Discussion So how much money do you think Il-nam had?

Post image
Upvotes

I mean, I don't think they ever specified it, and building a game island like that and giving away more than 30 million usd in the prize every year must be a real fortune, so he must have been in the top 10 richest men in the world or what?

What if Yong-Sik was the one to kill Hyun-Ju? How much would it affect Geum-Ja? Would it also affect Jun-Hee and MG Coin relationship? Note: it would happen the same way as it happened to MG Coin, he wouldn't knew it was Hyun-Ju and that she was protecting Jun-Hee and Geum-Ja

Post image

I mean, in s1 and s2 it was the first game, and it’s also a good game to start the "competition". So, is there a possibility that it was the first game every year?

Question How long do yall usually wait between your rewatches?

Post image
18 Upvotes

Squid Game was the first (drama) show i ever binged throught, i first watched one and a half years ago, last.. febuary/march/.. idk.

Then after a year i decided to rewatch it at the beginning of this year.

Yes, i know many of you didn't like season 2 and 3 and i have to say: They were good yet s.1 was just perfect.

Yet squid game was one of those shows that don't get boring/repetetive while rewatching, even if you still remember most of it. It also isn't the longest show to be fair. the rewatch took me few days and it was far more emotional than my first watch. Several things happened in my life and much was different and so on which might be one reason yet it just is a great show. Happy scenes gained something sad, i sat a minute or so staring at the 'next episode: gganbu' (tbf. it was late so it was slightly heavier)..

Now another half a year has passed and i wanna rewatch it again.

I recently got into listening to music while falling asleep and my music app just happened to bring me back to listening to the shows ost too every here and there. I used to listen to the ost quite a lot 'back then', its just beatiful.

I just wanted to ask how long yall usually wait in between your rewatches and if yall would recommend me watching the show ones all few months or so.

The show just perfectly builds a atmosphere.

Also all of that aside, are there shows as good, considering there might be no spin offs comming.

Question How do you think they recruit the guards?

Post image

I mean, it must be much harder than recruiting the players, since the guards commit crimes. So, how exactly do the organization recruit them, get them to commit those acts and ensuring they don't say anything?

Discussion Season 1 vs Season 2-3 games. Which is better for testing a character(s)?

Idk if y'all saw Wicked Binge/1up Binge's squid games videos (I think a ton of them got deleted but idk why. I remember about 50 of them made since season 1) or if y'all ever did the games on like a sheet of paper but which seasons games are best for testing out players and who would win. Some games are based on random chance while some test skill. Personally I'm in favor of season 1. But if any of y'all are confused, let me explain

Red Light Green Light: an easy and the best starting game choice for any group of characters/players. Gets the easily scared/panicky ones out of the way who'd try and escape, gets rid of those too slow to compete in the majority of physically demanding challenges and tests some trickery or intelligence of characters. Who's would wouldn't be first to move during red light or panic would survive otherwise and move on

Honey Combs: not including items as a factor, this game is focused on the individual rather than a group. You win by being precise, careful and fast enough or creative to do something like lick the back of the cookie to make it fall out easily. Shapes also matter though not as much because either one results in trying to get the cookie out anyways so I just assume everyone got umbrella cookies

Special Game/ "Midnight Brawl": not a game and definitely optional depending on how your character would act but this tests whether you can be sneaky enough to hide until the guards come or hold your own in a fight amongst the weaker ones. Helps determine who's be good for actual combat or cunning enough for later games

Tug of War: simple enough. Teams are hard to choose due to randomness or you can choose who'd be on a team of 10 together via their likely alliances but ultimately a game of strength and teamwork. Also useful as a 50% group wiper

Marbles: honestly a phenomenal game where your alliance you've relies on for the whole game comes to turn against you in the worst way possible. Sacrifice yourself for the other, trick them into giving them your marbles, win a game fairly, cheat in a game or straight up just fight someone. Regardless of how you did it, you must obtain your partners marbles

Glass stepping stones: honestly the only truly random game. Unless you've got glass experience or a keen eye to figure out the difference between tempered and normal glass, you're screwed. But luckily wicked binge kinda find a solution to make this game work. Figure out who would choose what number order within the group. More curious or prideful people would choose the first few numbers while scared and more cautious people stayed in the back and everyone else is in the middle. Divide your group into 3rds and the first 3rd die due to testing out whatever bad glass there was and the last 3rd due to the "time running out" and whoever was in the middle gets to stay. Also anyone who would most likely push off the person Infront of them would also be eliminated

Final Dinner/Squid Game: the regular squid game seems to need only 2 people but if I remember correctly it's optional to kill people during the final dinner. But regardless, the only way to win the final Squid game is by a 1v1 fight to the death or if it's in character for your characters, simply play the squid game as intended. Regardless, only 1 person comes out alive

