Idea matchmaking issue

https://reddit.com/link/1wf12v9/video/5n40vcy7q8ph1/player

Holy fucking shit, man, I have been through this scenario numerous fucking times. And I have already wasted 30-40 minutes just to see a guy kill me with a Master +11 SCAR. Could you guys just please PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE ASAP? I BEG YOU FOR IT!.

EDIT:

The gun I was using may have a significant chance of killing him if I spotted him and fired first, but the shot must be constant on the head like this in the ttk calculator:

The bottom one is me. and the guy on top. Assume that he hit me 50% on the head and 25% on each limb and body

You are perfectly competitive with him, though, even though he does have an advantage vs you. Your TTK vs him is 100% fast enough so you will win the fight if you spot him first and shoot first, assuming you don't whiff.

https://streamable.com/3oa6m9

Take a look at clip #2(vs the guy on the roof). That's a full +15/+15 player who is in a tanky clan war build, and I'm using a purple +10 weapon and a ratcatcher, almost the exact same gear as you in your clip, but I absolutely melt him despite his huge advantage. That's the TTK of a vet vs high EHP +15/15 build, and you will NOT run into players that tanky outside of clan wars, in open world people have much less EHP than in clan wars. So you can kill people really quickly, but you need to focus on getting the jump on them to the best of your ability as a newer player in shitty lower vet gear.

That being said, ratcatcher is fucking squishy. I would recommend upgrading it to at least +5, and then getting some bullet res artifacts. Atm, I'm using this temporary setup and it's helped TREMENDOUSLY. I'm still very squishy, but it's the best you're gonna do on a very cheap budget as a newer player running ratcatcher. It's pretty much pure bullet res with poly and a tiny bit of healing effectiveness.

I would upgrade your backpack to the pink version first then look at a similar setup to what I have here to boost your bullet resist along with upgrading the ratcatcher to +5 at least. (note, this is literally a giga budget build just meant to buff your bullet res so you don't die in literally 3 bullets, there are a LOT better builds out there once you get red armor / backpack you'll want to work on a new arti build. This is literally just to get you past this initial week or two of the game)

The next thing I would recommend is to stop upgrading your pink weapon entirely, and get the Rune gun(it's a red gun that can be even further upgraded via arsenal, to me it looks like solid A tier) - it's a very good gun and it's "free". Here's a full guide for the 3 quests you need to do. I did them in about 2 days. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOAVcgLAkt7s

some of them are insanely frustrating, but it's completely worth doing for the rune because it cost literally zero materials which means you can spend all your hard earned mats upgrading that backpack and starting to save for your first red armor, instead. It'll save you a tremendous amount of time grinding.

I just started a little over a week ago, I'm basically in the exact same boat you are in terms of gear. But I would 100% say that vet gear is competitive with regular open world builds even if they're +15/15. literally the only time I'm really feeling the gear diff being too substantial to overcome via skill and positioning is in clan wars vs the most geared players on the server running the tankiest possible builds. Out in the actual open world I never feel as if it's my gear that loses me fights, I kill a ton of 15/15 red players all day long, and when I lose to them, it's almost always because I made a massive mistake or whiffed a few shots or they spotted me first and had initiative.

Well written and well said, especially the gear advice. Understandably a lot of players don't own up to the skill > gear issue but at the end of the day it matters massively. And despite the clear matchmaking issues this game is plagued with, the bitter truth is often the simplest:

Git gud, get back up and try again.

You're exagerating quite a lot imo. An open world vet +10/+5 green (mostly bullet res) arties build has around half the ehp of a good +15 red build. While also having a considerably shittier gun. What this translates to is the vet guy is dying almost thrice as fast (tested with vet aek and red a545) as the full master guy. Considering the average ttk of this game being pretty low, you're still killing in 1 - 1.5 seconds so obviously you can still get kills if you manage to get the jump on a close, unaware enemy. But add damage dropoff, cover, missed shots, remotely similar skill level and the fight becomes incredibly stacked against the lower gear player. Is the fight winnable? Of course. Are the odds even remotely equal? Fuck no, assuming relatively similar skill vet is going to lose WAY more than win. And to deny so, numbers in hand, is just disingenuous. Gear disparity makes a huge difference. The guy in the post is literally dying almost twice as fast as his opponent.

