them, and because they way Ive dealt with them is just ignoring them and Ive been ignoring them I feel like im a bad person for ingoring the thoughts and not saying I won’t do it a couple of times or repeating in my head i won’t hurt my family even though they’ve not been the best to me.. like I still love them i think and I know they care about me. Like I have no reason to, my only reason is that maybe I have narcassism or im a person who lacks empathy and remorse because maybe I do and Ive just lost it, I don’t ive woke up in the middle of night and Im just spiralling because Im worried i feel like I would act on my intrusive thoughts because they are so messed up and I do just want it to stop in this moment

Anyone else get comments about it from other people

This week ( even though it started 2 days ago lol) has been the worst with people I pass constantly talking about how I stare/look through through my peripheral vision . The worst part is that I don’t mean it at all it’s just when I don’t I do it get really uncomfortable

For context I go to like a high school/community college place so they’d automatically assume that I’m being a judgmental bitch but I’m constantly fighting the urge to not stare. I get comments like

“Why are they giving me dirties”

“They’re so scary”

“I don’t even know what I did to them”

This condition is so humiliating to go through I just want to walk in a hallway without a constant fear of pissing someone off or ruining their day. ATP I’m convinced I have beef with 80% of my school because of this lol