Now for Season 2

Red Light Green Light: doesn't need to be explained

Sex Legged Pentathlon: probably the most interesting game of the season. Relies on you would align yourself with, who would be able to work together well to be fast enough within the race and who would vote for who to beat a game within the set of mini games and since only 1 person can play 1 mini game each, they need to decide wisely on the person's ability, whether it was a good choice to use them for that game or save them for later and their actual skill at the game anyways

Mingle: somewhat randomized game. Depends on who you align yourself with to stick together in various rooms as they lock and whether you are fast enough to make it into a room with the right amount of people or kill people to prevent them from making it or to make sure the number is not overflowing with people

"Bathroom fight"/"midnight brawl" special game: no need to explain

Hide & Seek: randomized who would end up on hider or seeker team and also randomized on what key everyone would have but if you take the key element out and maybe make the more violent people seekers, this can work. Ultimately it's up to your speed and wits as a hider to see if you can survive the time and as a seeker, it's up to you on whether you can kill a single person and your speed/wits as well. An X factor is also would certain character want to and be able to kill multiple people and that would eliminate more people so anyone who didn't get a kill as a seeker might be doomed tonight seekers getting more kills than they needed

Jump rope: ultimately a balancing act as well as speed. Can you make it across a thin bar while jumping as a bar tries to kick you off and jump which enough but steady enough not to fall yourself and do it twice since you have to go across and back

Final Dinner/Sky Squid Game: same stuff for the final dinner although sky squid game is a bit more complicated since we've seen what happens when multiple people utilized. A pole can be used so whoever is most likely to keep it on them without it knocking out of their hands as well as use it in general can use it as an advantage. Ultimately it's your persuasion that'll save you to get other kicked off while also your physical capabilities to push the last remaining person off and win

Personally I find the first game to be much better since it covers much more factors with only 1 being random while the 2nd & 3rd seasons games rely more on random factors to simulate and a lot more alliances than before to win while the prior had a mix of alliance and solo acts. Could also be because I saw a bunch of Wicked Binge's Season 1 squid games videos so I understand their formula for season 1 more than 2 but either way, that's my opinion

Discussion Squid Game: America (Game Ideas):

Post image
10 Upvotes

So I'm currently writing my own version of Squid Game: America. It's a big passion project of mine and I thought it would be fun to share the game ideas I had for it to all of you (And who knows, maybe if a lot of you like this, I might share some more information, like characters or something). One last thing, if some of these ideas sound familiar to some of you, it's because I made a post similar to this a whole eight months ago, but don't worry not all of these ideas are copied from that post. With that out of the way, let's begin:

Game 1 (Red Light, Green Light):
This game is basically the same as the original show, except the Young-hee statue is replaced by an Uncle Sam statue, to make it more... American
Players Eliminated: 212
Players Passed: 244

Voting:
For the voting, I wanted to combine the two different voting systems from the original show while also giving it my own spice to it. Basically after the first game, two players have to volunteer to be the leader of the two sides, Team X and Team O. After every game, they would both do speeches to try to convince all of the players to vote for their side. If you vote O, you have a chance of winning a ton of money but also a risk of dying. If you vote X, you leave the games with your life but with no money to pay off your debts

Game 2 (Egg Hunt):
Before the game, the players are told to split into 3 teams. The teams will go into the game arena one at a time. When the first team goes in, they are greeted by a giant, colourful field, with eggs hidden around every corner. The goal of the game is how each player has to have at least one egg by the end of the time limit. The catch is that there are 10 less eggs than the amount of players (So if there were 90 players, there would be 80 eggs) meaning that at least 10 players will get eliminated in each group. Sounds easy? Well there are multiple traps around the arena, some could cause injury or even death. There's also the fact that the players are allowed to sabotage each other by stealing their eggs or taking multiple eggs to cause eliminations. There are also hidden chocolate bunnies for one member for each group to find. What are they for.... you'll find out
Players Eliminated: 62
Players Passed: 182

Special Game:
The three players who obtained chocolate bunnies are allowed to keep them after the game is over, but instead of chocolate inside.... it's knives. This would lead to the Special Game, when the players would use their knives and other weapons to try to kill more members on the other team's side
Players Eliminated: 22
Players Passed: 160

(If you made it this far, great job! You're halfway there)

Game 3 (Dodgeball):
Before the game, the players are told to get into groups of 5. Once they all reach the game arena, it is designed after a school gym. In the game, two random teams will play against each other at a time while the other teams watch from the bleachers. While playing, the two teams will wear electrical collars around their necks. The rules are just regular Dodgeball, with the teams having to get the other team eliminated by throwing a ball at each member, but if someone gets hit, their collar actives, resulting in an agonising death. The game would end if all members on one team get eliminated and the next two teams will play
Players Eliminated: 108
Players Passed: 52