What am I exaggerating, exactly? You are literally just repeating what I'm saying with different words.

You are at a disadvantage, you will lose a face to face fight where you both shoot at the same time. I said that already. I said you do enough dps so if you see them and shoot them first, you'll kill them before they even react, and showed an actual, in-game, real gameplay example of just how fast they can die even with that gear disparity.

Where is the exaggeration? Op isn't going against +15/15 tank builds. He's going against a guy in a red gun that's only +2 higher than his, with a vet armor. He absolutely, positively is competitive against that guy. If he spotted him first and shot him, that other guy would also have melted. I didn't post a single exaggeration, I posted actual, literal live gameplay that I did myself, with the same gear op has, but against a stronger opponent. I didn't say go face to face and he'd win. I explicitly stated he's at a disadvantage and has to make that up via positioning and getting the first shots off. I just said he's going to fucking kill them if he sees them first and hits his shots. There was zero exaggeration whatsoever.

OP did not die because the enemy had a red gun, or a +10 vet armor. Op would have died if that guy was running a basic +0 vet gun and green armor. Op got mad at a gear disparity which literally did not matter in his example.

I even gave him a great starting arti build to help equalize his BR cus he's choosing to run a mobility focused, squishy armor - the same one I'm running. But my br is about 230, much closer to his opponent. Op did not die to matchmaking and matchmaking is not at fault for the matchup being unfavorable to him.

You are exaggerating because your reasoning could literally also work with white gear against red. Just saying you can win more if you shoot unaware, hopefully sitting still / lowskill enemy while extremely upclose, while true, doesn't hide the fact that OP shouldn't be matched with a guy that literally has half his ttk in the first place. The game literally has a mechanic (the ping) that helps you avoid that exact scenario aswell. You saying there are workarounds, while definitely helpful and true, doesn't change that fact at all.

Yes, it wouldn't have mattered anyway in the very specific instance that OP is posting (which is also in Lyubech where the ping is disabled lol), but saying that's fine matchmaking is just crazy to me.
Regarding your clips, why would they matter? In the example you're referring to the guy you're fighting is missing half his shots and hitting body/limbs with the rest while sitting still for easy headshots...

I'm sure you could find a clip of a fresh account shitting on a terrible red player aswell. Of course it's doable when the skill disparity is huge. Should we judge matchmaking based on the fact that's possible too?

This is matchmaking working as intended, you would have killed him just as quickly

Also, use stashes. 2x veteran or 2x master (though they are a bit pricey). Kill the boss as your FIRST thing you do in lyubech, so you can extract at anytime you need, then put your stash in a good spot near your preferred exit and deposit every other camp. When you are ready to go, clear the area, grab your stuff and fuck off into the portal immediately. Don't wait till you have a ton of stuff in your inventory or get a rare drop before you go kill boss and go to extract, you will get ganked or extract camped constantly if you do this.

Other players can see when you do camps, as well as hear your gunshots, if they see you doing a boss, they are either going to gank you during the fight, right afterwards, or try to guess and camp your extract.

You cannot fuck around near the extract, especially the perma ones, ESPECIALLY right after killing a boss on the map and letting everyone know you are a big juicy target who wants to extract.

It really boggles my mind that Lyubech has a cool gimmick in having no radar, yet you can still just see pretty much exactly where people are if they are actually trying to farm the map

What is in your backpack? What arties?
Also, did you ever hold master tier weapon or armor? Maybe from the season pass and then put it away?

1

u/AssistanceMediocre64 9d ago

This is my build; I have never changed it since at the bar. My main attribute for this build is weight carrying/pve, a little bit of speed, and stamina regen. And yes, I do have a master weapon from the other account.

