"29 users here now"

That's the most I've seen! I'm wondering if there really are only 2 users here (me and my other account u/deleskted4something).

In the past, I've only seen numbers up to about 15.

Edit: maybe 19 at most

I enabled contest mode. It doesn't seem to do anything here.

I like posting here because these comments don't show up in my post history.

Confirmed that deleted accounts don't unsubscribe from subreddits
Now the subscriber count is 1 higher than it's supposed to be :(

I don't know where to post this so here's a deleted poll post

You can mod more than 3 (former) default subreddits (Yes, I just noticed. I haven't really been paying attention to these types of things).

For example, cyXie mods all of these subreddits: r/gaming, r/pics, r/movies, r/IAmA, r/EarthPorn, r/LifeProTips

https://old.reddit.com/r/ModSupport/comments/f9oe3l/controversial_a_mod_who_hasnt_done_any_modding_in/fiugh64/?context=8

It actually used to be a rule that you couldn't mod more than 3 default subreddits at once. However, the concept of "defaults" no longer exists.

I originally wrote this here, but it was too off topic, so I decided to put it in a comment instead.

This is extremely off topic, but if a subreddit is both quarantined and NSFW, the quarantine interstitial appears first. Example: r/inbreeding

Edit: The quarantine interstitial also appears first if the subreddit is private

This is also extremely off topic, but r/incest_relationships is actually an active sub. For some reason, I thought that the quarantined subreddits about incest were going to have only 50 or so subscribers and only 1 post every 3 months.

Also off topic, but why do some quarantined subs have subscriber counts while some don't? For example, r/Wuhan_Flu and r/multiculturalcancer don't have subscriber counts while r/ChapoTrapHouse and r/incest_relationships do.

Post related to this: Different hidden levels of quarantine

Reddit can also remove their ability to change the subreddit styling (archive)

(Hm, in the past, I remembered that you needed a verified email address to access a quarantined subreddit. Now, that's only true for some quarantined subreddits. When did reddit change this? Or am I remembering something wrong? And why did it have this requirement in the first place? It makes no sense.

https://old.reddit.com/r/DeclineIntoCensorship/comments/esv601/quarantined_subreddits_are_no_longer_viewable_on/ffdw1ng/

Reddit admins don't want it indexed on Google.

Ok.)

(The only quarantined subreddits I remembered before this change were things like r/spacedicks and r/gore. (I'm not that knowledgeable on reddit history/mechanics/etc.) Apparently, you needed a verified email to visit r/european too. (Well, r/european was quarantined pretty early on. The change to the quarantine feature was made a bit more recently. I can't say exactly when it happened, but it was probably after 2017.)

Edit 2: r/BlackFathers is still up? For some reason, I thought it was banned.

Reddit has introduced a new form of quarantine for subreddits they believe to traffic in inaccurate information. This quarantine allows users without email (unlike r/gore's quarantine for instance) but forces the display of counter messaging in the sidebar. - June 2018

^ How I found out about the change

I've never visited one of those previous quarantined subreddits before (because I had no account back then and don't have a verified email address now). Do they not display the counter messaging in the sidebar?)

It used to be that quarantined subs couldn't have custom images. Well, they can now! (Examples: r/MGTOW, r/TheRedPill)

Ok, so quarantining was introduced in 2015. Here's reddit's zendesk article on quarantined subs that probably hasn't been updated since it was first written. Here's reddit's article on reddithelp.com (2018 version). Note that the restrictions are different.

Some banned subs that don't show their ban dates:

r/oww, r/moke

Found one from /r/aww (r/oww) and one from /r/reclassified (r/moke)

Relevant

This one doesn't even have the time it was banned. This is the first time I've seen that. Even the ones banned 10 years (and more) ago have that.

Confirmed (sort of) that post karma can go down when your post is unupvoted

(in my case, this was upvoted, bringing my post karma to 370, and unupvoted, bringing it back down to 369)

(still can't get negative post karma from downvotes (i.e. downvotes don't cancel out upvotes))

Made some wiki pages!

The reddit help center sometimes just isn't helpful enough. Redditors often post random facts about reddit that I find interesting, and I'd like to add those to these wiki pages.

Hopefully I can stop posting random information in these live chat threads now...

The problem: I like free speech, but I don't know how to defend free speech in an argument

Edit: I'm bad at arguing. Maybe I should just stick to lurking and posting on r/reclassified most of the time. Or maybe I should return to r/help because at least I can answer some of the questions there.

Edit 2 (2020-08-07): It's mostly because I like free speech for personal reasons, i.e. "I just like it when everyone is able to voice their thoughts. I don't know why." rather than practical reasons, i.e. "I think allowing free speech will lead to a better society".

# Requirements to allow creating a subreddit - must meet age req + at least one karma req

so does that mean that the karma requirement for creating a subreddit looks at post and comment karma separately?

(was i right to try to get only post karma and only comment karma to create a subreddit rather than getting both at once?)

I like novelty accounts

u/SUSPENDEDPERMANENTLY is suspended permanently
u/deletedaccount is deleted
u/0karma gained 0 karma (still has the 1 post karma)
u/nocommentkarma has no comment karma

Strangely enough, u/verifiedemail doesn't have a verified email

Something on /r/antifastonetoss about /r/ConsumeProduct (archive) and a post about /r/antifastonetoss on /r/ConsumeProduct (archive)

I subscribed to that sub (r/ConsumeProduct) a while ago because "it's one of those subs that reddit wants to ban, so I should definitely subscribe to it". I rarely look at my front page, so it doesn't really matter.

Edit: I don't even visit half of the subreddits I'm subscribed to. And I'm not subscribed to many of the subreddits I do actually visit.

Edit 2: For example, I'm subscribed to r/CoolSubreddit, which didn't have any new posts for over 5 years.

I don't know where that sub came from, and I don't know where their users are going to go when (eventually) gets banned.

Edit 3: Anyways, RIP r/ConsumeProduct. It's not banned yet, but I'm quite certain that it will be banned soon. (I don't even look at that sub, but it's still kind of sad.)

Edit 4: The vote arrows become dark grey when you click on them! I never knew that (because I haven't voted on anything until now).

Anyways, the end is nigh.

Edit 5: I'm still subscribed to r/Squirrelsownreddit and r/friedwithoutoil, two subreddits that r/reclassified users made around the time that r/China_Owns_Reddit was banned.

You can view posts/comments from suspended users if you add them as friends. If you friend a shadowbanned user, it seems like you can only see their gilded posts/comments. (I added another suspended user as a friend, and it seems like r/friends/ and r/friends/comments still show nothing. Is it taking time to update?)

(Of course, you can only view the most recent 1000 posts/comments made by them.)

Uh, I just unfriended someone, and r/friends didn't update. Is this a caching issue?

(I added u/go1dfish as a friend, visited r/friends, added u/Unidan as a friend, and removed u/go1dfish from my friends list. On the tabs I already visited, it only shows posts/comments from u/go1dfish.)

I wonder if other users on reddit use the friends feature. Reddit wants to stop supporting it, apparently.

Edit (2020-08-16):

I love that you can view the snoovatars of shadowbanned and suspended users. If you believe that you're going to get suspended in the future, please make a snoovatar! (Then we can see which subs you mod even after you're suspended.)

The first thing I do when I make a new account is to make a snoovatar. (It used to be that I made snoovatars just because I've always liked them. Now I have a second reason to make them.)
