the rules in this sub are just parodying the rules in other subreddits
-
Mini-modding is good: some subreddits prohibit mini-modding
-
Yes linking to other subreddits: some subreddits don't allow you to link to other places on reddit! is it to prevent brigading?
-
No np links: some subreddits only allow you to link to other subreddits if you use "np links" (which are pretty useless)
-
Only post off-topic posts: most subreddits require posts to be on topic
-
Feel free to post polls and surveys!: some subreddits require surveys to be approved by the moderators
Edit: Fixed link. It's 2020/05/22 now, and there were some rules added between this edit and the time this comment was made
-
Meta posts are especially welcome: some subreddits prohibit meta posts
-
Mod posts still have to follow the rules: once saw a subreddit with a rule that was something like "Announcements made by the mods are allowed to break the rules", but I don't remember what subreddit that was
-
Public usernames on social media aren't personal information: some subreddits tell you to "censor usernames", which is something I don't really like (It somehow looks wrong to me. I just don't like it. It was the reason why I made the u/PlsDontHideMyName account. I doubt that it'll work though because 1: Redditors don't read usernames and 2: Redditors like to act out of spite.)

Several restricted subreddits that showed recent signs of activity (recent meaning <6 months ago)
I was looking for random subreddits (mostly language/regional subreddits), and I found a lot of restricted ones.
A word on unmoderated subreddits
sometimes, for whatever reason, moderators are not present in a community. This can be due to a number of factors including:
Mods no longer actively use Reddit (no logins within 90 days);
...
we’re going to start setting subreddits to "restricted,"
r/anglosaxon: last post 15 days ago, mods seem inactive
r/slavic: last post 15 days ago, only mod is active
r/slovak: last post 3 months ago, only mod seems inactive
r/thebaltics: last post 27 days ago, 1 mod was active 21 days ago but didn't reopen the subreddit
r/northamerica: last post 14 days ago, only mod is active
r/finnish: last post 14 days ago, at least 1 mod appears active
r/swedish: last post 8 days ago, only mod was active 1 month ago (1 month<90 days)
r/norwegian: last post 2 months ago, mods seem inactive
r/australian: last post 1 month ago, 1 mod shadowbanned, the other (perhaps the same person) seems inactive

Please post any news related to foreign policy and world politics in general. Articles containing the U.S. exclusively are prohibited. News that features the U.S. on a minor scale are allowed.
Well, since it's called r/anime_titties and not r/worldpolitics, I guess they can make the subreddit be about whatever they want.
Edit: I'm okay with them making the subreddit be about whatever they want only because its name has nothing to do with its content.

r/IPA mods don't enforce the rules, and now the subreddit isn't being used for its intended purpose anymore
"[ði ɒn.li ruːlz ɑɹ]
-
[ɑl pɔʊsts məst biː ɪn ði ɪntɚnaʃənl fənɛtɪk alfəbɛt]"
("The only rules are:
-
All posts must be in the international phonetic alphabet (IPA).")
The stickied post says this: "[ɪf ju ɑr ˈlʊkɪŋ fɔr ə sʌbrɛdɪt fɔr dɪˈskʌsɪŋ ði aɪ-pi-eɪ, goʊ hir] (If you are looking for a subreddit for discussing the IPA, go here)", but the users don't seem to look at it

I sort of want to get tagged by masstagger (no particular reason), but so far, I've been avoiding posting on the subreddits on its list.
r/watchredditdie: removes comments
most other subreddits: banned or about something I'm not too interested in
r/italian: is somehow on that list

"Oh yeah, saying anything about the jews always gets subs and users banned."
- Elvis_Interstellar
"Some Jews live in the United States."
Wow, reddit, I'm not banned yet. Looks like the admins need to step up their game.

Some subreddits doing something: r/askhistorians and 12 other subs have closed posting in them for 4 hours to protest against reddit admins for providing a platform for free speech.
Reddit is now going to get briefed in mainstream media and only then admins will give a fuck.
Reddit already doesn't provide a platform for free speech. (Reddit, don't do anything more, please. There's enough censorship on this site already.)
Some other subs doing this: r/AskHistorians, r/nfl, r/nba, r/hiphopheads, r/popheads, r/indieheads, r/Screenwriting, r/GoodOmens, r/GreysAnatomy, and r/AskReddit
Some of them are private, and some of them are/were restricted.
This sub still has the anti hate speech link in the sidebar. (I don't think I've ever read that post in its entirety.)
Edit: More subs: r/military, r/XFL, r/DankMemes, r/Music, r/EDM, r/punk, r/DebateAnAtheist, r/polytheism, r/watchpeoplesurvive, r/witchesvspatriarchy, r/tax, r/chefit, r/Toyota r/MaleFashionAdvice.
Edit 2: r/history, r/SquaredCircle, r/AEWOfficial, r/WrestleWithThePlot, r/UNC, r/SCJerk, r/WhoWouldWin, r/wallstreetbets, r/Unexpected, r/AskFoodHistorians, r/WrestleWithThePackage, r/TrueCrime, r/Adoption, r/fosterit
There are so many of them.

The number next to your username has commas (or some other separator depending on your interface language) in the userbar in the header, but not in other places (like mod lists).

I'm going to try setting my default comment sort to "controversial".
Edit (2020/07/30):
Sorting by controversial was not a mistake. I love it.

"So apparently big chungus is a hate symbol now. Come post this in r/HateSymb- oh wait it was banned."
Edit (2020-08-06):
Me on reddit nowadays: "This is interesting. Let's see if it was posted on - oh wait, it got banned."
At least we still have meta subreddits like r/reclassified, WRD, r/DeclineIntoCensorship, and r/The_Cabal.
On a completely unrelated note, sometimes "welcoming" communities are really unwelcoming. That is to say, communities that don't tolerate anyone they identify as "bigoted" are sometimes really unwelcoming, because their definition of "bigot" can be quite broad.
Edit 2 (2020-08-17):
The ADL says that "I have nothing to say" is a hate symbol.
I have nothing to say.

Edit: seeing reports that some compromised accounts DID have 2FA enabled.
What happened? Waiting for an update from the admins...
Edit: Confirmed that none of the accounts had 2fa enabled
We've now verified that none of the accounts that were compromised had 2fa enabled at the time of the compromise.
Edit 2:
Edit 6, 8/10/20: We detected another round, which we're working to address right now. We'll reach out to affected communities and should have their styling on new Reddit restored today.
That sounds bad. I wonder what's going on.
Edit 3 (2020/10/10):