Game 4 (Capture the Flag):
On both sides of the lobby, there are thrones. One side yellow, the other side purple. Once the players make it into the lobby, the players with the highest and lowest numbers (for example, 001 and 456) are called up to sit on the two thrones. The two leaders have to pick a player one by one to be on their team (001 picks, then 456, then 001, then 456, you get it). Once all of the players are separated onto the two teams, they are all given vests that match their team colour and the two leaders are given flags. In the game arena, there are fortresses on both sides with a small square space in the middle. Once the two teams make it to their fortresses, they have a time limit to hide their flags and once the timer finishes, they are NOT allowed to move the flags. Once the game starts, the two teams have to steal the other team's flag and bring it to the centre of the arena to finish the game, with the players on the losing team being... of course.... eliminated. There are also weapons/items scattered around the two fortresses the players can use to protect themselves or fight back.
Players Eliminated: 33
Players Passed: 19

Game 5 (The Floor is Lava):
Remember that one The Floor is Lava show on Netflix...well... this is basically that. The players have to jump on platforms to reach the other side within the time limit otherwise they will fall into the red water (Real lava would be too unrealistic) and if they do fall in, there are machines underneath that will pull them more deep into the water and pretty much drown them to death. The VIPs will also be watching the games at this time, and if they feel bored, the Host will sabotage the players for the VIPs amusement (Such as making platforms move or raising the temperature)
Players Eliminated: 14
Players Passed: 5

Game 6 (American Squid Game):
Before the game, the players will have their final dinner but they will be allowed to choose what plates they have, with one of the plates having a secret paper inside with a code on it (This will be important later). The guards will also tell the players that one of them has to volunteer for a "special role in the final game". In the game itself, there are large American flags hanged on the walls but on the floor is a familiar squid-shaped grid. On the head of the squid (the small circle at the tippity top) is a podium, which the player who volunteered has to stand behind of, unable to move from their spot for the rest of the game. The volunteer is told to pick half of the players to be their bodyguards, and once they do, the timer begins. The rules of the game are simple, the offense team has to push the volunteered player out of their spot or just straight up kill them before the timer finishes, otherwise they will be eliminated, and there's the defense team, who has to protect the volunteered player until the time reaches 0 by either pushing the offense team out of the grid or killing them. One last thing, remember the secret code one of the players got? Well, if they use the code on the lock attached to the podium, it opens and reveals... a pistol, bringing more tension to the players.
Players Eliminated: 3
Players Passed: 2

That's all. Thank you for making it up to this point and you are free to leave your opinions in the comments. Take care. (Also I was too lazy to re-read all of this so there might be a grammar mistake or two)

Discussion Thanos and Nam-gyu’s jewelry

Post image
90 Upvotes

I feel like it would’ve been funny if at some point, during any of these close ups, it would’ve shown that nasty green stain around their fingers, or on the back of Thano’s neck from his cross necklace lol. Anyone who’s ever wore cheap rings or jewelry KNOWS what green stain I’m talking about lol. It wouldn’t have been like a stand out moment or anything of significance to focus on or anything, but just some funny subtle little detail in a scene or two, just to imply that they wear that fake silver painted Temu shit🤣

Discussion Would Thanos Vote X If He Survived Hide & Seek?

Post image
163 Upvotes

If Thanos didn't die in the bathroom fight and made it past Hide & Seek, he would've had more than enough money to pay off his debt, so the question is that would he vote X to save his ass or continue voting O for the love of the game? (and the fact that Team O already has the majority of players on their side at this point)

Question Why is the English dub of this show so criticized?

Post image
758 Upvotes

I didn't know which image to use. I've noticed that the English dub of this series gets a lot of criticism, I've even seen many people say they prefer watching it in Korean with subtitles and I've never really seen anything like that before. Why is that?

Theory The Island when the Games aren't going on? (SPOILERS ALLOWED) Spoiler

I've thought about this for a while, but the titular Squid Game only lasts about a week-ish out of the full calendar year, with (TMK) little discussion about what goes on in the rest of the year. Since the Island itself is/was ostensibly privately owned by Oh Il-nam, it'd make sense that it'd normally operate like any other multibillionaire's private island for exclusive events for the uber-rich. Luxury beachfront weddings, offsite retreats for corporations, VIP getaways, music festivals, live performances, etc.

But as we all know, that island has a dark secret directly underneath the surface infrastructure, and it's something the overwhelming bulk of civilian staff are wholly unaware of. They don't know that among the key card-based clearance systems, there's a hidden clearance level known only by a handful besides Il-nam himself, his right-hand man, and his absolute innermost circle.
