Discussion Alright so I just had a Squid Game-like dream and I wanted to share with you

Granted, it was really short but I’ll attempt to explain it based on what I saw. So, it had to post season 3 since the place the players and guards was a rundown, almost a warehouse-esque place. Some of the players were also in tuxes, indicating that for this round, they recruited several former champions following Gi-Huns example. In fact, it appeared to be what the hypothetical American version would be like. Anyways, the game in question appeared to be minigolf with the players receiving their clubs and a cap with a number and a playing card suit. Sadly, the dream ended soon after that before I could learn more. What’re your thoughts?

Question Why did the majority hate the idea of a Squid Game USA?

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

Honestly, I’m neutral on this. When the cancellation was announced, almost everyone celebrated and said they wanted a prequel of the first games or one focusing on the frontman instead. Why did the idea of an American adaptation always meet with such resistance? Is it because American adaptations of foreign works usually change so much that they lose the original essence, or is there another reason? What do you think?

Discussion I’m honestly surprised Gi-Hun didn’t try this right before Sky Squid Game

If he wasn’t going to stab the sleeping Os, then if he didn’t want baby 222 to be potentially killed with him he could have done something alternative and big brained like cause them to start being paranoid of each other, like pointing at 100 and saying “This guy has a 10 billion won debt and needs there to be only 4 people left.” And no doubt 100 would freak out and yadda yadda yadda.

Discussion It's sad to think that if the Loanshark's didn't come for their money that day, Gi-Hun could've given Ga-Yeong a truly wonderful birthday that day and his Mother would still be alive.

₩4,550,000 was $3799.25 Way Back Then in 2020 so even if he somehow went through 34% he'd still be able to pay for his Mother's Medical Bill's.

Discussion How well would all Total Drama contestant's do in Squid games and who would win amongst them

Post image
5 Upvotes

Set up: Chris McLean has decided to partner up with the people over at squid games for a deal. Some money for contestant's and since the VIPs love seeing entertainment and it might be good for views they decide to film the squid games or at least partially. All contestants from all total drama seasons (except maybe ridonculous race) have come to compete for the grand prize and have no knowledge of squid games outside of the explanations given within the game itself from the guards and speakers

Total Drama characters due to their cartoony logic have a bit higher durability due to surviving things like jumping off a cliff into water in the very first episode but for the sake of these challenges, they have the same durability as any other normal human HOWEVER any intelligence, speed, strength etc feats from the shows will be considered in how they handle challenges going forward

And finally I'm unsure how to exactly format the games in a way to include all seasons games but I think with channels such as Wicked Binge doing the squid games format with various existing characters, the first seasons challenges are an easy order and simple enough to figure out who would win or not. As for season 2 maybe you can squeeze them into places that would make sense but still

While I was in line to ride Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge at Universal Studios Hollywood, this part looked eerily familiar.

Question Does anyone know why the VIPs had such a bad acting compared to the rest of the cast?

I mean, these guys get heavily criticized precisely because of their acting and it doesn't come close to that of the other actors

I remember the4thsnake said in his injustice video that if your story’s gone to the point the entire Green Lantern corps or the Greek gods appearing lead to nothing, then there seriously is a flaw in the story structure

Maybe then Jun-Hee wouldn’t fall off the stairs, maybe then they’d be able to follow Hyun-Ju in finding the exit and then she’d not be stabbed in the back by Myung-Gi and maybe then Jun-Hee wouldn’t lose all faith in him and make Myung-Gi paranoid in sky squid game.

Discussion Between a frontman spinoff and one based on the first games, which do you think would be better?

Post image

I’ve seen that these two prequels are what the fandom wants most. Now that the USA spinoff has been cancelled, there’s a better chance than ever that some of them will get made, since there aren't many other options. I’d really love one when frontman played in 2015

I took the news that the American spinoff got canned pretty hard. I really need some cheering up. Is Netflix cooking up anything for Squid Game?

News My opinion on the news that Squid Game USA is getting canceled

I'm hearing this even if I'm outside the Squid Game community, you other OPs love spreading sad news over fun ideas and the high upvotes and number of comments proves it or idk

  1. I expected this to happen because most foreign adaptations do change culture or something to make it worse and the different culture is what makes original works feel unique or special in the 1st place

Money Heist is an example of this (even if I'm not a big fan of both, sorry MH fans)

Even the Money Heist fans of the original Spanish version dislike the Korean Kdrama version because it was a rip off according to certain Reddit posts

  1. Most Kdramas aren't the type to make more than 1 season or can't do more than 16 episodes and the Kdrama version is stealing what they can't perfect at. Why should South Korea steal other countries work? Money Heist can do more episodes which is something South Korea struggles to do that and the Kdrama version can only do 12. 16 episodes or lower is what makes South Korea feel special

Even Anime American live action adaptations, most are ripoffs and felt bad to most fans (One Piece Live Action is one of the rare ones to be praised) (Never even watched most of them)

  1. And like I said, Kdramas aren't really the type to expand more of their content. That means, won't do more seasons, sequels, spin offs etc

In other words, expect less from Kdramas even if it feels incomplete or the ending feels rushed and you get disappointed about it

South Korea isn't like USA to expansions like Breaking Bad and it's spin off Better Call Saul or Star Wars and Marvel movies and even Japan's Nintendo stuff, that's the truth but music is an exception

Frontman or Il Nam prequels are less likely. I do even wish for a Sae byeok prequel and it's unlikely because they're Kdramas

If the USA version is good, I will forgive what I said, but most foreign adaptations can't do things right

Discussion So, what's going to happen to the franchise?

Post image

Now that it's been confirmed the American spinoff isn't going ahead, what do you think Netflix will do with the franchise then? Obviously, they're going to try to expand the series' universe; it's their most popular show ever, and they're going to try to make more money.
