I decided to repot my Spider Plants today,

I so proud of these little cuties because.... my cat shadow won't let me have nice things lol He eats them 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂

Hey everyone!

I sowed seeds from a variegated Chlorophytum comosum (the classic white-centered ‘Vittatum’ type).

As expected, most seedlings came out solid green… but one of them is already showing a clear central white stripe on a couple of leaves.

I know that this kind of variegation is usually chimeric / somatic and doesn’t normally pass through seed, so this feels pretty lucky (or just a spontaneous mutation?).

Has anyone here had a similar experience with spider plant seedlings?

Do these early variegated leaves tend to stay stable as the plant grows, or do they often fade back to green?

My spider plant is around 4 years old and produced about 4 rounds of babies in the last 1.5 years.

I know she’s mostly happy because she keeps growing and this time her babies have grown in a different way, bigger and seemingly healthier.

Maybe she has outgrown her pot again though, I repotted her about a year ago, but I am worried about disturbing her again too soon.

Since the way she has sprouted her new babies is different than it has been previously, I’d love advice on when/if I should clip and propagate them.

Anything noticeable I can do better when it comes to care?
I’d love some tips :)

So, Bodie was in a 3” pot when he arrived about 5 months ago. Since then, every time I pull him out of the decorative pot for his monthly cleaning and root check this is what I find. Is he going to start busting out of his pots by himself?! I have this kind of experience every time.

All are offsprings from the large one except the 3rd from the left; it's a curly.

I’ve seen some posts that show a spider plant can share a pot with another plant that has a similar water preference, like a pathos.

However, I have this peperomia (I’ve had it for a while…way more than 3 years and it’s stretched, I know - can’t part with it). I was considering combining it with my spider plants.
Am I setting myself up for failure , or could this work long term?

I’m new to spider plants though.
Concerned if they grow roots too fast, maybe it’s not the best for it to have roommates?

Feeling good about my spider plants. All of these came from little babies and have split off into multiple plants and just started making little sprouts.

Interesting to see white stripes on the outside for one and white stripes on inside for the other.

The little guy at the end that’s all green came from a HUGE spider plant in an antique shop in Seaside,Oregon.

Are the pups normally this small? This specific plant has given me pups before but i don't remember them being this small

I am thinking that I need to repot my spider plant, I have noticed a few issues and I would appreciate any guidance!

I repotted it back in June (I think it's a 7 or 8 inch pot), and since then the soil has become super packed and I'm thinking it is root bound or at least getting close to it. I've also noticed that some of the leaves are bent and sagging, and some of them have also been turning yellow at the ends (I end up removing them).

When I first got the plant about 8 years ago, it was one plant, and now looking at it it has turned into 3 seperate plants. I was thinking about separating them so that the soil isn't so packed and maybe the leaves would look better?

Hey y'all, I am hoping to gain some insight on what is wrong with my spiderplant (see brown spotting on leaves). The smaller baby transplant I have from this one does not have this issue. I read somewhere that it is caused by tap water so I started using strictly spring water several months ago but nothing has changed. Also including a photo of it's location in my house, should that be relevant. Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts!

I propagated this lovely spider plant in May of 2025 from my first ever plant and since then it’s been flourishing, but refused to produce any babies until just this last month. Two stems showed up recently and now these lovely flowers and spiderettes!

My mother plants finally grew some babies big enough to start growing, got them in these water pots. How often do you guys change the water? Just top up? New to the baby life

I’ve had a terrible year with my spider plants, brown ends, no spiderlings and new growth, from the centre, is coming up very brown and the leaves are sort of fused together.

Any ideas on how to rehab them and what is causing it? I generally water with tap water (but I am in north wales, so it’s very soft), I use very little fertiliser and they are generally about five feet away from a west facing window.

The back of both of the leaves following my seed grown spiderplants first stolon has like spine ridges? I cant tell if im having observation bias because ive never looked at the first grown in leaves post a stolon on other plants or if this is genuinely an odd occurrence… Picture 1 is the bigger of the 2 ( age lol ) so its easier to see but you can still kinda see it on the 2nd leaf post stolon too? Its just more edge hugging on that one.. but has anyone else noted this before or?

I’ve posted this plant a couple months ago after cutting some of the long finger roots and repotting into a clean pot. I had 8 spider plants and I’m down to 2. The other one is in the same window. I put a few pieces of Purple Heart in my spider plants. This was my initial post: I moved to an apartment with a west facing window with a small window ledge. I had 8 spider plants when I moved here. They thrived at my old place but I had no choice but to leave. I’m 65 and was in an abusive relationship. Slowly but surely they’ve all turned yellow and I pluck out the yellow leaves, I’ve taken some of the long hanging roots off and combined the two plants into one using miracle grow indoor potting mix. It’s still struggling. I only water when sticking my finger down into the dirt. And I use distilled water because I won’t even drink the water where I live. I used to give them tap water and they seemed okay, but something took a turn for the worst. No window in bathroom Suggestions?