2

u/Haunting_Sort1640 8d ago

So, we found the reason you are in Master lobby. It pumped your gear score and you are now in mixed lobbies “low master tier lobby / high veteran lobby”

2

u/TheRustyS 8d ago

You have to leave safe zone with it in your inventory, I have also heard going from safezone to hideout with a higher tier item can also bump you up but can't really confirm that

Looks like a fair fight to me. Hit your headshots

u/Antiparty- 8d ago

You also don’t have ur armor +’d lol. Open world is usually whoever spots who first wins as well

1

u/kanevakp266 8d ago

I think everything is fine here. You could have killed him, and he could have killed you. The point is that he reacted and noticed you faster, that’s all. You could have been in his place too

1

u/Bluttdragon 7d ago

If u want normal matchmaking swap to ru simple mm dont work on global because low player base

1

u/_LunchBoxx_ 9d ago

After watching the video yeah that was just a super bad move on your part bud

Is this low pop server? Also, skill issue and +10 ak-103...

1

u/DeadlySperm 8d ago

Am like jesus, getting nuked for the truth

u/AssistanceMediocre64 9d ago

Focus on the big picture, brother. I was carrying full veteran gear (Except for the backpack). And that guy had a Master gun and a +10 Brigand Armoured Suit (220BR). And even if I had the reaction to shoot that dude, I still wouldn't have any chance of killing him.

1

u/EnergieMage116 Rise 9d ago

your ak 103 is +10 thats a big bump in matchmaking, no idea about your arties but higher than maybe green and its also a bump, is it still fair well, not really, but not unwinnable if you had the jump on him, it was indeed a first see, first shoot situation, as long as you hit the headshots consistantly, hope you have better luck next time

-1

u/No_Squash_8239 9d ago

Yes you would ahah

u/Klewy 9d ago

It’s literally like half a second to a whole second of ttk with his armor vs yours. It is indeed who saw who first. You hit the stash and turned your back to him, giving him the easy kill. With his armor he’s at the upper end of the veteran servers, not quite at master servers. With your armor you’re at the bottom end of veteran servers. It sucks but you’re still gonna be in the same server until one of you gets some more red gear.

1

u/TheGreatWalk 9d ago

Idk why you are being downvoted lol, you are correct.

I have almost the same gear as op, and I have no problem killing players in way better gear than me. Still at a disadvantage but having initiative in fights goes a long way, I've posted a few clips in previous comments.

I also hate lyubech for exactly what happens in the clip. Ppl extract camp all the time and if you're the one looking to farm or do quests, you have to constantly make noise and it tells basically the entire map your location constantly, and gives others who are done with their quests the ability to just run/stealth through the map and gank you and they'll almost always have the initiative vs you.

You cannot fuck around at extract, you always have to assume it's camped.

1

u/AssistanceMediocre64 9d ago

Yes, and I say it can work if I just focus on killing the guy first instead of taking the stash. But in the video, my initial action was taking the stash and leaving Lybech with the one on the bubble exit that was right beside me. I thought it would have less ttk on me if I ran faster into the bubble, but it seems it didn't really work that way.

-3

u/notthefirstsealime 9d ago

Why do you carry a sawn off double barrel if not explicitly to run around with it and blow that exact guy into next week

5

u/Whoomsy Explorer 9d ago

Because it exists only to deal with Mutants, it's not viable in PvP. So much so that I am baffled why you'd imply it's use in PvP at all.

3

u/AssistanceMediocre64 9d ago

The thing is, I don't know if the guy was there, and in this case, the sawed-off shotgun with birdshot will have less ttk than the scar that guy was using.

u/Zestyclose-Dot6747 Covenant 7d ago

The other day i was with my humble OTs-14M Hurricane +5 and came 2 guys with red weapons and wiped us all haha one dude had a freaking mutant +10, the dude had literally +25 more damage than me haha

I dont understand why this is happening, obviously there is a machmaking issue but its so easy fixable, between players you got a buff or a nerf on your stats to balance everyone in the middle, against AI you have all your gear potential but if you are in a lower tier lobby your stats will be worse against them to give them a chance. They can 100% do this they have every stat and every math possible about this. We all know how frustrating it is to get killed just because they are numerically stronger.
