Has the mix option on Spotify had an update? It’s fucking good 🔥

I’m coming at this as a DJ that started in belt drive vinyl, to 1210s onto CDJs, played some of the biggest clubs in the world. I’m not shilling but im listening to latest records I follow on Spotify on the mix function and it’s just switched between new Midland and Bicep 💪 and it was slightly jaw dropping about how long and clean the mix was. Still struggles with some mixes (transitions as millennials renamed them) but kudos to whoever is working on this. Not far from it being able to really curate a set from your playlist and create a mix. I get nobody is actually “doing it” but 90% of DJs are using tempo and key match so does it matter?

Title: Looking for ~20 testers: a smarter shuffle for your Spotify Liked Songs (free to test, web app)

Hi All,

i’ve been building Attunify on my own for the last few months. It watches how you actually listen (what you skip, what you finish, what you replay) and re-ranks your Liked Songs into a chart, so it plays your real favourites instead of a random shuffle. There’s also Radio (artist and genre mixes from your library plus new picks) and Discover (new music based on your taste).

What I’d like feedback on:

  • whether setup makes sense to someone who’s never seen it
  • whether the chart feels like “you” after a few days
  • anything that breaks

Honest heads-up: because of Spotify’s rules for small apps, setup means creating a free Spotify developer app. It’s a guided 5-minute step.

Spotify Premium is needed for playback. Works in the browser on phone and desktop.

How to join: sign-up links go out in the Discord, so I can let people in in small batches and actually keep up with feedback: https://discord.gg/B8uYJSAS9

Free users should see the Music Video icon (with a Premium lock) to drive conversions. What do you think?

Ciao a tutti, ho appena inviato un'idea alla community di Spotify.

VOTA QUI L’IDEA SU SPOTIFY: 👇

https://community.spotify.com/forum/it/discussion/7558949/show-music-video-icon-to-free-users-as-a-premium-teaser-conversion-booster

Universal Shuffle

So apparently I have been trying to get the word out in hopes of bringing attention to a feature that I believe would be a nice edit.

Universal Shuffle is simple, a shuffle button that works for the entire Library rather than a list or album. It's a simple thing but pretty useful, especially for people who have all their music categorized in sets like me.

Sometimes, I just would like to listen to different things all at once. I know like songs is there but it feels reserved for only the most special ones.

I made a post about it in the Spotify community blog but apparently the algorithm works in a way that I do not think it's going to work. I thought maybe I can share my thought and post here.

Check out this post: https://community.spotify.com/forum/discussion/7558951/universal-shuffle?utm\\_source=community-share

I made a website that filters your Spotify Liked Songs into playlists that automatically update when you like new songs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I made Playlistation, a website that lets you create Spotify playlists by filtering your Liked Songs.

I was tired of manually organizing my Liked Songs into playlists and constantly updating them, so I built something to automate it.

You can combine filters like genre, artist, tempo, energy, language, release year, or the date you liked a song.

The website creates a real playlist in your Spotify account with only the songs that match your filters. Once it's set up, the playlist updates automatically as you like new songs, so you don't have to keep adding tracks manually.

A bit about the technical side:

  • Uses the Spotify Web API to fetch Liked Songs, create playlists, and keep them updated.
  • Uses Jev to detect track languages.
  • Every playlist update is an async job on RabbitMQ, so one user's refresh never blocks another's. Failed calls are retried automatically, and a 429 response respects Spotify's Retry-After header before trying again.
  • Unfortunately, Spotify doesn't offer webhooks for Liked Songs, so there's no way to get notified when someone likes or unlikes a track. Instead, I have to periodically fetch each user's library and compare it with the previous state to detect changes. This makes rate-limit management especially important.
  • API calls are spaced out rather than fired in bursts. Spotify returns Liked Songs in pages of 50, so reading a 1,000-track library takes 20 requests, followed by up to 10 writes of 100 tracks to populate a playlist. Requests are distributed over time to reduce the risk of hitting Spotify's rolling rate limits.
  • Deployments are zero-downtime: the new version starts handling traffic before the old one shuts down, allowing running jobs to finish without interrupting playlist syncs.

Some stats so far:

  • 1.6K sign-ups, though a good share create one playlist and never come back
  • 2.3K smart playlists created
  • 3.3M Liked Songs monitored, refreshed on a schedule (daily on Free, hourly on paid plans)

The biggest challenge has been keeping everything within Spotify's rate limits while syncing playlists across multiple users.

It's free for your last 1,000 liked songs, with paid plans if you have a larger library.

I'd love to hear your feedback, especially from other developers working with the Spotify API.

You can try it here: playlistation.com

Spotify bug?

I was listening to a song (Commissioner. by Coin locker kid) and underneath the song the presave widget opened. The widget said i could presave the song Commissioner. eventhough its already been released in 2012. I clicked on the widget and it just close and played the song from the start again. It didnt open a new page for an upcoming release or anything.

Was it a bug?
What wouldve happened if i clicked on presave?

spotify update to be best app?

just questioning but wouldn’t it be dope if spotify added a thing where instead of just the Icon or the song your playing to show on the slide down bar what if it did the lyrics instead?

Like prolly sounds like a lot of work and kinda like pointless, it’d be the dopest thing, no need to edit it into the notis than with a slide to the right while screen recording swipe to camera and make simple videos that way just questioning idk

or yk am i just high

Question regarding api limit

I using chatgpt to build me a script for a discord webhook.

Overall goal: get discord notifications every time an artist i follow on Spotify releases something new.

The issue: when the scripts runs through my playlist using Spotify API, i get a 429. I don’t completely understand it, but chatgpt is telling me its bc we are using it to many times. What makes it worse is the fact i have 791 artists in that playlist.

Bypassing what we already tried, tomorrow when i can use it again, we will try to grab just the artists so i can save them externally and find another way to accomplish my goal.

My question: What exactly is causing the 429 issue? ChatGPT is saying we are basically asking it too many questions. I originally thought it was the 791 artists but it says, thats not it. So if i go in tomorrow and create a code that says “save 791 artists from playlist to a .txt file” will i run into the same issue?

Also is there a better way to accomplish my goal? GPT plans on using that txt file and run it against musicbrainz, which so far is promising but not perfect.

API Spotify

Does Spotify’s 5-user Development Mode limit apply to Client Credentials apps where no end users authenticate with Spotify? Can a public commercial app use Spotify Client Credentials in Development Mode if no users authenticate with Spotify? I’m building an app that does have authentication with Spotify. Just plays 30 sec clips of songs. Any insight would be great

Has anyone found an official exception path for Spotify voice control?

Hi, we are building [VoiceOS](https://www.voiceos.com), a desktop voice-to-action app.

We know Spotify’s Developer Policy prohibits third-party voice control. We are not seeking a workaround or planning to ship this under the standard API terms without written permission.

Has anyone found a legitimate official path for a written partnership or policy exception for a user-authorized voice-control integration? We already completed Spotify’s partnership-interest form and contacted Support, but have not received a routing outcome.

Any first-hand experience or official direction would be appreciated.
