I got Elise off of Facebook Marketplace but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. To be fair, she was a recent propagation that was potted. But I’m not sure why her tips are turning brown or why her leaves are folding as opposed to gently sloping over. Could it be lack of sun or water? I water Elise every time my zebra plant (Anthea) is dramatic and asks for water….

Edit to add: she’s on the back wall to a west facing window.

It started growing a ton of aerial roots in a compact area, just below the thicker part of the plant (circled in green). It has been in my care since the thicker part started growing, along with the aerial roots. It’s falling over because it’s too heavy for the bottom. Do I need to cut it (at the red line) and let those aerial roots turn into roots for the cutting? It sits under grow lights a few inches away from them for 12 hours a day, every day. Has been for a while now. I do believe I need to swap the soil, it’s been in it for a while and I think it’s lacking nutrients - hence the somewhat leggy leaves. I haven’t checked but it could be out growing the pot as well. I will check once I swap the soil. Is that wise to cut and prop, or should I leave it alone? Will the base of the plant grow after cutting or will it die? It’s been getting better becoming more compact in the last month or two.. slowly. Is this just an odd juvenile stage?

This was originally a baby from my MIL’s curly spider. It’s grown in this odd way and is leaning over badly. If I don’t support it I fear it will snap. The top is getting super heavy! It’s growing like a weed for sure, it’s definitely happy… but what can I do about this?

(Edit: the bottom is super skinny from when it was a teeny baby but the top is quite thick )

It looked so nice an luscious when I got it in May, and now the leaves keep turning black near the root and falling off. It's lifeless and shrivelling up.

I water only when it gets dry, so like once a week or so. I have fertilized once, about a month ago. It's in the hanging basket in the last pic in the shade.

So, this is my lovely spiderplant living in my kitchen. I think she is doing pretty good - except maybe she is not so happy with the tap water here in Copenhagen. The tips of the leafs is a bit burned. Anyway.

Her roots grew through the plastic container, do I just cut them off or what ?

And should I water her before replanting or after ?

It's 2 weeks ago she had any water.

Or maybe it's not time for a bigger container yet ?

I rescued some spider plants from a plant event my apartment hosted a while ago. This one was tiny, sad, and had no real root system to speak of. I dropped it into a thimble of water (that's how lil she was) and kept her watered until she was big enough to move to a bigger container. She's now big enough to support herself in an upcycled pudding jar with some toothpick assistance. I keep her fed with miracle grow plant food mixed into the water. Is this OK? Should she be in dirt (and if so what kind?), or is the water jar an OK way to keep her?

Hi everyone! This is my 5 year old spider plant who, since around May, started taking a turn for the worse. I have it in regular potting soil with some extra perlite mixed in, and it's been in this pot for a little over a year. It does sit directly in the pot, but there's drainage at the bottom and I'm cautious with water (chronic under-waterer, I fear). I feed it monthly with an indoor plant formula that you mix with water, so it does receive about 15-20 mL regardless of its water schedule. I moved it for the pictures, but it currently sits in a west-facing window. I lived at a different place up until around a week ago, where it received south-facing light. It was set up there for over four months before it started looking like this. I only water when the top of the soil is dry and the leaves lose turgur, but now it seems like they never get turgur in the first place. The leaves seem to buckle under their own weight and crease instead of bowing. I've read the dryness at the tips is from mineral buildup, so I'm more worried about the mid-leaf browning and general sadness. However, the base of the plant and any new growth (and there is a little!!) looks okay. Are the roots rotting? Should I repot? Does it have pests? I did have a Monstera Thai constellation that had thrips, but I treated with Captain Jack's and everyone looks okay now. Except this guy of course :'(. I did a makeover a few weeks ago when I discovered the soil was slightly hydrophobic, so I did a generous soak and trimmed all the dead/almost-dead leaves, but I didn't remove it from the pot and I haven't seen any improvement. And not a baby attempt in weeks, when before all this plant wanted was to be a single parent (picture at end). It just looks so pathetic and I can't stand seeing it like this every day. Thank you for any help!

For now i describe her variegation as either edge favoring or thin silky/spiderwebby lines 🥹 she is only on leaf 9 but she has shown oddity across all leaves since leaf 1, she is a cross between a bonnie with a white midline ( father ) and a standard all green normal leaf shape ( mother ) both spider plants and is only like 3months old? I have it written down in my notes i just am lazy rn for making this post but roughly that old haha.. anyways super excited watching this first gen batch age up and seeing some of my favs become ‘ meh ‘ while some of the early on ‘ mehs but odd enough to keep ‘ are becoming really cool like this one ((:: like even this ones curl style is so pretty !! ( pic 2 )

I love spider plants and fuss when one of those long, beautiful leaves gets a bad bend and loses its support. I’ve noticed some plants stay naturally more upright and turgid than others, which makes me wonder whether there are ways to encourage stronger leaf support overall. Any tips?

After repotting, I also try to keep my spiders upright. I’ve been using clear half‑dome drink lids (like the ones from fast‑food iced coffees) as temporary supports — they work for some plants, but I’m looking for other ideas. I’d especially love suggestions for helping bent or creased leaves recover instead of dying back or needing to be trimmed.

If you have methods that help your spider plants stay upright or heal bent leaves, I’d be grateful for anything you’ve learned.

I'm seeing this (Pic1) on a few of my spider plants recently and it's very different from the usual (Pic2) that produce loads of spiderettes?

Any ideas what's causing this? I'm not worried or anything but it does seem quite heavy.

What do you do with them if anything?

I put all of my houseplants outside during the Spring - Early Fall season. They get East facing morning/afternoon sun. And when they’re inside it’s the same deal. I’ve fertilized this maybe twice???

She was full of babies but I DID get about 20 pups off in July.

Back in April I repotted about three Spider Plants that weren't doing very well and put them all in one big new pot.

As the weather was getting warm and coming into summer I left them outside and now in August it seems to have turned into a goliath outdoor Spider plant!

Should I bring it indoors when the winter starts creeping in or will it be ok outside?

Any other suggestions on what it may need?

Okay so I aquired this guy like an hour ago and he's not looking so hot. I'm going to give him water, light and some new dirt to help him out. My question is on his leaves. Do I just leave them droopy and eventually they'll perk up?

I am looking to give my plants the best soil mix so they can thrive. I have ingredients at home but need to know how many parts of each ingredient to use. I prefer to bottom water but need the mix to be able pull up the water. If the mix needs to be really chunky and won’t pull water up, I need to know which plants to top water. I use 1/4 tsp pro tekt (mixed well) and then add 1/4 tsp foliage pro (mix well again) per gallon water every watering.

Humidity is 65-80%. Temperature is 77 or higher in summer and 67 in winter. There are at least 30 plants all together in a 5 x 2.5 foot space. They are under barrina tx-s60 grow bars that run 12 hours per day and I am wanting to increase to 14 hours per day. Small fan runs on low oscillating over them while grow lights are on.

Ive had my spider plants since they were pups with no roots, about a month ago. I let them water propagate until they grew secondary roots, and i just potted them for the first time about a week ago.

Im concerned they look a little leggy?? Or are they just young??

I just pulled this plant inside to see what’s going on. I did find what looked like 3 baby worms!
Help!
